  1. No not even close to $100M if you remember the Fangraphs ranking of FA's about a month ago. Scroll down to #9. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2020-top-50-free-agents/
  2. Look I get it. Everyone wants to make the playoffs . It's just my personal belief that even with Wheeler and whoever the 2nd starter we acquire turns out to be we are still too far from making the playoffs. So much has to go right starting with getting Wheeler and another pitcher which is a big obstacle right there. It's premature to spend assets on Joc and it isn't ridiculous saying unless we make the playoffs he's useless no more so than me saying your notions about making the playoffs is ridiculous or your faith in Kopech and Cease next year.
  3. Better get Wheeler then before Joc wouldn't you agree ? And 1 or 2 of Lopez, Kopech or Cease have the kind of year Gio had. Otherwise you still have a 2 good starters in Wheeler and Gio if neither regress of course. Not enough to make the playoffs or go very far in them.
  4. Apparently ChicagoWhiteSox the poster likes Sheets so he might. If you think the Dodgers will take Sheets and /or Gonzales for Pederson apparently you don't think highly of them but the Dodgers should. Round and round we go.
  5. Thank you ! My point exactly. No one knows who will reach full potential and trading Rutherford or whoever for 1 year of Joc in a season where Joc is useless if we don't make the playoffs is just a poor choice rather than giving your so called fringe OF prospects another year.
  6. Almost is hand grenades and horseshoes.
  7. 2 in a thousand apparently but Sox haven't made a thousand prospect trades since the Semien trade so I guess its not even close to one in a thousand unless the Sox are really really bad at self scouting so I'm supposed to trust your evaluation over the FO. The Dodger are a very good team and not in a rebuild so losing a potential superstar is not nearly the same as it is for the Sox. The Dodger have unlimited payroll , the Sox do not.
  8. Yes they do have differing opinions all the time .If the Dodgers had interest in Fulmer why didn't they acquire him ? You aren't getting Pederson for fringe prospects like you mentioned. You honestly think our fringe prospects ( loosely translated as your opinion of our fringe prospects) will top all other offers for him ?
  9. Tell that to Semien and Tatis, Jr. and all those who saw no value in them when those trades went down and were pining for us to resign Samardzija. Same thing will happen if we acquire Joc. What will it take to resign him over and over again until he chooses Free Agency.
  10. So you don't see value in Rutherford but the Dodgers should ?
  11. Maybe I should ve mentioned Tatis also. I think an extra year for them all is in the Sox best interest. The Dodgers have a lot of good players and can afford to wait for them or help develop them, Coming out of a rebuild is even more reason to develop them especially coming off injured and so so seasons in the 1st taste of AA in a terrible place to hit .
  12. Cherry picking ? Isn't it the last time the Sox traded for a rental ? I'm suggesting that you and the rest of the scouts here have no idea who will be a good player in the future and who won't be. I'd sacrifice most of them flaming out for one of them becoming more than what anyone here thinks they will be. It's so easy to crap on prospects and be right because most of them do not become what we expect or hope. Do you honestly trust the Sox evaluation of their own minor league players over a a team like the Dodgers ? They aren't going to give up Pederson without someone they really think has a future.
  13. Doesn't all of Future Sox dislike you because you lift your leg and piss all over most Sox prospects ? And you have been told to not bring your shit into that Forum ?
  14. So some think they are non prospects already and some believe they still have value after so so years after injuries and playing in Death Valley at AA but you can fool all of baseball into thinking they still have upside. Got it. So basically saying if you believe they actually do have value you are a fool but the rest of MLB are fools too.
  15. I'm just amazed that the Sox go through a rebuild and people are so desperate to win that all the scouts on this board are willing to dump years of control for 1 year of a decent player. Didn't we hear the same shit about Semien, Bassitt , Phegley, Ravelo who are all still getting MLB appearances with an MVP candidate in the group ,while Samardzija is long gone and Michael Ynoa hasn't pitched in MLB for 2 years.
  16. So they can only get worse ?
  17. Unless one of them is in the trade for him like Fulmer and Basabe for Joc.
  18. Twins are already talking to Boras about Ryu.
  19. Don't think Familia is the money they want to rid themselves. Cespedes and Cano both top that list . To take on that Cano contract they'd have to eat money and give up player(s) since its still got 4 years to go. Cespedes is 1 year $29.5M but with a full NTC. I don't know if the Mets are trying to take action to change his contract from guaranteed to non-guaranteed which is a better way to explain it then simply voiding it. Apparently Cespedes could play in 2020 since he has been taking BP . Cano is owed $92M , AAV $24M with a cap hit of $20.25M since the Mariners give them $3.75M every year for the final 4 years. He also has a full no trade clause. Both would have to agree to waive the NTC.
  20. Similar in a lot of ways , not every way. They are not identical twins. Basically a lefty FA signing to jump start the rebuild's finishing touches. I can't remember everything I found similar. Mostly it was age, innings pitched, post season innings pitched ,similar things for their careers. More than a one season comp that you are doing. I' m on the Wheeler bandwagon along with everyone else and my post already said people made valid points about his downside in the very 1at paragraph.
  21. I made some comparisons with Bum to the Sox as like Lester was to the Cubs weeks ago. Very similar in a lot of ways. People around here talk about Madbum as if he is a bum but do have some valid points about pitching in a bigger park helping his stats and his HR rate. I backed off him because of a belief he'll end up in the NL but a guy like him with his post season excellence would be invaluable to our young pitchers. That's not really talked about at all because you sign players based on how you project them as numbers going forward. However I have seen posters here talk about his attitude towards celebration/bat flips not fitting in to our fun loving group of youngsters. He's perceived as somewhat of a curmudgeon. I think the Sox could use a guy like him . there is no post season experience on the Sox . Who better to prepare them for the post season than him ? If the Sox can be winners, Madbum would have fun winning too, just maybe more on the inside.
  22. You know if we don't get Wheeler that's how some here will categorize it. If the Sox don't get Wheeler it's because someone like the Rangers over payed by more than the Sox wanted to over pay .
  23. I think it makes Collins the primary DH against righties since McCann doesn't hit them as well as lefties at least eary in the season. I think before Robert and Madrigal arrive we see Collins at DH a lot as the Sox try to generate some offense early in the season when they aren't at full strength to see if Collins can get it going with his OBP and power. If he can once Robert and Madrigal arrive and a productive Collins they look very strong in the lineup. The only obstacle is Renteria if the last few weeks of the season regarding Collins playing time is any indication of future use. I think the FO realizes how significant a productive Collins can be and should be telling Renteria to play him early and often. If the Sox sign a DH that changes. I'm guessing they roll with Collins.
  24. Ryu will sign for longer than a year. He's seeking 3 or 4 years and Boras is his agent claiming that his arm age is 26 or 27.Twins are already talking to Boras abut him. He came in second in NL Cy Young voting. He had a great ERA, FIP and WHIP and was in the top 1 percent of the league with a BB% of 3.3 .
  25. In theory that makes sense but in practice probably not. He's already got the most teams interested in him than any other free agent. I think he takes longer to decide than this week because teams might still not be giving their best offers but the Winter meetings seem like a good time to make a decision.
