  1. I'll get booted for something like typing in an Irish brogue on St. Patty's Day. There will be no time to prep anything.
  2. Usually a player is more optomistic than the team is about an injury. It almost sounds like Anderson doesn't think he'll be ready.
  3. Finding an ad for Bear Removers is funnier than the punch line.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:50 AM) Well when you have this many million people meeting through the internet, odds are stories like this will happen. I mean people get murdered by folks they meet in a more conventional manner too. There are psychos all over, regardless of if it's the internet or the club. "There are psychos all over, regardless of if it's the internet or the club." Not on SoxTalk.
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) But don't you think it depends on the people? My wife knows me, and even though it might be a quick peck and "love ya", she knows it takes a lot for me to even shake hands with a person. I place very little trust in anybody, and I do NOT like any physical contact with people, even close friends. So she knows that anytime I give a quick peck, or say something of the sort, it means a lot. I totally agree. I have no idea what kind of relationship people have or how they communicate with their spouses. It just often times looks cold and routine. I asked because this question because a group of us were sitting around talking about it and only a few say it every day.
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) I don't believe you can tell anybody too much, especially your kids. I've been telling my wife it everyday for 12 years now, and I bet she would say that it hasn't worn off. It means something everytime, but certains it means a little more. I see a lot of people go through the quick peck and "love ya" routine as they're parting company with their spouses. It never looks very sincere, it looks routine.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) When I used to live in Carbondale the cool thing to do in the summer was to go to Bonaroo. I have never heard that it is run sloppy from any of my friends that went, and these people went every year. I heard that the security is really cool and they let you do your thing as long as you arent bothering other people. Nothing but good words about Bonaroo from my friends, but I have never been there. I want to go to Coachella some time. Those same friends of mine went to Coachella also, and they said while Bonaroo was great, Coachella was off the hook. Bonaroo '06= Bonnie Raitt and Tom Petty, uh no thx. I am probably going to Coachella this year. We have friends who live 10 mins. from the grounds, so I don't have to worry about being a dirty hippie all weekend.
  8. Apparently there are concerns about Anderson possibly not being ready. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sox15.html
  9. most-annoying co-workers: 1. The manager who tried to get employees in another department fired for eating bagels that were reserved for an event the next day. 2. The co-worker who constantly e-mails the person who is sitting right next to her. 3. The co-worker who sits in a crowded cubicle area and insists on putting every conversation on speaker phone, including the exploits of the night before. 4. The boss who cut his fingernails while standing in his employee's cube. 5. The co-worker who steals other people's food from the lunch room refrigerator and then acts baffled when asked about it. 6. The co-worker who changed his job title to look more important without approval from his boss. 7. The boss who swears at the top of his lungs and occasionally throws his chair or phone down the hall. 8. The co-worker who walks up and randomly scratches other people's backs. 9. The co-worker who was caught sleeping on the job more than once and would insist he was praying. 10. The co-worker who every morning would greet her fellow employees (before they had any caffeine) with, "Are you ready for another fun and EXCITING day?!"
  10. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) I think they moved it to Orlando this year. Ah, Thx man.
  11. How'd this get under my radar? Seems 'Cristian' boy is at it again. Funny writing too. http://www.hecklerspray.com/hecklerspray/2..._stapp_arr.html
  12. This board is probably 98% male, so this is a good study group. How often do you tell your wife or GF that you love her? I don't mean, "yeah, me too" as a response to when she says it first, or on a cheesy card some stranger wrote. I mean how often do you say "I love you"?
  13. You don't need to be able to see to play guitar and if you're blind, you probably got the blues.
  14. I went to '92 and '93, some of the best shows ever.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) I like these all day festival things. You have to go in with a different mindset then going to see a typical concert event. I know i was dissapointed I couldn't make it last year, and I expect a better line-up this year. I think a lot of bands were hesitant to play (as many news reports said a lot of bands turned it down and it took a ton of $$ to get the Pixies to finally play) but now that they see it went well hopefully it will draw more bands. If you ever look at some of the line-ups the European music festivals get I am hopeful that this fest can begin to match up with those. I like that some of the smaller bands get a lot of press, like The Brianjonestown Massacre last year, IMO that's a great band and due to Anton being nuts they have never really been exposed to a larger audience, and fests like this give them an opportunity. BJM is one of my favs as well. They were great at Lolla, not so good in a smaller setting.
  16. I'm not crazy about the UD, but that's not a crack at the Cell. I don't like any upper decks anywhere. I just want to be closer.
  17. The WS celebration is not over until after the 1st week of the season. We still have the flag raising, ring presentation and trophy celebration, THEN I'll be ready for '06.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) Rowand is pretty damn short, if you put him in the back row with Crede and Pierz he'd be covered by Dye or McCarthy. You have to put Aaron in the first row. Rowand looks very much like the penguin, Ron Cey.
  19. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) Damn straight, give me Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, or Stevie Ray any day of the week. American Blues is where it is at, that still is my favorite music. For any blues fans out there B.B. King just put out a new album (in the last 6 months) that is all collaborative work, some of the songs seem like he sold out a little, but there are some quality tracks on it. I think it is called 80? I think it was released for his 80th birthday BB either played or will be playing the HOB in Chicago very soon. I had the pleasure of seeing John Lee Hooker, opening for Los Lobos a while back. Talk about a guy totally captivating a room.
  20. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) Capital Sports Entertainment, located here in Austin, does a pretty good job with the Austin City Limits music festival. there's usually at least one big band (this past year it was...yeeeeuck...Coldplay). But the rest were either up and coming acts or group B bands. Y'know, the 3000 seat venues, not arena rock. I would guess there would be a big headliner a night, but the rest of the 100+ bands will be up and comers. Austin is my list of places to visit soon. Very cool music scene. Is South By Southwest there this year??
  21. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) [fingers doing quote signs] Accidentally. [/fingers doing quote signs] as opposed to all the other OD's where drug addicts are intentionally trying to kill themsleves.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) LOL, its been a big event pretty much from the start. The difference now is the acts that they use to draw the fans. In the beginning, it was up and comers. Now it is all about the money makers, the DMBs and the Smashing Pumpkins and anyone who can fill up a venue. Thats pretty much why Perry Ferrell abandoned the project in the late 90s. A 3 day Lollapalooza is pretty awesome though, I know I would make an effort to go to one night. Yeah, but last year was pretty big and there wasn't an act that was a real huge draw. It felt like things were going back to how they should be, guess that didn't last long.
  23. I have mixed feelings about this event. On the one hand, it's awesome that Chicago gets the event. With that many stages over 3 days, there are bound to be a lot of acts worth the time. We had a blast at last year's. On the other hand, now it's become a huge event and you'll get the 'event' crowd there. Also, now they need to sell a lot of tix, so look for some really, mainstream acts to be on the bill. I say the Pumpkins and Dave Mathews :puke each headline one night. http://www.suntimes.com/output/derogatis/c...tr-lolla14.html
