  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) Jimmy Carter just Endorsed Obama I already thought Carter was on board a while ago, didn't you see Obama's budget and tax plans for his first term.
  2. On the Score "Ozzie stated that he protected Greg Walker, and that if my name is going on be out there so is his." right afterwords they asked Greg about his comments about Ozzie. Greg Walker "Out of respect for the owner, I have no comment"
  3. This would of been my lineup. This would give us 1-5 guys who have been hitting this year. We could have some contiguous ABs with that lineup. Cabrera SS Ramirez 2B Quentin LF Dye RF AJ C Konerko 1b Thome DH Crede 3b Swisher CF
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) Thats a deal I'd do. I don't know if the Red Sox would, but given Ortiz injury and there financial state (ie, plenty of money) it could be a move that makes sense for both sides. The reason I'd be excited with the deal is it gets the Sox Masterson who is a tremendous arm. The only problem with the trade market is, that their scouts are seeing the same thing that we are. Thome has a slow bat right now, and his pitch recognition is a tad off. That will scare some people off. I don't know if they would be willing to pony up anything for Thome right now. This chapter was written starting at the end of last year when we extended Dye with a 2 year, and gave him NTC for the first year. Then Konerko became a 5 and 10 guy. These decisions good or bad, are made. And now we have to live with them. We can shuffle the deck a bit. But I doubt if we can move anything that will bring back what we want. Things that look good. Cabrera looks like he is coming out of it. He has had some solid hits, and he has motivation to be good. He is older, and is coming up on his last big contract. He will work his ass off and hit well for us. I could care less if he is a mercenary. As long as he plays well. Quentin has been great. Alexei looks like he is progressing nicely. Our pitching has been great. I think Konerko needs some time on the DL to get his hand right. During this time I would move Swisher to first, and play either Anderson or bring up Owens, Richar or Fields ( when healthy). Our pitching has a chance to be good for a few years, based on ages outside of the Count. I wouldnt burn that for a single hitter. Pitching is the most important thing in baseball. You can get hitters, you cant get quality pitching.
  5. Hopefully you didnt miss tonights WEC fights. The two co-title fights were probably some of the best action I have seen in a while. Youshiro Maeda vs. Miguel Torres This was a war. These guys dont like each other, and it was pretty even with Torres showing some good standup. Torres kept throwing a stiff jab, and finally Herb Dean stopped it as Maeda's eye completely shut. When they tried to flush it out at ringside, he started to yell. Hopefully he is okay. Faber versus Pulver Faber has been rolling through his division. Get the guy to the ground, and wreck him. Thats his MO. Pulver, its about his left hook and beating him. Now in Pulvers last fight he showed some ground game, submitting swanson. The shock to all was when Faber pulled out a strong standup. He dominated this fight, putting Pulver on the ground once with a right to the jaw. It went all 5 and it was a war. Pulver raised Fabers hand at the end, and Faber went up to him and said, "that was f***ing awesome" That was some great entertainment. And it finally shuts up the Faber critics who think he hasn't fought anyone. He beat Curran and now Pulver.
  6. A joe cowley twitter post, not exactly a beacon of journalism but lets see if something happens.
  7. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) so you're arguement is, if a hitting coach doesn't do anything, they're not needed. so fire walker because he doesn't serve a purpose on the team. just make sure you don't replace him with anyone, because hitting coaches don't really do anything. now, for my opinion on the matter, I think walker brings a more family-type aspect to the team, the guys are very close to him, and as much as it might seem (to many of you guys) that walker being fired would somehow change the team and ultimately cause them to start hitting (which i find unrealistic, but that's just me), i think the ramifications of canning a guy that's so close to his players might send the wrong idea i could be 100% wrong here, but that's the way i see it right now I have a solution. Call your vet hitters who supposedly don't need a hitting coach. Tell them July 1st will be Walks last day. And then tell them, his fate is up to you. You have a month, yes a month where you will face good pitching and a lot of bad pitching with the NL inter league games. You have one month to save him.
  8. The pitching has been great all year long. Its our ray of hope.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) What? You haven't made you're opinion clear on this matter the last few years, what do you think? I was just ahead of the curve on that one.
  10. Our pitching was good enough to win every game this series, yet we walk out 1-3. Same thing happeened when we faced the Angels. This team is going to have a hard time winning against good pitching, because our offense sucks.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) All our guys like diving out of the way of inside pitches. Friggin stay in there and if you get hit, you get hit. Thats because they are diving over the plate to pull a pitch away.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) It's what have you done for me lately anyway isn't it? Well you might want to join us in the present, its the year 2008. Welcome back.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) What's his role, to have 2 good weeks a season? Also outside of 2004, Juan has been in a hitting slump his entire career.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) He has the history behind him with 20 homers last year for example plus his glove work He has a history of having a sub .236 BA for 2 years with a sub 300 OBP as well. All this can be yours for a cool 4 million dollars.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) I am not buying into the Richar thing at this time. Maybe next year Yet you buy into the myth that Uribe can get hot.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Well, we're going to have to score to win. Nothing like keeping our best hitter and clutch player on the bench. Maddon put Crawford in LF. I wonder why that is.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) Alexei is hot right now, but Uribe cam too. What will we be saying if and when Ramirez slumps? Uribe hasnt been hot since 2004. When he had the role of supersub. I think as long as he can hit .236, he officially hits better than Uribe.
  18. I wonder if our hitters need to be reminded on what the strikezone is. It is not pitches over your head, or bounced in.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) Everytime I turn on the Cubs game, they are talking about how they have the best record in baseball. They even have a standings graphic for it. Lame. The solution is, dont turn the channel to the cubs game.
  20. Nothing like expanding the zone for the pitcher. Okay, how exactly does a team hide their middle of the order so we can score runs.
  21. Our 3-4-5 is up, isnt that the part of the order that hits and scores runs.
