Maybe, yet despite peripherals he's had plenty of good seasons and when your WHIP is close to 1 the peripherals probably mean less.

Projected white sox arbitration salaries 2020
Yes any ONE we want but we don't need any ONE we need 5 guys easy and for 5 good players that will raise up the payroll in a hurry. There needs to be money saved somewhere and maybe not just Yolmer . But that will all unfold as the off season progresses depending on who the Sox actually do sign .

Respectfully disagree. Surely some teams need a guy who has been pretty reliable for the last 2 years and 4 of the last 5. That's damn good for a relief pitcher. It's not like !10M is all that much. Usually winning in the playoffs come down to who has the stronger pen. We are probably going to hear about teams that did not strengthen their pens when they lose in the playoffs this year. Remember plenty of guys were available , maybe even Colome, but only the Braves and Nationals really upgraded their pens significantly. This is why I am rooting for them. At the time of the deadline I remember saying the Dodgers showed no sense of urgency about upgrading their pen and was hoping it would cost them dearly. I'm not saying Colome alone would get it done but I'm pretty sick of hearing how guys like him have no value. If teams aren't willng to pay the price that it takes to improve their odds of winning it all then I hope those teams lose.

Kyle Schwarber?
I care that he is a Cub. We fleeced them for Q .I don't particularly want to give them a chance to even the score since we compete in the same market. It's best they continue trending down while the Sox trend up.

Kyle Schwarber?
Lightning won't strike twice in the same spot. Cubs are looking to stay afloat. We got cheap controlled talent for a decent starting pitcher. I prefer the Sox keep their young talent now not trade it away. If you can get Schwarber for Yolmer , Palka, Cordell and any number of names who are likely to be cut loose fine. Otherwise I'd like to keep just about anybody who is going to be mentioned in any trade scenario, I'm strictly anti getting a DH at this point and that includes JDM . If you are going to rebuild you don't spend a lot of time or money strictly for all hit no field types. Fill positions with baseball player who can play the field and multiple positions if they can be found. Make the team versatile enough to get everyone rest with a guy like Moustakas who can give guys rests at 2nd, 3rd and 1st base along with Grandal . That way we get 2 LH power bats who play positions of need and strengthen the bench also. Spread the money out and save the big bucks for the pitchers, Not only that if we are keeping Abreu then he will be playing more and more DH . If the Sox sign JDM or make a trade for a DH I will be shocked. Now if anyone can convince me Abreu is leaving I'll change my tune. Between Abreu and Eloy Sox might have DH covered for quite a few years.

ALDS- Rays/Astros
Ir might be the only way for the Sox to finally understand that a lot more needs to be done to the infrastructure to stay in the playoff picture on a yearly basis if a low payroll team like TB can do it . That's bound to appeal to the Sox doing it on a meager budget. Trouble is they'd have to fire themselves.

Ok I'll just guess it's higher if they can mange to enough good players that will sign with them. Maybe max out between $120 -130M.

Colome for Mazara ? Nimmo ?

So why are we presuming it's $110M ?

Kyle Schwarber?
Yuck puke. This is Soxtalk isn't it? Fuck the Cubs. Let them die as the Sox rise. We don't need to help them in any way and we don't need their help either.

ALDS- Rays/Astros
Did I say Go YanKees ? I want Rays to beat Stros and Yankees and Avi to lead the way. Then they can beat the Dodgers with Avi named WS MVP . Then we can celebrate Tatis, Semien and Avi all in the same year

ALDS- Twins/Yankees
He's re-upping with the Twins.

NLDS- Nationals/Dodgers
Should be a great game .

Badler 2020 J2 Preview
Ok so if I am reading this correctly the burn was because it was business as usual for the Sox when you hoped it might be different once they got out of the penalty.
-
NLDS- Cardinals/Braves
Ozuna doing nicely for himself .

Badler 2020 J2 Preview
Was the slow burn due to just not spending all their money or Yolbert getting too much ? Too old ? They did have at least $1M left over that they traded to TX . Or was it something else ?

Which players are you paying extra attention to next year?
Benyamin Bailey

Part of my harping was always bringing up the Twins. I've tried to do some research on players from the international Free Agency who have made an impact on MLB in the last 10 years or so and It's difficult to find. Yolmer seems to be the only guy in the last 10 years who made it all the way to the majors for the Sox if you don't count Tatis who we all know was traded away. I did find that the Sox made an offer to Ji-Man Choi in 2017 . They were among 13 clubs who made an offer . And we all probably know same thing with Ohtani but as usual we come up short too may times in any kind of Free Agency. Bailey does give me some hope. I really hope he can do well.

I've been harping on these things in PHT and scoffing at the idea of sustained success for all the things I've multi-quoted. The HS and college player draft just does not add enough talent. There is no reason to keep living in the dark ages with this when guys like Acuna, Soto , Tatis, Jr. and others on contending teams provide cheap young talent, Sure the talent might take 5+ years to develop which is even more of a reason to start using those resources the right way now.not just on LatAm talent but Japanese, Korean ,Taiwanese or even European also. It's an international game and it's well past time the Sox took it seriously .

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Yea we would have to pull that thread to see what we all thought. I do remember that the talk of extending Samardzija was rampant here . I don't remember if the board generally liked the trade or not. I don't even remember my own opinion on it except I thought the extension talk was ridiculous .

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
I cannot say that. I would have to follow every team in a lot of sports so I can't use that broad stroke on my canvas . I just know it's rather pointless to criticize fans in any way.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Sorry but raging fans means squat to the Sox. Hahn and Cooper in season both made disparaging remarks about Sox fans negativity when they should be saying positive things about the fans even if they have to lie through their teeth to say it. Hahn need to put a gag order on saying bad things about the fans. Praise the fans , kiss their ass, be sensible about it instead of chastising them. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Not even sure what this means. It's not like the fans make any of the decisions.

A Realistic Offseason
No real reason to be depressed Jack. It's just baseball. I'm as big a Sox fan as there is out there and they mean a lot to me but in the grand scheme of things the best I can do is say sports is a long time hobby. that I really don't spend any money on being a California Sox fan. I hope for the best like many others and have had many complaints about how the have run the franchise and the rebuild, But in the end all I have is my hopes . I didn't need one more quote from 18 years ago to establish what I already knew. Hoping for the best but it's not like I haven't been disappointed with the Sox before in the last 45+ years of my life. It comes with the territory. As an aside. I wanted to mention this at some point but never quite found the forum to do it. My older brother organized an impromptu family reunion and got the Sox to agree to let my 85 yr old father throw out the 1st pitch on the DH games scheduled for Sept. 27 as part of a 4 generation of Sox fans reunion at the ballpark. Amazingly I was able to go as were all 4 of my brothers one of whom lives in Maryland and another in Michigan. I saw many relatives I hadn't seen in a long time including 2 of my father's brothers, my older brothers kids, all my brothers and an adopted niece I had never met since she was adopted 16 years ago Also amazingly I got my daughter who lives in the Bay area to go and also my son from Arizona though all his flights were cancelled or delayed and by the time he finally got there I was gone. The Sox also comped the tickets for around 20 of us. It was a wonderful time even though the games were rained out and my father was very happy to see us all and get on the field and Danny Mendick caught the pitch and gave Dad an autograph on the ball. I bring this up because these are the things that matter most . The fandom can create moments like this or the random World Series win or memories of going to games with the old man when younger and even fiascos like the Disco Demolition game I attended with him and a brother. To put it all in perspective the results are secondary to my fandom .
