Out of "your" Top Five White Sox moments....
WilliamTell replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How about the mayhem against Detroit in 2000? 2 brawls, many suspensions, and my personal favorite, seeing White Sox fans dump water on the Tigers bullpen pitchers. 1. Game 4 of the World Series is the greatest memory. CHAMPIONS!!!! 2. Game 5 of the ALCS to go to the World Series. I honestly couldn't believe what I saw, going to the World Series!!!! 3. Podsednik's walkoff homer and Konerko's Grand Slam in Game 2 of the World Series. 4. Geoff Blum's walkoff in the 14th inning in Game 3 of the World Series. There were so many chances for the Astros to win that game. I had accepted that we would be up 2 games to 1 game going into Game 4. 5. Iguchi's go ahead homer in Game 2 of the ALDS against Boston with 2 outs. Being down 4, looking like it we were going to lose home field advantage, and scoring 5 in the 5th inning was unbelievable. Honorable mentions: 1. Game 163 against Minnesota. After all of the crap I dealt with when the White Sox lost to the Twins in the dome, this was the sweetest thing for me. Honestly for me personally, outside of 2005, this is the greatest memory for me and maybe always will be since I had to deal with those Twins fans. 2. Buehrle's no hitter against Texas. So close to a perfect game. That was almost the only good thing in 2007. 3. Pierzynski's strike out to get on base in Game 2 of the ALCS was unbelievable. 4. Clinching the division in 2000. I was there in Minnesota at my first White Sox game. They lost the game in extra innings but Kansas City already beat Cleveland for the Sox to clinch the division. 5. In 2003, Konerko's game tying homer against Minnesota in the 9th inning with 2 outs, and Thomas' walk off homer in the 11th (I think) to beat the Twins. 9 out of 10 moments are either in 2005, or against the Twins. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) That doesn't mean he can't take steps to clean up the record book. Never said he shouldn't do that. What I don't want to see if someone 30 years down the line deciding to clean up the record book. Either do it now, meaning in the next few years, or don't do it.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Feb 16, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) I think the news rules should be... 1st Strike - 162 game ban, so basically a whole season. 2nd Strike - Lifetime ban. However, a lot of the steroids are a couple years ahead of the testing, so that's why this needs to be blood tests and they need to be frozen. The players union would never allow this though, but if we want to clean out baseball, this would be the best course of action, IMO. I wouldn't mind something like that, or even a 3-5 year ban for the 2nd offense, which could end their career anyways. What I don't want to see if Selig trying to punish A-Rod or anyone that did steriods before the required testing started. Selig has no one but himself to blame for not getting involved in steriod testing. He should've gotten involved at least a decade ago.

I wonder who will pick up Fred Taylor, I think he has another good year left in him. -
He was too busy trying to contract the Twins and Expos instead of lookin at steroids earlier this decade.

I'd prefere be in head to head. Both soxtalk leagues I was in last year were rotisserie.

I want to see Dwight Howard back in it next year. Nate Robinson will be back. It would be cool if Lebron James and another high profile player did it. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 14, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) I like the way you think. I could actually see Florida challenging for the division crown. Nolasco/Johnson was as good as any 1-2 punch in the NL down the stretch last year. Throw in Volstad, and you have a potential dynamite 1-2-3 heading their rotation. This is going to be a really fun team to watch. Well it is Florida's turn. 1997, 2003. 2009 would make it another 6 year gap. Bold predictions: Barry Bonds will play with some team this year. A's trade Matt Holiday and pick up a lot prospects, not that bold but I'm certain it'll happen. BOTH the Phillies and Mets will not make the playoffs. Florida or Atlanta will win the NL East Not sure if this is bold, but the Giants will be in serious contention for the NL West The Royals will finish in the top 3 in the AL Central. The Rays will NOT make the playoffs, Yankees will win the AL East. (Probably not that bold.) The Reds will make some serious noise in the NL Central, maybe not win it but be close in September. Angels win by 20 games in the AL West. (I had to put something down other than trading Holliday for the AL West.)

lol in that list, Linebrink's number makes him look like he's fighting for a spot on the team. Uribe's old number is also gone.

I know at least one other person on the site likes Smallville. Last Thursday's episode was very good and emotional. In my opinion it was either the saddest, or 2nd saddest ending in all 8 seasons.

At least he's not going to be with the Twins.

Is KW actually watching the Dow Jones or being a jerk?

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Forgot Morrison was in the league. Ha I didn't realized Shannon Brown was still in the league either. It's easy to forget players on the Bobkats. "my "see" letter isn't working, or the letter between B and D. So I'm using k's and s's to solve the problem for now. -
THE CARDINALS WON THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Pittsburgh was the best defense in the league. You take the points. Too many things can go wrong if he stopped short: a penalty, an interception (which happened once and cost them dearly), a fumble. The defense didn't step up, that's all. Yeah you have to take the points in an elimination game like that, let alone the Super Bowl. Even the Steelers decided not to go for the TD on 4th down in the 1st quarter. And Arizona's defense is by no means as good as Pittsburgh's. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) No one has pointed out how A. Rolle got into Fitzgerald's way on the INT return at the end of the half, preventing him from tackling Harrison around the 10. Harrison's touchdown itself was rather iffy. If he was ruled down first I doubt it would've been overturned. -

The officiating was terrible in the game. I'm actually surprised they called holding in the endzone for a safety. -

I am so happy Derrick Thomas got selected. I haven't been this happy with sports since the White Sox won the World Series. Derrick Thomas was my football hero growing up, the reason why I'm a Chiefs fan. It was so devastating when he passed away. -
Thank you for helping with the 2005 World Series Juan! I'll admit I usually didn't like Uribe playing, but when he was hot, he was hot. Good luck!

I almost always root for the American League, and no different that time.

I prefere pro sports over college sports. I hate crocs, moreso I hate flip flops because the noise they make drives me nuts. Which is partially why I like winter more than summer because in the summer, flip flops are all I hear.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) Mark McGwire CSI Animated TV shows Wow, Mark McGwire is hated, even his brother doesn't like him, haha.

Barry Bonds, DH rule, it's probably different on this site since Frank Thomas and Harold Baines had such success being DH's, but most people I talk to hate the DH. Lacrosse, Horse Racing Smallville, The Amazing Race

Alonzo Mourning retired. I always feel really sad when players are retiring that I remember watching when I was younger. As a matter of fact, I still have a Hornets poster of him in my room, it hasn't left its spot in probably 12 years, haha.
