So let me get this straight, we have people that are for ditching bmac, and adding another bat to the lineup because offense wins championships, just ask the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 whitesox teams that thumped through the year only to get owned after the allstar break because the less talented twins punched them in the mouth and let them bleed on the side. We have enough question marks in our rotation with Fastball Freddy and Buerhle and the 7th inning monster known as Vazquez. All mind you making buckets of money. How about this, lets keep Bmac and trade on the above and release 10 mill from our payroll. f*** getting Crawford, get Eric Bedard. Trade every prospect and 2 of our rotation guys and insert Bedard and Bmac in our rotation. That makes our team much better than inserting one offensive player.

Worst Team To Ever Win the World Series

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) I thought the Indians were supposed to be great this year too. I mean that's what everyone said. That's why they play the games. What it looks like on paper doesn't mean s***. Well if Joey Cora had his waving hand taped to his side, if bmac was in the rotation in July, if Ozzie played the starters more than 25% of the time, and if our hitters decided to keep hitting instead of becoming the lift and pull softball team we would of won the division hands down. We were the best team in the AL this year. We just decided to collectively f*** up and it sickens me that we didnt get a chance to defend. -

Well I expect the entire Tiger pitching staff to suck next year because they pitched so far and so deep into the season. At least that is what we were told about this years whitesox. Hopefully watching this makes the whitesox want to vomit, and gives them the desire they lacked this year. Lets go and f*** them up next year. Congrats to the cards, next year we reclaim what is ours. -
Hopefully we can either get Hrniak to work with Uribe again for a refresher on how to keep his front end from starting the tazmanian spin, or we dish him out and get someone who can provide some bat control.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Public schools can filter internet access. If they don't, maybe as a parent who gives a crap about your kid seeing such things - you should go to a school board meeting and insist on it. Well I am already taking a vested interest in my school district and have attended meetings after I bought a house in Downers Grove well before we even had our first born. I asked this and was given some nonsense from their technical director on how hard it is to get blocking software. I volunteered my time, and I even got one of my software vendors to flip the bill on some free software for the school. They still ain't thrilled about the premise of having to block stuff. But onto new problems, they are closing the school 2 blocks away and selling it for profit, and now we will have to send our kids to a school 2 1/2 miles away, and just to make matters better they want a tax increase also due to too many kids in the schools. Oxymoron time at the School district. As I have found out so far, local schools are a spiderweb of politics, bulls***, and soccer moms looking out for the program that their kid is involved in. Internet filtering is a mess that I will have to keep pounding into their heads over and over until they cave or I have to go to the papers about.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) I am against government regulation of legal internet content. but i do see Nuke's point on this issue. if USA network or CBS decided to show XXX movies many would rejoice, but most parents wouldn't. i doubt the argument "just block the channel" would work too well. if ISP's were smart they would offer packages that came with software to block pornographic sites. a lot of parents do need help when it comes to monitoring their kids internet viewing. in many cases the kids know more about computers than the parents. i don't think it would be bad if the government offered free porn blocking software and had a website explaining the whole process. I think you hit it on the head here. Most parents either are not versed enough in the threat, or they are too naive on what their kids are exposed to. Its the old, my son/daughter would never hit XXX porn palace website. Well maybe yes or maybe no. But if they mistype a search, get the right piece of malware, or just are a bit creative they will wind up there. Now there are 2 issues with this, you have the moral issue of Child X seeing some pretty nasty stuff. On the other hand, curiosity can lead them into danger if they either decided to explore this road and they can wind up on a chatroom/webboard with people that can hurt them. Or just by innocent chatting on a myspace/community site that isnt being watched they can wind up with a friend they believe is 13 but in reality is 45. I was able to sit in a classroom years ago with fellow law enforcement officials federal/local and the class was based on luring the perverts our way so we could setup a sting to grab them. Within a few minutes of being in some normal chatrooms with a profile of a 13 year old girl we had morons trying to setup meets with us. We had one guy so bad and he was local, that we setup a sting for a lab on our Thursday afternoon class. So there are 2 different issues here the morality of the child, and the safety of the child. One can impact the other. Going down the dark alley at night is a bit more dangerous than walking on a busy well lit street. We should allow children to experience technology as it is their world that they will have to live in, but we should take measures as a society and as parents to limit what our children are exposed to. To be really honest you should take whatever measures you can as a parent to either lock down your system or monitor the hell out of it and know exactly what your kids are up to. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) or free wifi hotspots You mean 60% of the houses in Downers Grove or any town in the USA. It takes like 30 seconds to setup WEP/WPA on a access point yet no one does it. On my block there are 9 houses with WiFi. I am running WPA2, the guy next to me is running WEP, the rest are wide open.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Where exactly is a kid going to go that will get them unfettered access to the internet other than a friend's house? Seriously, because whenever I need internet access to check my email on the road - I always find myself out of luck. Schools and the Library.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) I think its irrelevant if they agree or not. They can agree and flourish (people will still go to their sites a LOT), or not agree and not exist. Their choice. How about this, how about that the US creates a law to move these servers to X domain tag. Then the porn operators give a one finger salute, and then migrate their website to Y country that doesnt care about our morality laws or doesnt have treaties that support the enforcement of our laws. How do you think that bittorrent trackers who get constantly sued over and over and threatened by the digital millenium act still are up and running. The piratebay operates in Sweden where this is not against the law. The operators of the site openly mock the legal shots to take down tracker content on their website. So again how is this going to work with porn sites. Remember the internet is a peer based network that doesnt have signal entity controls outside of ICANN. And trust me they dont want to start enforcing US based laws at the root of the internet or the internet will fracture and each country will start their own domain authorities and you can pretty much kiss it into mess mode. The chinese are trying to create their own domain roots based on chinese characters.

Prison doesnt rehabilitate. Its to warehouse people who cant follow the rules of society. Certain criminals have the ability to rehabilitate. Petty theft, car thieves, and crimes that dont link to a habitual drug habit can be fixed. Pedophiles, anyone that choses their habitual drug habit over the lives of society, and those who murder should be locked in and throw away the key. For the pedophiles they should dig a hole behind the prison, and toss them in, and then cover them with dirt until you hear no more of the vermin.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) And if you read the article, their contention as zero to do with porn. It has to do with the wording and how it might effect non-porn stuff. What amazes me about this is, there is a really, really easy fix... ".prn". Simply require all adult sexual material to have that suffix, and its an easy thing to filter out. Standards? Use the same as network TV and media. I'm sure there would be grey areas, but those could be addressed over time. So you think that the porn industry that spends money and resources on dropping malware on peoples systems to direct them this way would agree to to be penned in to an area that they could be easily blocked by an extension. Good luck with that one.

QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Oct 24, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) This whole story has been SO freaking overblown it's ridiculous. Everyone uses pine-tar.....everyone. Link to article Major league baseball players are not the source I would like on this. Their ideas of what should be allowed leaves something to be desired. A year ago they were popping greenies to keep up. Now we are to listen to their views on putting crap on a ball. I dont understand the requirement that a pitcher needs pine tar to grip the ball. Its not like the pitchers in the majors are grabbing a brand new from the factory baseball still shiny and all. Every baseball is mudded before it comes out. That takes the oil out of the skin and leaves it with an already tacky feel to it. I have played some schools where they use mudded balls mixed with the same blackburne mud that the majors use. And the difference in feel is amazing. The mudded balls, like the ones the majors use, are real easy to grip and easy to get leverage on to throw a curveball. The ones you get right from the box take a while to rub out the oils and get that slick feel off of it. Pitching in the cold sucks, gripping the curve to get the proper tilt to get the break is hard, but using pine tar and other crap to get that leverage is wrong. If its not a big deal then allow the spitter back, because whats the difference in spitting a lugey on the ball or using a glob of pine tar. Raise the mound back to its former height also while we are at it and we can go back to the days of 2-1 high scoring games. If one foreign substance can make a ball dance then I guess pine tar can too.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) Listening to Buster Olney this morning, the substance was almost definitely pine tar. Before the game, Olney asked a few Tigers pitchers how do they cope with the cold weather, and they said they put pine tar on their fingers. Then, they quickly told Olney not to print that. Rogers is a massive piece of s***, and this is going to taint the Tigers World Series Championship if they happen to win. Well SS2k5's pic is from the cold cold month of July. Maybe he needed the pine tar to cope with heat then.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) If it were dirt...he would have just left it on there, so that when the umps examined his hands at the beginning of the 2nd inning, all theyd' find was dirt, and he'd be cleared. Baseball tonight showed close ups from his hand from the Yank and A's series. It seems that he has a propensity to have dirt on his pitching hand. Its yellow dirt also which seems to be odd. Ozzie should check the gamblers hand every other start next year.
-
Kenny Rodgers shall be known as poopy hand for the amount of pine tar that was on his hand. Kenny Rodgers called it dirt. A clump of dirt isnt yellow and doesnt glisten under the lights of the night.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 08:18 AM) I love South Park and enjoy Dog The Bounty Hunter, so this new one was tremendous. Do you want bear mace in your eyes, Bra.

My worse case scenario is that we get Pierre in CF and Pods is back in LF due to Ozzie loving the slappy speedsters at the top. Oh boy that OF wont throw anyone out.
-
Well what I am wondering watching the Tigers juggernaut through the playoffs is, do they know their pitching is doomed for next year. I expect all of their arms to have at least a few MPHs off of them. I expect one of them to become a junkballer due to them just changing their philosophy. Because the wear and tear of playoff baseball and 12 more games destroyed our staff supposedly for this year. I expect the same for the next year for the tiggers.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) Under current lawsyou do not. I do not wish to live in a society where we are under constant 24/7 survelience. I have not committed a crime and do not wish to be treated like a criminal. I think it is creepy that the government wants to watch me anytime I am in public. You are already under 24x7 survelliance. You think those birds in space flying around are not taking pictures of you. As I was told a long time ago. Assume everything you say on the phone, or type on the internet or you do out in public is public domain and you are fine. I never believe for a second that outside of my house I am not under watch. -

I dont see why this is a big deal. The minute you walk into any establishment you are under constant survelliance. Go to Europe, where they already have some of this type of survelliance up already. If it can save lives and help solve crimes go for it. -
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) I don't know if this has to to with the hacking or anything, but I keep getting security warnings when I click into certain threads( like Page 64 of the White Sox Catch-All thread). I've never seen them on this site before so I don't really know why they are appearing. I believe the warning you are talking about is relatively benign. It seems to be linked to someone in that thread using an image in their signature that is linked to a protected website. The website now has authentication box that is ssl encrypted. You get a pop to accept the certificate. The link starts with https://vcs-sel.valpo.k12.in.us I will IM the person who has this image linked so they know.

Well human beings are protective of their children, so obviously this creature is not human. I dont understand how people can put their kids in such danger and hurt them so. I would give up my life before harm came to my son. The more I see stuff like this, the more I wonder what is in these peoples hearts. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) I know a 13 year old that's 5'9" and 170lbs. Physical attributes mean nothing where such abuse is concerned. And also to your point how many 9 year old girls are starting puberty now due to environmental/steroids in the meat/ issues. There are some pedophiles that are attracted to the pre-pubesiant child and their features, and there are some pedophiles who are attracted to the child like innocence. Both are sick and should be warehoused in some prison or planted in a hole in the back of the prison. We had some pervert who stated because some 10 year old had pubic hair that he really thought she was 18. The only problem with that he was on parole for a child sex crime. As a former member of law enforcement I have seen all sorts of sick and twisted people that took a lot of self control not to glock them right there. -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Well then why don't we just sign LeTroy Hawkins... The guy is a stud setup man... He's gotten a head case rep and he can't close so he might come at a discount... Nearly a 4 1/2 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP with a .300 BAA. Yup thats a stud setup guy.
