Ozzie article in the new Sports Illustrated
LosMediasBlancas replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Whether or not the things Ozzie said about A-Rod are true (and that's debatable) is not the point here. -
B-Mac with the flex, lmao.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) I love it when controversy erupts with Guillen because I can legitimately picture people aggrivated with his comments. I agree it's unneccessary, but it certaintly doesn't upset me. I said it before, and I'll repeat it--Guillen can do no wrong with me. I don't give a s*** what he says, or how much his comments distracts attention from the team. These Guillen quotes always follow a similar path of ascending to a full-scale discussion, then dying down quickly after. Atleast the SI publication waited until our White House visit was over. You're biased. -
Latest chapter in his life. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/base....arrested.0206/

That's like 10 mins. from me. It's the six corner intersection of Damen, Lincoln and Irving Park, but I can't picture the bar. Maybe I'll stumble in and check you guys out.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) What was up with the black dude just walking the halls all casually while all hell was breaking loose only to get shot? It was like dude wanted to get shot. lol, yeah, he was like hmmmm, I hear gun shots and I see dead bodies everywhere, let me see what's going on here. Everyone was just walking the halls, that was most of the film.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) These comments always come at interesting times to say the least. Instead of the media putting the pressure back on us by talking up how we have to repeat, making us favorites or whatever, they're now talking about Ozzie. Maybe I'm giving Ozzie to much credit but it really wouldn't surprise me at all if he does this stuff to get the spotlight off the team. If he thinks there is pressure on this team before the players have even reported to camp, what does he plan to say in mid September? -
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) Yeah, wasn't it Jeff Weaver or Robert Fick he gave a flying kick to? LOL, Weaver I think.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Ozzie sure does like ripping people, especially fellow latins. However, when he was getting some criticism last season during the teams bad run, he talked of quitting. The more he is out in the open with his jabs, the more shots he's setting himself up for. The question will be: Can he take it? I just wish he would take the approach of staying out of people's business he has no right to question. He didn't enjoy it when the mayor questioned his not going to the White House, and there he is popping off about Nomar and ARod. Seems hypocritical, but he hates hypocrites. I'd like to see A Rod and Nomar take the high road on this one and let it go. -

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) You're right, but I still find it funny. People, especially people in the media, do not like to talk openly. There are plenty of people who refuse to speak their mind. As we are seeing, it can be interesting when they do. It definately is funny. The question is, what or who are people really laughing at? I'd say most people are SMART enough to not speak openly to the media. Can't wait to hear Ozzie chime in on Sammy's retirement. -
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) That double brawl between the Sox and Tigers in 2000 was a classic. I especially loved the Sox fans dumping water on the Tigers bullpen pitchers. Was that the time Maggs threw a really girly kick at someone??

A friend added: "Janet always gains weight when she is not working and always loses it in time to promote her albums. Janet always takes care of it when it matters." Sure, when have that kind of loot you can. A little lypo here, a few 'prescription' diet pills there and presto!

I have not read the interview, but I've noticed Ozzie takes some of his worst shots at other Latino ball players. He's becoming a minstrel show for the white media. Hey there's Oz, let's throw some names out and watch him say something stupid that we can print. Some day the Sox will no longer be WS champs. Some day they won't even make the playoffs or might just flat out suck and maybe Ozzie will still be their manager. When that day comes, there will be a line of people waiting to talk a world of s*** about Ozzie. It's easy to dish it out when you're on top. It will be interesting to see if he can take it in return when he's not. -
Give me Martina Hingis in a tennis uniform over any of them. Note: Hingis looks very hot with her hair slicked back into a pony tail and in a tennis uniform. BUT, I've seen her in a dress and heels and with her hair done and it's like looking at a different person. She has more gums than teeth and her hairline starts halfway back on her skull.

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) coachella lineup was pretty weak in my opinion at least compared to the last 2 years. .......but still better than the other big fests. By the way, Intonation will happen again this year, book it.

QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) :rolly listen to Kicking Television...not only is it the best produced live record i've heard in a while, it highlights the amazing addition of Nels CLine and WILL give you a new appreciation for a ghost is born. Plus summerteeth is right up there with YHF for me... she's a jar and via chicago are very beautiful I listened to KT recently and wasn't impressed. I'll give it another lsiten and if I don't like it, you owe me those 45 minutes of my life back.
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) OMG wilco sucks, bad. edit: thats just my opinion, of course Wilco's YHF is a really good record, too bad they blew their entire load on it.

My point about Petty and Raitt is that every big show starts off as a showcase for new bands, but eventually has mainstream stuff thrown in. We've yet to see the Lolla line up, but I think Coachella has the best one so far.

To think this guy ran out onto the field carrying an Ameriacn flag after Sept. 11. He was THE biggest thing in sports for a while. Funny how things change.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) Yes. I liked it. Very well edited. A tad slow at the beginning with no real narrative. Not sure if it is based on the Columbine incident specifically, just an interpretation. Yeah, 50% of the film is kids walking the hallways though.
-
Has anyone seen 'Elephant' by Gus van Zandt? It's based on the Columbine murders, although he doesn't use the same names and details.
-
"In fact, just to say I saw her, I would love to see Bonnie Raitt too." Now you sound like a Cub fan.
