Do guys get the rookie treatment in the NL or are these umps just so bad ? I know Moncada's approach left something to be desired last year but seems like him and Eloy get a lot of terrible calls on pitches off the plate. Just seems like we see more instant stars from rookies in the NL but all umps work in both leagues don't they ?

There's just a lot to overcome. I know the money talks creedo but it's definitely hard to see the Sox going on a spending spree and even if they do who's going to beleive they make the right choices or might prefer to start throwing prospects around over the winter .

I think its more of a wait and see for many approach. After all the quality of our FA's has been less than stellar and big FA names have been few and far between not to mention the same guys are in charge who never have signed a big ML FA. Plus JR seems to be umm che... I mean risk adverse to signing pitchers long term.

Add Robert and Madrigal too. Get rid of whoever is in their way. I look at it like this, If the Sox plan to compete next year and spend money on some free agents then that starts our competitive window in 2020. So lets say a 5 year open window to win a World Series . So if you bring up Robert and Madrigal now they mainly have to be good in that window so the service time after that shouldn't matter because the guys we brought up 1st like Giolito Lopez Moncada will be approaching FA if they are still here. Let them all start playing together now and hopefully Vaughn can jump a couple levels next year and join them in 2021 or end of 2020. Fans may flock to see those guys all together now.

Catcher is a grueling position. He was very consistently good the 1st half. That's baseball. Players get tired they have peaks and valleys.. He's probably got 5x more WAR than anyone expected from him this year.

Seems like one of the few teams who really value winning another World Series. I'm talking to you Yankees and Dodgers And what did the Red Sox do ? Phillies ? Twins at least did something . Braves did good.
