LOST! thread
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) not even close. Heroes>Lost at this point i've heard a lot of really varying opinions on heroes. people seem really divided by it. some think it's just a great story and gives you the answers you don't get from lost. others say it is overly simple and written like crap. i do like the concept and will probably give it a look at some point. incidentally, to fill the time between lost i've just started the alias series on dvd. great stuff. (no spoilers, please).

Tell your best
not really a funny story, but one i enjoyed. a real point of contention between my ex-wife and i was my work schedule. i worked at a newspaper and mostly had night and weekend hours. she rode me endlessly about it, even as i was the only one providing for the family. i finally had a new prospect come up, that not only had regular hours, but also better pay and a decently high profile. but i had to wait until the guy filling that job found a new one. i told my ex about it and she was skeptical to the point of making fun of me when i brought up the prospect. finally, things came to a head between us. we separated. two weeks later i got that job.

College Football Tidbits
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) http://www.cobrabrigade.com/2007/06/big_te...ram_in_bi_1.php Great writeup about the situation with IU football. although it doesn't sound good you have to hope for the best for coach hep. he is, by all accounts, a great coach and a better man.

Turning point of the season
the loss to the twins where we came back to take the lead against santana on memorial day. when we took the lead i really felt it had the potential to catapult this team into better things, because generally when we are trailing against santana, we lose. to end up losing that game in the fashion that it ended was demoralizing and set the tone for what we've seen since.

Ken Griffey Jr heading to Atlanta?
personally, i'd tend to draw a distinction between dye and buehrle. to me, although both are in the final years of contracts, they are different cases. dye has been a great player for the sox, but i tend to think fans are always naturally less attached to players who aren't homegrown and arrived via free agency. plus, even with him in the offense it is sucking badly, so what's the real difference between a sucky offense with him now and a sucky offense without him? with all that in mind, i'd be comfortable with trading him today, tomorrow, whenever. buerhle is an entirely different case. he's homegrown, a fan favorite, has thrown a no-hitter this year, and has been one of the few reasons we're not already 162 games out of first. trading him right now would be a nightmare in terms of p.r., and i would not advocate trading him at this point. now, say the season progresses and we fall hopelessly out of it (which is likely) then you look at it. now is not the time to trade him, though.

Paris Hilton out of jail?
QUOTE(juddling @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) I'm willing to bet within 2 months of her getting out, there will be video of her getting out of a club, stumbling around, and getting behind the wheel. As weird as it is to say....i wouldn't mind if she ran into me while driving neither would i because i'd be a rich man after i sued her for all that hotel jack. *puts on neck brace*

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) Again, Thomas not committed to Ohio State: http://www.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/stories/060707aao.html probably a wise move on his choice since he'd taken a limited amount of visits. i still think he ends up at ohio state, though. for the most part matta gets who he wants.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) What is your prognosis thedoctor? given our recent stretch of luck, i'd have to think the worst possible scenario for the white sox is what will happen. however, i must say that i'm not a real doctor, i just play one on internet message boards.

The Reason This Team is Bad, and Yes: It's Ozzie's Fault
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) If the offense is medicore in April and May we can tack on about 6 or more wins onto our tally. The offense is to blame for our place in the standings. They decided to take April, May and it looks like June so far off. The bullpen has been bad, but we dont score runs. How many times have we put up 3 or less runs, in the American league. You need to score 4 or more to have a chance to win. We should be scoring 5 or more with our park, and with the guys we have. pretty much. the offense's shortcomings have really magnified what could otherwise be small issues. i think the underperformance (dye, konerko, iguchi) and injuries (podsednik, erstad, thome, crede) have taken a toll here. it's just been one big ball of suck.
