The Dawning of the Age of Sizemore/ Sox vs Cubs game thread 7:10 first pitch 8/9/24
The only thing we heard was the Dodgers wouldn't even offer Dalton Rushing.

The Dawning of the Age of Sizemore/ Sox vs Cubs game thread 7:10 first pitch 8/9/24
Theoretically can work in either any direction. Theoretically he should be tired already . Theoretically he may be doing more harm than good by continuing to pitch as a starter with a 75 pitch limit or by pitching at all. No one really knows. But some people will be right because we are pretty much offering every type of opinion.

A bunch of bums and often injured players playing like bums and piling up injuries and trading any player they could trade at last year's deadline and the off season and slashing payroll and getting 20 games worse doesn't seem really really hard to me. Was a historically bad team predictable ? Probably not but predicting a 100 win team to win 120 isn't all that predictable either. What was predictable was the Sox were going to be just as bad if not worse after everything I described above. Has Getz contributed to further erosion of future Sox teams ? Absolutely. But maybe not to degree that has so many people up in arms . I will agree that Getz has not shown the ability to maximize major trades. But even then position player prospects hoarding has become widespread and opposing GMs are aware that Getz is under the gun by JR to dump salary. They treat the Sox like they should be grateful they are making any offers.- Pedro Grifol, Charlie Montoyo, Eddie Rodriguez, & Mike Tosar Fired (Grady Sizemore interim manager)
I'm not sure that's a criteria for a team to be good or even to show progress. Think about what you said. You cannot CLEARLY STATE very few players in any franchise will be starting for the same organization they are in now in 2028. We'd like to say Schultz and Smith but realistically one cannot CLEARLY STATE it. One man's opinion is different than another's so clearly stating anything is ambiguous enough to sound like a clever thing to say but what does it mean? Does it mean accurately predict or just have a strong opinion about it ? When you take into account Free Agency trades ,regression, injuries, maybe only the teams with the best young player talent or stars locked up long term you can do that. Rutschman ,Henderson Holliday , Westburg ,Cowser, Kjerstad, Basallo, Mayo, Urias. Those are the Orioles top young players and prospects. I'm probably missing 1 or 2 but do you think you can name 3 that will be in the O's starting lineup in 2028? Does starting mean start over 50 % of games. I would assume starting pitching counts too. Is there any one O's pitcher you can clearly state will be a mainstay in the rotation ? This should be the easy team to do it with because they are a top team with the best young talent. But 2028 is a long time from now. s%*# happens. Try doing the same thing with teams hovering around .500 with a bunch of guys who are eligible for Free Agency in 2025,26 and 27. How are Judge,Freeman and Betts going to be in 2028 ? Not trying to be a dick but you can't really be challenged on it because its 3 years down the line so no one's going to keep track of it.- Pedro Grifol, Charlie Montoyo, Eddie Rodriguez, & Mike Tosar Fired (Grady Sizemore interim manager)
It's time but it's Reinsdorf who doesn't like playing in the system in the Dominican Republic. Too much talent there is based on handshake agreements before they are 17. And in general he's never committed a lot of resources to scouting and PD.- Pedro Grifol, Charlie Montoyo, Eddie Rodriguez, & Mike Tosar Fired (Grady Sizemore interim manager)
Crystal ballsy . Don't know how you came to that conclusion 1-18 since the break. Predicting alternate outcomes based on 19 games with a new manager when you have the same players is odd. How many more wins do you think a managerial change would've meant ?- Gamethread 8/7: We're #1 at #2

A few minutes after securing the win the World shook in So Cal. 5.7 Earthquake. I felt a good jolt. Not sure if it was felt in Oakland.- Gamethread 8/6: "Taylor" Made

Congratulations !! Show us your check Or however they do it now. I haven't made a bet since I won $4K on Superbowl XXXVII in 2003.- Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
You do not know that he would traded without the extension demand. Beside why you even upset ? If I picked a 100-1 horse to win a race and he won only because the horse leading the pack broke his leg down the stretch , I still win don't I ? Am I now required to know the exact reason why he won to cash my ticket ? There were already plenty of reasons why he wouldn't be traded. The extension demand just made one more. I played the odds. I won you lost. Rationalize it all you want .- Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
My post history shows what I predicted over and over and that was the end result . Predicting an exact sequence of events is impossible so why would you think I would know EXACTLY what would happen ? I'm acting like I had an opinion on that the original poll question asked about who would be traded and the ensuing reasons that I felt that way. The discussion has always been would Crochet and Robert be traded ? My answer was consistently no for both even when you insisted I was naive because I still believed Crochet wouldn't be traded even after Nightingale said he most certainly would be. You were dead wrong aligning yourself with Nightengale and are pissed that through it all I stuck to my guns . You have consistently pushed back against my opinions by failing to understand that the likelihood of him or Robert being traded was slim from the start because of major red flags and asking price. The extension announcement never changed that calculus . The only thing that changed was Crochet driving home this point : If I stay healthy enough to make it through a full season I will have pitched way more innings than most have expected. Frankly I am already past that point. I attribute this to the routine I am on. Expecting me to go even further beyond that point and pitch in the post season and possibly change my routine is extremely risky not only to my health and ability to bounce back next year but also to my career earnings ability. I will not be forced into a position that compromises those things without compensation. It's real easy to understand that side of his argument . He was already above and beyond limits not many expected him to reach . He would rather stick to his routine rather than alter it and risk his whole career . Essentially without an extension a team would be telling him to do things that could cost him $100,000,000M+ .Would you do that ? Staying with the Sox at least insured that he can continue to do things his way.- 8/3 Sox @ Twinkies 6:10PM - Road to 19
Start of this inning I was typing Losing time. I looked up to hit submit and nothing was there so I thought screw it. It's no fun predicting the easily predictable.- 8/3 Sox @ Twinkies 6:10PM - Road to 19
