That was just a lefty trying to establish the inside corner.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) The facial hair looks really stupid when you get beat down as the Sox did today. It's like they are neanderthal men trying to hit a baseball with a club. Oh well, got to take one of three. 0-3 after last year's 6-13 vs. KC would be pretty lousy. Say what you want, KC does expect to beat the Sox now every time they take the field. You could see it in Hosmer's cocky face before the game when he was joking around. Sox are gonna have to do something about that. 1-2 in this series would be OK. I will tell our CEO that he looks like a neanderthal because he has a beard. Good call.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) I played myself. A well located fastball is tough to hit. Hell I could hit at 93 if the guy kept throwing it. I will just respectfully disagree even talking to guys who I personally know that have been drafted playing minor league ball now. A well located fastball is tough to barrel up and drive. You can make contact and put the ball in play. You might not be successful in the outcome of what happens. I faced a few guys who had plus stuff and were 92-95. The different was however that their secondary stuff was no where near what these guys in the pro's throw. So sure you could get the bat on the ball and hit it. But its not RBI baseball where you are putting it into the stands.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) I did, and he's throwing some meatballs. Probably couldn't touch that 2 seam tho. I did as well. Hitting fastballs is not hard. The different between college and the pro's however is the secondary pitches move a hell of a lot more. You are facing the friday night pitcher every day.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) I'm pretty positive I could get a hit off Drabek. Unless you played college baseball I highly doubt it.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) If they come home 0-3, Reinsdorf should have them shave and get haircuts before Friday's game. Clean it up, losers. Facial Hair is the reason. LOL

Alexei pulls up at the last moment after making a play on the ball. Then Micah lets it go by. The minute the SS puts his mitt down you dont pull up like that.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:20 PM) Hawk have some balls and name some names, If you want to tell a story. How about a better point. Why is the f***ing announcer going into the managers office and making demands. The proper answer should of been GFY.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) SSI, B>W.....i feel it has been years since I've talked to you two scalawags I'll have to watch the replay later to fully appreciate his level of suck, I suppose The only reason I am watching this is I am working midnights for the next two weeks because a customer of mine is paranoid.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) I swear. I've had foot cramps that hurt worse than any broken bone ever. Have never ran into a cramp in my pitching hand. Thats a first seeing that. Foot and or legs sure.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) It only took me 4 innings to hate Shark. I tried to like him. At least you gave him a chance. 4 innings of deep analysis.

Hawk doesn't realize that the catcher actually looks at the feet of the batter. "The way to defeat the shift is to back away from the plate" LMAO

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 11:26 PM) On paper, we don't want to play this opener. Shark vs. Superstar Kid. What paper are you talking about. Ventura is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA versus the sox. Try facts they work better than your paper.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) The last time the White Sox had a team this talented was the last time they made this many radical changes to the roster in the off-season, 2005. They have three starters capable of producing 5+ WAR over 200 innings, an MVP caliber hitter, several above average hitters around him, a rebuilt, reloaded bullpen, a couple players who could be poised for breakout campaigns, and a rookie phenom waiting in the wings. That doesn't even touch on some potential bounceback candidates that also exist. Of course a few things will have to break right (they always do for success to happen), but I see a team poised for greatness. Hopefully I'm wearing the correct pair of Magic Tyler Flowers glasses. Was it over when the Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor...... Usually these threads appear about June after a losing streak. At least they are looking good this year. I am ready to roll. Lets see what happens. Starting pitching looks good. Lineup looks balanced.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) Did it mostly with the fastball. I didn't see a ton of it today, but the 3 innings I was able to watch closely fastball was 93-95 with tons of movement. Didn't have to use his secondary pitches as much - hung a few sliders. Next week they get their first real challenge and he will get tested. UCLA, USC and TCU all on the docket next weekend in LA. Thats one hell of an early season test.

The dores beat up on Illinois State today. Fulmers line 6 IP, 2H, 0R 3 BB 11ks

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) They didn't circumvent them. The adults did. The adults cheated every team they played. Do you really think that if you removed the illegal players they would of beat every team the way they did. The Las Vegas Team, Monee, the Indiana team, all the teams on the path to the title. The kids who were cut because ringers were brought in from out of the district.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) Are you saying that these 10-11-12 year old boys were fully aware of the intricacies of the little league boundary line rules and understood they were violating them? The coach however did, the league officials did, and the parents who drove the kids in from the burbs probably did as well. The kids were not eligible to play as a team. So it doesn't matter if the kids had knowledge, they shouldn't of been there. The kids don't sign themselves up for the team. They are children, their parents and adults are the responsible ones who screwed this up. These boundaries exist to keep it fair. To balance talent as much as possible. To keep it fair.
-
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 11, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) It's not so cut and dry. The kids themselves did not cheat. They were not eligible to play for that team. They didn't live in the area. How hard is this to understand.
-
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 11, 2015 -> 06:52 PM) Do you honestly think that they're the only team that does this though?? I'd be willing to bet that more teams do it than not yet we sure won't be seeing the Vegas team or any of the other teams this thoroughly investigated. I'm soo sure that the international teams are faithfully practicing all that boundary stuff too... These kids were all from the same general area just like the majority of the teams are and that's good enough for me. Who cares if other teams cheat. You don't. If you get caught cheating then you pay the consequences. Its not like these kids dont have other alternatives for competing. The coach also runs the West Englewood Tigers which most of these kids play on as well. If they kept playing as the West Englewood Tigers Travel team or the White Sox ACE team then boundaries don't matter. Travel teams play without boundaries, have tryouts, and play ultra competitive baseball. They could go to cooperstown or ripken or one of the other elite tournaments around the US. This however is the Little League tournament which has specific requirements about where you live. In fact they have other requirements like the fact that no more that 8 of the kids can be 12. Ask the Metro Atlanta team who as recently as this August were stripped of their state championship by Little League for having 12 not 8 kids that were 12. In 1992, Zamboanga (Philippines) City Little League was disqualified, as was Rolando Paulino Little League from Bronx, N.Y., in 2001 all lost their titles due to infractions. In the end it was parents and officials who knew. They did this to create a super team. It worked until they were caught. Sucks for the kids. But it also sucks for the teams who did it the right way that were eliminated by this team as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) Good question, and I don't know. On the one hand, having to isolate a delivery and command a pitch with a repeatable delivery probably slows things down... on the other hand, getting yourself into a proper delivery with better leverage and lower body usage probably helps increase it. Not sure which wins out. It really depends on if they embrace the mechanics of throwing off the mound properly. When you throw in the OF you can get momentum in motion as you are usually getting behind the ball, moving through the catch, and for the most part using quite a bit of your lower half through the throw. The finish is usually a continuing of momentum after the throw, and you de-accelerate. In pitching its different. You are starting in a fixed position. You pick up your leg and usually need to start momentum with your back leg, your front hip usually leads the way. You use a pushing down to drive towards the pitchers plate. Think about getting ready to do a standing jump, you coil a bit and push off. You coil around your belly button then start to move this towards the plate. You usually need to wait until foot plant to start rotating. The finish is a bit harder because you usually want to keep your glove side pretty straight with your front leg firm as well. You rotate around not swiveling around it. This takes a lot of time to teach and focus. Generating velocity from a fixed position is not easy. The other thing is command and control. At 60'6 inches you move your hand just a small amount and the ball drastically can move on the tail end. So learning repeatable mechanics, getting a feel for the pitches and being able to get enough reps to make it all seem natural takes a lot of work. This is just basic throwing within the zone. Teaching more advanced pitches is complex as well. I am talking about teaching it to a point where you can get major leaguers out. How many times have we seen a game in garbage time where the OF comes into pitch. The OF has an amazing arm, yet when they pitch. Its a slow down. Its a combination of a few things. One is imperfect mechanics and the other is trust in their stuff to throw strikes. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/201...-feel-this-year I'm all for some changes, but more like the NBA? Have to wait and see. What is with these guys trying to ditch the Thunderstruck from the opening. Leave it alone.
