Everyone please feel free to use the postponed game to talk White Sox baseball. Just refrain from being dicks and getting the thread closed since I'm using it for tomorrows game and I don't want to make a new one. I know we are at the height of skepticism about the team's chances in the 1st round. The Sox are going to clinch their 1st division title in 13 years and although it may ring hollow please celebrate that. Some of you may have changed from a 20 something to 40 yrs old in that time. Some may have gone bald and got a lot more gray in their hair or put on 25 lbs., so let's appreciate some progress in the organization because of the rebuild. Thank you ya fat, bald, old bastards.

Last time I started a game thread the Sox won 5 in a row at the end of June and into July. This is the time that I have been saying ( the last 7-10 games) I want to see the Sox play the guys we are going to see in every playoff game. Time to put the last 2 months in the past and be the team we should be. It's time to gel so let's go and finish strong ! Today's game is Reynaldo Lopez pitching against Casey Mize . It's time to come alive, flip the switch and right the ship. All cliches aside, Let's Fucking Go ! Time to rock and roll and bring the good mojo and juju back ! Good vibrations !

Thanks I knew being 24 I must ve missed something so he had a 5th year in college. Still no runs given up in 18 innings between the ACL and Kanny isn't bad.

You're probably right. I figured as it looks now Romy won't have a place on the post season roster but the Sox might still be trying to see which pitchers to bring so they might get longer looks.

I posted this yesterday since you are looking for pitching. Probably not enough innings to get one of your awards but intriguing reliever.

Yep all their OF options are missing some aspect to their game that Adam has. With Engel you get speed , defense and some power. No matter who is pitching he should be in the lineup and if he gets injured again so be it , you still have all the guys who have been playing OF anyway. Get Adam up to speed asap.

If you watched the game today some time in the 2nd inning they said that the offense has only had 3 games with these 6 guys in it all season, Tim, Robert, Abreu Eloy Grandal and Moncada. They won each game against the Cubs 17-13, Angels 9-3 and Rangers 8-0. Maybe that will give you some hope. Very soon maybe in the last 7-10 games of the season we should start seeing that lineup more often.

We can all see stats but they don't tell the future . Playoff appearances here are so rare that I try not to expect anything. I'm not going to expect to dominate or be dominated. I don't expect certain pitchers or hitters to be better than others. Once the playoff start it's a new but much shorter season where anyone can surprise you.

Actions speak louder than words. It doesn't matter what he says, its what he does that will get him a good contract, so why bother trying to fake it with words ?

I swear Cesar, Goodwin and some times Moncada have that I've hit the bong look about them. I know that's not fair at all .

Why is that interesting ? Eloy is playing LF. I must be missing something.

It will be very interesting what position players make the playoff roster. I would suppose it will depend on what the Sox feel is more valuable against Houston, speed , defense or more left handed power . Engel would seem like a lock over Vaughn and Goodwin but it's difficult to judge based on his mere 105 AB's . Where does Hamilton fit in ? How often can he be used as a defensive replacement and pinch runner. Do the Sox carry 2 or 3 catchers for the 1st round ? Vaughn is 4 for his last 50 AB's without any extra base hits and we haven't seen him since Sept. 9 . He could be in danger of losing a post season spot. Is Sheets more valuable than Vaughn for the playoffs based on health and power against RHP ? Basically it'll be a choice between Goodwin, Sheets, Vaughn, Hamilton and a 3rd catcher. That's 5 guys for how many spots are available ? That too depends on how many pitchers they carry.

Just perusing the box scores looking for anything interesting and looked up Haylen Green. 2021 20th rd pick from TCU . Started in ACL promoted to Kanny . He's been in 9 games with 10 IP without giving up any runs , 14 K, 0 BB. .60 WHIP. While in the ACL he pitched 8 innings and gave up 0 runs . He's 24 yrs old. 5'11" 185 and pitched for TCU. Here's a rundown of his Senior year. 2020 (Senior) Led the team with eight appearances... did not allow a run over 17 2/3 innings pitched... pitched multiple innings in six of eight appearances... tallied 19 strikeouts and issued just five walks... was 1-0 with a save... did not allow any of his 10 inherited runners to score... made season debut on Feb. 14 against Kentucky... earned the win in relief after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings... tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings at Minnesota (Feb. 23) with three strikeouts... retired all five batters faced and fanned two in an appearance against Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 26)... struck out three and allowed two hits in 2 2/3 innings against California (Feb. 28)... retired the only two batters faced to pick up the save in Game 2 against Cal (Feb. 29)... pitched two scoreless innings against UT Arlington (March 3)... was brilliant at USC, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings with a season-high seven strikeouts... final appearance came against Vanderbilt (March 8). So basically he hasn't given up a run in his last 35 2/3 IP . Could be longer depending on how he finished his Junior year at TCU. I have no idea about his stuff. Probably isn't overwhelming considering he lasted to the 20th round but he does appear at least by his stats to know how to pitch.

Oh I saw baseball reference had Eaton listed because I checked but it doesn't make any sense. I pretty sure all the other players listed as similar to Gio are all pitchers. NVM there was a pitcher named Adam Eaton lol. That's the part I couldn't find.

Something does not compute with Adam Eaton listed as similar to Gio. Why they would have a position player listed as similar to a starting pitcher ?

The changes to his stance help so much with executing his plan. He's seeing the ball better so he gets that extra split second to decide to swing or not or locate the pitch and just crush it or even just put the ball in play. With his strength and bat speed just making more contact improves his hitting tremendously.

You just could have merged the threads and not said anything to me. No need to be defensive about it. I'm just doing my part to keep the place efficient. I think you do a great job as an admin which I certainly wouldn't want to do.
