QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 1, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) Artest has a whole album of this stuff, does he not? yeah, but that's ron artest we're talking about. people know ron's crazy. that he would be crazy and a mysogynist is no great leap. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 1, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) David Haugh never went to college You can read about this stuck up prick b**** about it. Seriously, has he never been in a college dorm? i didn't have much of a problem with the column. i think slezak and mariotti hit olsen harder. and fwiw, haugh went to and played football at ball state. he was a defensive back. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 07:23 AM) I'm not familiar with this "8-9 wins" phrase that you speak of. they come sometime after two. i think.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 12:43 AM) I heard from a friend at UofI that the D looked like s***. Was the defense that bad or is my friend just a tard? the first team d only played the second team o. my friend who was at the game said he thought the first team looked so-so, although there is some potential on the d-line. j leman sat out with a foot injury. the second team d looked crappy, as evidenced by juice and rejus's numbers.

illinois had its scrimmage saturday. about 10,000 showed, which isn't great but was better than last year. juice williams and rejus benn both were strong. williams was 14-of-23 for 301 yards and no interceptions. he had 42 rushing yards. benn had five catches for 145 yards and five rushes for 42 yards. on the downside, illinois's offensive line gave up six sacks and looked poor.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) Once the 2008 class rolls in, they will be nasty. They have Conley part 2, BJ Mullens and a whole slew of athletes. Im looking forward to it. mullens is real good. i've seen him twice and he impressed me both times. i like him much more than i like koufos. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Crazy!!!! Once Cook finds out he is not a top draft pick, nor a first rounder, hes going to have second thoughts. I guess OSU is going to have to lean on the 6th best freshmen class in the country... i dunno. chad ford's blog today had cook as a mid- to late-first rounder. if he gets that from scouts i can't see him staying. nor can i really see him staying if conley and oden go. osu's class next year is good, but the program will still take a step back. none of those kids are comparable to oden or conley really. plus, the buckeyes are painfully thin at guard and exceptionally thin at point guard. i'm guessing evan turner backs up butler next year and that is not an ideal situation. two years from now, though, the buckeyes will be nasty. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) He should probably go to davidson where he'd get significant playing time... i'm not sure he'd get significant time at davidson, at least next year. that team returns all five starters and a few bench guys. 2008 davidson=2007 butler.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) For the Illini guys: I have heard from impeachable sources that Michael Jordan's boy Jeffery may very well walk-on this year with Weber. He has already been accepted academically and U of I is now awaiting an admission on his part. If so, that would be kind of fun. Jeffery is an alright basketball player--he is pretty fundamentally sound, but lacks a bit on the talent side of the equation (not even in the same breath as his old man's athleticism at that age). It's some nice PR and it may give Weber the upper-hand with Marcus Jordan (a four-star SG that actually projects to be of Big Ten caliber). Also, I've heard Weber may have some big names (not necessarily from the 2007 class as the scholarships are pretty well maxed out) on campus in the coming days. I'll tell you what; he stepped in a pile of s*** with the Gordan thing and may come out smelling like a rose. He put together a whale of a class, all things considered, and may have some surprises in store for 2008 and beyond. I have become a bit more optimistic about the state of Illinois basketball over the past couple of weeks. Keep the good vibes going. yeah, i've heard the same. there would be nothing bad about this at all. here's a story: newspaper

i've been to a few columbus clipper games. usually a good time. cheap beer, good baseball, and rarely croweded. cooper stadium is pretty cruddy, but they're building a new stadium downtown that should be pretty sweet.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) From CNN.com: Developing Story - Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui is believed to have sent a package of images and writings received by NBC news organization that police say may be critical to their investigation. supposedly he sent this between the first and second shootings. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Roe is top 5 actually and was a big lean to UNC for the longest time, Roy Williams was in complete shock when Roe called to let him know it was MSU. He's a great get, very similar to Thaddeus Young in my opinion. word up this way is that roe wanted to go to carolina but his parents wanted him closer to home. as for legion, i think he'd be a great fit at ucla with afflalo just declaring.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) Weird, I wasn't doubting you. It's just interesting to see we were recruiting for openings that we didn't have. perhaps it was a hedge in case dj declared. who knows, this recruiting business usually makes little to no sense.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) These 2 late signings really make me feel better about this class. Looks like Bruce has some decent talent to work with. It will be interesting to see the kind of minutes they get next year. at the end of the day it's a good class. it lacks star-quality so it will be overlooked somewhat, but it addresses the most glaring needs the program had (lack of athleticism, lack of point guard depth, lack of leadership, etc.). overall, i'm satisfied. nice recovery by the staff. i am sure some hard work and many frequent flyer miles went into this one.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Weird, I don't know how our name was ever linked to the guy, considering we were struggling to figure out how Deandre Thomas was getting on next year's team. here's where i saw the iu reference

illinois rounds out its 2007 class 6-7 juco forward rodney alexander. also pursued by oklahoma, kansas state, kentucky, tennessee, and indiana.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) The Tennessee boards say that UT decided not to bring Alexander in for a visit; they decided not to offer him. I find that more believable than Weber outrecruiting Pearl for a player. like clockwork.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) His size needs some work too, but he may go. Either they all stay or all go. Either way, OSU just reloads again. true, but they will take a big step back next year if those three goes. losing those three, plus lewis and harris, is significant. osu will bring some talented players in, no doubt, but none of those guys are close to conley or oden. they do have a seven-footer coming in, but he'd rather sit on the perimeter and shoot 3s. that said, in the long term their future is incredibly bright. they just will take a step back next year.
