I'm trying to recall any unusually muscular baseball players from the 70's. Any ball player who was juicing in the 70's was getting ripped off.

Name Change? Anything else needed?

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) go to google.com and type in soxtalk and whatever else is key to the search. Thanks, that worked, but what about the search option on here? -
'Californication' is the best show I've seen on TV. Anyone else been following it ?
-
Yes. Will never happen.

I'm too lazy to read. How does the search option work...or does it? I'm trying to find an old thread I started about Showtime, the cable station, thx. -
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Oct 6, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Went to see the Foo in Charlotte on Friday night. 2 solid hours of Foo goodness. Another solid show from Grohl and the boys, granted it would take a HELLUVA shiotty show for me to say bad things about Grohl, Hawkins, Shiflett and Nate. It was interesting though, they had Pat Smear on stage as well, from early Foos guitar fame. They also had a violin/cello player, piano player, and a 2nd drummer out with them. It REALLY made things sounds fantastic. I think I'm gonna put a power weekend of concerts together, and before anyone even says it, yes I know most of you won't like 90% of the people I'm going to go see. Saturday, November 4th - Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Seether in Clemson, SC Sunday, November 5th - Cute is What We Aim For, Plain White T's, Gymclass Heroes, Fall Out Boy (not a fan of most of these, but I've wanted to see FOB a while now) in Clemson, SC Monday, November 6th - Chris Cornell in Charlotte, NC Be sure to give us a Cornell review. I saw Soundgarden many years ago and have never again had the pleasure if listening to him live.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2007 -> 09:01 AM) I saw a couple who displayed some emotion. Namily an older lady who said "I don't have much more time to wait till next year...". I felt bad for her. Then there was a guy in a red shirt who just kept yelling "I don't care, I don't care, I'm a die hard Cubs fan.. I don't care...." I'm not quite sure what he was trying to say but apparently he didn't care and he is a die hard Cubs fan. I agree, the older people are the ones I feel bad for. They are the few who have suffered through 50, 60, 70+ years of losing. But these 17 year olds crying and rolling around on the ground talking about the agony of 100 years of losing, GMAFB.

Every time I see pictures like these, all I can think is that some Cub fans want the team to keep losing so that they can continue to pose for more pity shots.
-
Assuming the Indians and Bo-Sox advance, that ALCS will be the WS in my eyes. They are the two best teams in the AL and the NL gets no love from me. Now watch the Cubs storm back and just annihilate everyone from this point on.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) Here is one for Rock, a tramp stamp that reads like a book. This is the type that gets the wedding magazines delivered to her house, even through she isnt seeing anyone seriously. That's a guy.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 07:38 AM) I wasnt even really trying to justify getting your own name I just think getting somebody elses name is a bad idea. Even if you did get a new tat over it when you saw the new one it would still make you think of whoever the original was for even though its covered up. Getting your name is also retarded UNLESS maybe it was a nickname which still is a stretch but its better than your real name. LOL, I hear ya.

Well, since the Cubs are so worthy of being in the post season, let's see a team that had a .525 winning % during the regular season take 3 of 4 now. Actually I think the Cubs wil come back tonight, but 3 out of 4?

Frank was always at his worst with a mic and camera in front of him. Something tells me broadcasting is not in his future.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 12:48 AM) No way. No matter how happy you are with someone something drastic could happen. Say you got one of a wife or girlfriends name and she cheated on you with one of your friends or something bad. Everytime you saw that thing after that it would be an instant reminder of it. Easily fixed, you just get a cover up tattoo done on top of it. But your own name?? That's just silly. "Hey ladies I'm LosMediasBlancas, check it out, it says so right here on my arm."

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) I gave it a few more listens, and I grew to like Neon Bible somewhat, but I just can't get into Funeral. I just don't get it. If you guys are that hard up for music, we'll share OK Computer with ya, we're generous like that...

I enjoy a nice Shiraz or Pinot Noir. I hate white wine.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) I think that needs to be one of the messages, yes, in order for the movie to be faithful to the material. It doesn't have to be THE point, as there are certainly other themes present, as you point out. My fear is more than the film will make him out to be a hero. I don't find him to be a hero - I find him to be selfish and short-sighted, and his family and friends paid the price. If that isn't a strong message, then the movie will miss the mark. You're probably right about the hero aspect. Penn has been doing a lot of press for the film. He was on Oprah and Charlie Rose recently. I don't think Penn read the book and thought: "here's a really, really stupid kid, I think I'll make a film about him". I'm glad you're gonna see the film, give us a review.

You could have put any name after the "or" and I woould have gone with that option. Question for those of you who think Uribe is good enough to keep his job mostly for defensive purposes. What would his offensive stats (OBP+BA) need to be in order for you think it's time for him to go. Throw some numbers at me.

Dave Grohl is one of those few guys who exudes rock n roll.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 1, 2007 -> 08:26 AM) Having read the book, and being an outdoorsman, I will probably see this movie, and probably hate it. The moral of the story, really, is that that kid was very, very, very stupid. The book does understand that. But I somehow see this movie trying to somehow make his "journey" into something accidental or even heroic. I hope I'm wrong. Sure the kid did some reckless things and made stupid mistakes, but was his pursuit and search for whatever he was searching for stupid? If the film makes the same point that he was a very, very, very stupid kid, will you find the film more enjoyable?

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) "Into The Wild"? Anyone? Would like to see it Tuesday if it is playing near me. Are you kidding? It's Sean Penn, I'm geeked !!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 29, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) Or a wive or husband's name. I can see getting married, buying a house, having a few kids, but a tattoo!? It's so permanent I can understand a spouse's name before your own name.
