  1. I've been laughing at the Twins for each of the past seven winters and come the following fall, it's them doing the laughing.
  2. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) Do yourselves a favor and check out The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. I agree. Saw it at the theaters, you wouldn't be pissed at giving up 4 bucks for it. Have not been able to find anything even remotely interesting at the video store lately. Any recommendations?
  3. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) "Pursuit of Happyness" is really depressing. Something bad happens to Will Smith (who's really quite good) in every scene for 2 hours, but there is a 5 minute long happy ending. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. What the film doesn't cover is his childhood, by the time the film takes over, believe it or not, his life is actually changing for the better. Unfortunately, there are many, many people who live their entire lives with that kind of bad luck. It's not as easy to get out of a circle pf poverty as some people would like to believe. That's why his story is so remarkable. Great story, so-so film.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 08:07 AM) 1. I'd suggest it is a lot like blond hair and blue eyes, actually. In both cases, that maybe a natural blond, or a societally pressured blond. Who knows? 2. Why does anyone give a crap what other people do with their sex lives anyway? Its really not my business. And it sure as heck isn't the government's either. Why? Don't you know that gays are responsible for the decay in our society's morals and smear the sanctity of marriage? It's not the 50% divorce rate...among heteros.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) What is it with 30 Seconds to Mars and weeeeeeird videos? Dunno, but they are one of the worst live acts ever.
  6. This was right in my back yard, almost literally. Ford lived in Rancho Mirage and was really loved by the people around here. This area came to an almost complete stop these past few days. RIP.
  7. If was a pro athlete, I would not have even thought about marriage until WELL after retirement, or as Alec Baldwin put it in 'The Cooler', "until the pu**y confetti stopped falling."
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) There's now a video of it on LiveLeak.com. Boooooo, for a guy who was slick enough to sneak a cell phone in, his camera work got s***tier and s***tier as the action got better and better. I want my money back.
  9. If you can't find anything that grabs you the next time you're at the video store, pick up 'Sorry, Haters' watch it and then explain it to me. By the way, 'Bobby' is pointless, but for some reason I didn't hate it.
  10. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Hm .. Shingo? Although he was part of the '05 team for a bit. Definately Shingo.
  11. I heard it was a heart attack.
  12. Doesn't he now almost HAVE to unload Buehrle asap? Otherwise, I really don't understand the plan.
  13. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 22, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) nothing good happens between the hours of 3am and 5am.... all of these kinds of stories involve the alleged culprit doing something stupid at like 4 in the morning. I dunno, some of my best times have been between 3am and 5 am.
  14. Not a bad thought, but was strengthening the pen due to the fact that K-Dubs knew they were gonna weaken the rotation?
  15. Never had the pleasure of seeing him perform and I'll always regret it. Thanks for the sounds James, RIP.
  16. Rented "Edmond' last night. You either love or hate Mamet and that's how you'll feel about this film. William H. Macy is impressing me more and more with every film he's in. I love Mamet's writing.
  17. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Reading this thread is really reminding me of some previous threads regarding trades. And on that note, how goes Cooperstown's efforts to get Olivo's bust bronzed for his impending HOF ceremony? I swear -- for many people on this board -- if KW walked on water, you'd complain about him not swimming. We've still got a few months before spring training, let alone the start of the season. A trade or some FA work may still be possible. It's also amazing that McCarthy who has shown flashes of being very good but hasn't been able to put it together is automatically, again in many peoples' responses here, going to overtake Johan Santana in 2007 for the AL Cy Young. Take off the homer blinders and look at this pragmatically please. Just like the Garcia trade to Philly. People thought we didn't get enough for him. Yet everybody here was joking about how bad Garcia was all last year (my favorite being Kalapse's Flamethrower Freddy with the 86 mph speed gun saying "Intimidation had a New Name") I'm personally amazed that we got something more than a sack of scuffed balls for him. Never mind. Forget I said anything. Continue with the complaints that the sky is falling and the end of the world is at hand. Never mind that all the prospect trading over the past seasons might just mean that we may need to restock a little bit. I'm not defending KW, I'm just pleading for a little reason here rather than emotional "OMG!!!11! WE'RE GONNA BE WORSE THAN DA ROYELS THIS YEAR!" knee-jerk responses. "And on that note, how goes Cooperstown's efforts to get Olivo's bust bronzed for his impending HOF ceremony?" QOTM right there, good stuff.
  18. The Hold Steady will be playing the HOB in Chicago on NYE. Man I'm home sick
  19. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Pitchfork ranks the top 50 albums of the year: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/feat..._of_2006/page_5 #1 - The Knife - Silent Shout At #5 The Hold Steady. NICE . WOW, Pitchfork with a good pick. I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  20. I was warned but I went and saw it anyway. 'Apocalypto' is unfortunately nothing more than a jungle action movie. Graphic violence and absurd situations, I'm shocked it hasn't grossed a trillion dollars. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 20, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) Napolean Dynamite = Bad Wes Anderson rip-off but without the intelligence or heart. Terrible movie and all of it's "great lines" are complete throw-aways. I don't understand the following it gets. Anchorman has it's moments. I would never call that movie "dry". 40 Year Old Virgin could have been great, but the fact that it's running length makes Lord Of The Rings (yes, the whole trilogy) feel like a friggin' Tom and Jerry short hurts it something terrible. I liked it, but by the time it ended I was really ready for it to end. C'mon KG, didn't you wet your pants during the dance scene in Napoleon Dynamite?
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) They shoulda had some hidden White Sox logos in lights. Ya think?
  22. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Dec 20, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) Oh man... this is hilarious. world's dumbest criminal Who was working the zoom on the security camera?
