  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) So I found out a mouse was living in my room yesterday and set two of those sticky traps hoping to catch it. Well, there was nothing there this morning, but when I came back from class, the mouse was stuck and shrieking trying to get itself free. Then I felt bad b/c it looked so helpless, but I got a shovel and put it in our dumpster anyway. Poor little guy... On that note, should I set more traps? Is it likely there would be other mice living in my room too? Gotta love piece of s***, college-student houses... You got lucky it didn't happen in the middle of the night. The shrieking would've woken you up. Yes, set more traps.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) uh, what do I put if I live right on madison (the zero line) How far west on Madi?
  3. Biggest chunk is out of state. WOW.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Since so many people here ask for girl advice, I will too! If a girl is flirty with you almost at all times when you see her, texts you a lot, and then sends you a partial nudie picture, does she want you? I'm unsure on this one. Does she live in Russia?

QUOTE (Soxy @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) Yeah, I went with a big group, and a couple of people were like, um? I think I like it? Others (me) liked it and others hated it. I think it really is just like piece of abstract art. But I also love just about everything Charlie Kaufman. IIRC, you're a big fan of PS Hoffman too? Have you seen 'The Savages' or 'Before The Devil Knows You're Dead'? Both pretty solid.

QUOTE (Soxy @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) I saw Synecdoche, NY over the weekend. It's Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut (he also wrote the script). It's an odd movie (like most of what he has penned). It's the story of Caden Cotard who is an innovative theater director/very ill/or total hypochondriac. His wife is an artist, who leaves him (with his daughter) to pursue her art in Berlin along with her very sketchy friend. Around the time his wife leaves him Caden meets an eccentric woman (Hazel) who is pretty strong in her pursuit of Caden. Caden wins a genius grant, and decides to stage a huge monumental play about his life. Which is falling apart even more--his second marriage (to an actress in the play) falls apart because he is completely uninvolved and obsessed with all that he has lost in life. He builds a life-size replica of the town where he lives in an old warehouse and begins staging the play (which never actually opens for an audience). Near the end we see Caden interacting with the actor that plays him, Hazel, the actress that plays Hazel. The movie is kind of hard to explain because Kaufman has no real respect for time--because the movie spans probably 20-50 years of Caden's life, the viewer is always kind of in the dark about the timing of these events. Basically it's a movie about life--and how life is sometimes nothing more than a 60 year long death. The closest analogy I can think of for the movie is a Kafka novel (The Trial is briefly discussed) or maybe the Bob Dylan song Tangled Up in Blue. It's an absurd movie that is often confusing and baffling. But it's a really, really, really honest movie. For me it was kind of a like a work of abstract art, and you don't know exactly what it is, but something in it just draws a really visceral reaction. I really like this movie--it's not for everyone. But there's something raw, aching, and true under all the absurdity and I loved that. A few of us here were left scratching our heads. I'll say this, it is an ambitious film.
  7. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. Allow the drinks to kick in one at a time before reaching for the next one. You'll drink less and save yourself some cash and possibly some embarrassment.

Golden Globe Best Actress- Kate Winslet. right actress, wrong picture.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) have you figured this out yet? No and it's gonna make me crazy. I even saw the film and it doesn't play on it at all.

'Revolutionary Road' was disappointing to say the least.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) While I have a strong feeling I'm incorrect, I feel like it is Antony from Antony and the Johnsons. That was my guess, but as I listened to it over and over, I don't think so.
  12. He doesn't want to name the supplement? Why Not? It's already on shelves at GNC. What he mean is he doesn't want to give them a free endorsement. By the way, is caffeine a banned substance in MLB?
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) I will take the middle one with Kim Kardashians ass. Then she'd be a hot size 10.

QUOTE (The Bones @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) The Producers Guild of America announced nominations for film awards today which is a pretty good indicator for the Oscars' Best Picture race. 4 out of 5 nominees went on to earn Best Picture nominations the last four years. The nominees are... The Curious Case of Benjamin Button The Dark Knight Frost/Nixon Milk Slumdog Millionaire I've only seen TDK so far but plan to see TCCoBB and Doubt this week or next and the other 2 whenever they come near me. That's a shame, 'The Reader' is better than TDK, Milk and SM. Have not seen and have little interest in seeing the other two on the list.
  16. Those are two awful examples of a size 10 and 12.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 06:46 AM) That's "The Wrestler" in a nutshell, really well said. The movie is an interesting little window into the wrestling world, but it doesn't really deliver much else. (except Marisa Tomei, who looks amazing naked even though she has pretty large nipples). The ending was perhaps a little over dramatic, but still satisfying on any important level. The force behind this movie is Rourke and his portrayal of the wrestling version of himself. Rourke bulked up like a madman for this role (i think) and was able to pull off the feel of the "broken down piece of meat" look that this movie required. Rourke looks like the ultimate warrior without the face paint, but his ability to convey innocence, ignorance, vulnerability and sincerity through that facade is the real core of the character. Maybe Rourke was so good because his career mirrors that of "Randy The Ram's" but in any count... it is a brilliant performance. Go see "The Wrestler" for Rourke, Tomei, and the Wrestling Scenes (I haven't watched wrestling since I was ten), don't go see it for the great story. There are some great nuggets of the underbelly of wrestling, but everything else is too underdeveloped to really care about and feels forced. 3.5/4 over sized nipples. You just talked me out of it....and I'm a huge fan of Tomei and her big nipples. I have no interest in a wrestling movie and was really hoping the story and the supporting cast was strong.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) Michael Clayton was so boring. Bardem put the creeps in everyone during NCFOM I seriously fell in and out sleep a few times during MC.....and I saw it at the show.
  19. OK fellow music geeks, I need your help. In the trailer for 'Revolutionary Road', the song is "Wild Is The Wind" originally done by Nina Simone. Many people have done versions of it, who did the one in this trailer? If you look up the film's soundtrack, the song is not listed. The voice is so familiar. http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/revol...ry-road/trailer

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but Travolta's 16 year old kid died suddenly of a seizure while with his family in the Bahamas. Tragic and weird. Off topic, 'Revolutionary Road' is getting lots of serious praise, but nothing about the trailer makes me want to see it. Has anyone read the book?
  21. QUOTE (beautox @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 01:18 AM) So this year 2009, I thought I would use it for the betterment of myself; So I made the following resolutions for myself. Speak Spanish at an intermediate level by the end of the year. Lose 50 pounds, I'm currently sitting at 269, I'm 6'4 as it stands though. For the Spanish speaking half I've gotten a hold of Michel Thomas Spanish CDs. I can honestly say this is the best way ive ever approached learning a new language and id strongly recommend his method to anyone looking to learn and speak a new language. Right now i've got his 8 cd set sitting on my ipod and i recently learned how to made full pdfs into albums on iphoto so i put the accompanying book on my ipod as well. for the weight loss, thats only a pound a week a for a year. I'll accomplish this by running again and and cutting pop and fast food out of my diet and cooking more meals myself, also i recently got the book eat this not that! its been pretty helpful. Those are good goals and you have good plans. Is Spanish becoming a need, or just something you've wnated to do? Keep us updated and good luck.
  22. QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 11:05 PM) I had a great time at the WC until I ran into this interview. Ronniewoowoo I learned two things, he can't name one current Hawks player and he has no clue that Obama is a Sox fan.

Most of you won't see it, but 'The Reader' is the best film I've seen this year. It takes you through a lot of emotions without ever being sappy. The trailers and previews don't give away the best parts, which is a good thing. If you have 10 bucks and two hours to play with, see this film. I'd love to hear some feedback.

I'm trying to remember if Pinto has more than 5 lines in the film. Nothing about her stood out. 'Cute' is a good word to describe her, not hot, not beautiful...just cute. http://www.freidapinto.com/ga9.html
  25. One comment: The seats were too far away from the ice. I understand that the size of the rink is small in comparison to a baseball field.
