  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) I don't get these lineup changes Tevu was one of the more creative players on the ice during the playoffs. But I guess we need more Versteeg for whatever god for saken reason.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 21, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) I went to the game last night, now 0-5, and got a ball from a Abreu. I was sitting first row and the guy a few seats over was adamant that Abreu was trying to give him the ball. He pestered me about it for 5 minutes. This man was > 30 years old and brought a catchers mitt to the game so he could catch a foul ball. If you are this guy and you are lurking on SoxTalk please, ditch the catcher's glove. Maybe he should of wandered over to the bullpen and helped warm up the pitchers.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2015 -> 03:48 AM) http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miam...le21442941.html First Dan Jennings "gut" bullpen move goes terribly wrong. “We did not see the 3-11 coming,” Marlins President David Samson said. “So once it was in front of us we were not fooled necessarily by what happened after that, which was a 9-1 [run]. We saw things that were not the way we needed them to be for sustained winning. So we started talking. And like we do, we came to a conclusion which is a change has to be made and only if you have the right person. And there was only one right person.” Samson said Redmond, who was fired less than nine months after receiving a contract extension through 2017, wasn’t necessarily let go because he lacked leadership. Samson said it was simply time for a different voice. Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miam...l#storylink=cpy He hasnt been a coach since high school. How the hell does he have a gut feeling. He is one step up from the fans having gut feelings at this point. Coaches are allowed to trust their gut based on the bevy of their experience. This experiment will end in a comedic way.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 20, 2015 -> 12:20 AM) Love the Anaheim fans chanting Crawford's name while he keeps robbing them. Well thought out. This is the same fanbase that brought all of 15k fans to their Stanley Cup rally when they won it. They dont have fans, they have a casual group of people who may or may not know what hockey is.
  5. Well oddly Perry from the Ducks headbutted a goal in 2013.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 19, 2015 -> 11:28 PM) When predicting this series, I never took into account Andersen stealing any games He has given up some rebounds. We just havent had a trailer there to capitalize on it.
  7. Tevu has been creative this game. He has setup a lot of nice opportunities for shots on goal.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Funny you mention that, as I modeled my slider after that of Cone. If you threw sidearm to a righty, they would end up out of the batters box. The funny thing was he threw 3/4's naturally and had plus plus velocity. I threw more over the top and was trying to learn that pitch as a way to wipe out righties. I could throw a great 12/6 curve. I couldnt throw the slider to save my life. He was playing catch with me in the back yard asked me what I was trying to throw. He asked how it was thrown. I showed him the grip and gave him a pretty generic tutorial on the slider, he immediately threw a first pitch slider that was better than anything I saw. I hated him for it. His slider was sick. My son now is 10 and i have learned from most of my mistakes. Throws from a more natural arm slot, and the first pitch he learned was a two seam fastball. Everything he throws moves. When he gets older he will thank me.
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 19, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) Some of my favorite memories of pitching. I taught my brother a slider when he was 13. You would of thought it was David Cone up there with the reactions. Throw it inside, watch the kid bail, get your k.
  10. Alexei reacted to that curve like kids in the Pony league do the first time they see one.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) Well, this wasn't completely unexpected. Bauer's a very tough pitcher this year, especially on the road (for whatever reason). Have had their opportunities and haven't been able to cash in. Wonder why Sanchez was giving himself up in the middle of the game....if that was from RV or his own idea? Because playing for a tie at that point at home is pretty ill-advised, especially when Flowers is running from 2nd. Guess we'll have the usual debate about PHing for LaRoche in the late innings when a LHR's on the mound. Bauer's change-up moves like a screwball. He is a match-up nightmare for the sox. A pitcher with good stuff with late movement who throws out of the zone. The effectively wild pitcher. We of course are up there hacking.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 18, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) I like Robin letting the young Sanchez hit here regardless of the outcome. Might be in the minority though. Nice Job!!!!!
  13. That was two solid ABs in extra's with men on.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) Damn. He probably has something wrong with his arm/shoulder. That's how it usually works when guys like Sale start to struggle, right? nope. Not even close.
  15. That was a pathetic AB by Flowers. Swing at two way out of the zone, then keep your bat on your shoulder on the pitch down the middle of the plate.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) f*** baseball This isn't baseball. This is batting practice.
  17. This is why wasting outs to bunt is atupid. Especially when you have Micah and Eaton on base. Giving up outs is dumb.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Almost every team in baseball sucks at rundowns. I agree. It's however a fundamental play that should be more successful than it is.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) Oh they called him out! There must have been another angle to the play. Still a poor play by Abreu In run down plays you get rid of the ball to the advancing base. Then if you run at him you move him back to the original base. you make only a throw or two. Just like you teach the kids. You try not to push him towards the new base.
  20. When we hit a homer at home we need to milk it against them. Hit the ball, stare at it for about 30 seconds as you walk to first. Fist pump through the entire thing. And do a curtain call.
  21. Harold Reynolds is blaming Adam Eaton.
