  1. from ESPN's power rankings: "Best offseason news: A $13.5 million bleacher expansion project will add about 1,800 seats to Wrigley Field. Means even more folks calling in sick on Fridays."
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 07:00 AM) Eh, not sure how much I believe this or the story about Hermanson's back. I'll have to see it to believe it. Herniated discs don't heal. They flare up occassionally, but never really go away. I bet you can take the stress of off them by losing extra weight around your waist and by strengthening your abs and lower back muscles.
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) If she has another bun in the over like rumored, I have serious doubts about that. And I wonder if Britney can adjust her music as she gets older. Madonna completely re-invented herself repeatedly as she got older(some of it pretty awesome, some of it forgettable), does Britney have that in her? Who knows. But her last couple efforts, while still gobbled up by the brainless TRL masses, were not good at all. She has two things working in her favor in terms of getting back in shape: she's still young and has a lot of money. Six months with a trainer, chef, the Lypo clinic and her plastic surgeon and she'll be back. She still has 'the machine' behind her. They can still squeeze a hit album and tour out of her.
  4. On all of the 'before' pictures, it seems like they should have been able to do a better job with make up alone. Has anyone ever seen Oprah minus the pancake batter? Make up does wonders.
  5. She'll be hot again and back on the charts again, book it.
  6. His story is about halfway down the page. My favorite part: "NYC is not America, Chicago is not America, Los Angeles is not America....." http://www.suntimes.com/output/quickhits/cst-spt-1hit21.html
  7. She lived in my neighborhood. We'd see her at the bars all the time, REALLY enjoying her cocktails. She's cool as hell. Good to hear about the great pub.
  8. He didn't win the world series......yet. And he got a s*** load of money. Yep, I feel really sorry for him.
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) I would ask LosMediasBlancas "Why did you go with the 'One dinner guest, one question.' thread?" :finger
  10. My only problem with the show is with 'the third panelist'. You know, it's usually a comedian, or an athlete or um Little Richard who know absolutely nothing about social or political issues.
  11. If you could have one person (living or dead) over for dinner who would that person be?.....what would you ask that person?
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) I seriously doubt he breaks it this year, but I bet he breaks it eventually. There's no way that one of the most selfish players in baseball will retire without the record. He'll get it, and it'll be a sad day in the history of baseball. Good point. Even in a 'bad' year for Bonds, he's gonna put up 20-25 hrs. I don't think anyone who is that close to breaking the record wouldn't come back.
  13. Three guys are standing around at a party talking. The 1st guy says: I have an IQ of 170, I'm a neurosurgeon. Second guy says: I have an IQ of 160, I'm a nuclear physicist. Last guy says: I have an IQ of 45. The 1st guy asks: What kind of sticks do you use?
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) But they are an excellent way to kill time while the other band members get blowjobs backstage.... ....and take a piss, do a few more lines, pound a few shots, etc Why doesn't the drummer ever get a break? His job is the most physically demanding.
  15. Drum solos have always seemed kinda out of place in a live band performance setting. They go on for way too long and seem lost on everyone except for other drummers.
  16. that must be some damn good ganja those guys are growing if they believed that they could domesticate a mountain lion. If it really was good ganja, then the contact might have kept the lions pretty chill.
  17. I don't disagree with what she's trying to say neccesarily, but the column is poorly written; "But what about the pitching? A pessimist might say Greg Maddux is old, Mark Prior can't seem to stay healthy and Kerry Wood can't seem to get healthy. But other than that, the staff looks good." Is that a joke?
  18. "...Also Pegboy and The Effigies." Geez, why don't you throw in The Beer Nuts and Mr. Blotto too.
  19. We watched 'The Warriors' last night, a cult classic which I hadn't seen in years. Looks dated and kinda cheesy now, but cool for a little nostalgia.
  20. QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) i just finished watching requiem for a dream and now i'm shaking. I've yet to finish and Aranofski film without being shaken at the end. That said he sets up his shots soo f***ing beautifully. Contrasts colors so wonderfully from the beginning of the film to the end. ANd forces you to take in the reality of the situation. The mother was brilliant. Everyone did a brilliant job. all I can say about that film is: ASS TO ASS! ASS TO ASS! ASS TO ASS!
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Also Pegboy and The Effigies. A personal favorite, Muchacha, is reforming for at least one show on St. Patrick's Day. Duuuuude, Muchacha opened for Local H on V-Day last week at Liars club.
  22. Definately Maybe is my favorite Oasis record. I enjoyed the early drunk, coke snorting arrogant Oasis a lot. Don't Believe The Truth is a decent comeback. Naked Raygun and The Jesus Lizard are best of the older Chicago stuff.
  23. That is encouraging news about Hermy, I hope all the back trouble is over with, but I'll still be nervous about him all year.
  24. The Cubs will do better than people expect now that the spotlight is on the southside.
