  1. Just for the sake of accuracy since it was right in the Soxfest thread. Nothing about any progress made in the last 48 hours nor about it being in addition to Machado. If there was something else about progress share a link. I totally disregard heresay at this point.
  2. Compared to other teams we don't have leverage. The Dodgers can keep him or still may need him. If we aren't making the playoffs in 2019 then JP is basically a 1 year rental for 2020. Those are the reason's why I doubt we acquire him. Dodgers may still keep him, other teams would pay more and using decent young talent to acquire a rental isn't in the best interest of future long term viability. Plus , we have to consider the possibility all rumors about the Sox interest in him are either false or the level of interest is not as high as we think.
  3. I don't think being #11 in such a top heavy system is so bad actually. Granted I don't study prospects like our wonderful Future Sox guys do but I like the kid. I think his hit tool is advanced. He's still pretty young and was 1.5 years younger than his competition. He hasn't shown the power yet but that doesn't concern me because the potential for more is there given his age and build. The other knock is he might not be a CF and if the power doesn't come and he ends up a corner that hurts him. Some think he might be exposed moving to a pitchers park but in my eyes we may see just how good that hit tool plays in a bigger ball park and it still wouldn't concern me about his power there because he will still be very young. Someone like Christian Yelich basically has the same build as Rutherford and he didn't start hitting for more power until he was in the big leagues for a few years when he physically matured and knew the league better. He also is a corner OF and he made it on his hit tool which was a bit more advanced than Rutherford's. The more cynical may comp him to Ryan Sweeney. The fault in my analysis is although I am able to project players moving forward I also am more results oriented which I suppose isn't the best way to critique prospects especially if they have nagging injuries and play through them . I also don't care about results in the lowest levels. Therefore guys like Basabe , Collins and Hansen get downgraded in my eyes because of their issues especially Collins who as far as I can tell only walks and hits HR's. Basabe has phenomenal skills both offensively and defensively and is also very young . I'm just afraid because he's on the 40 already he might not be ready yet to be pushed considering his rising K totals and the time it takes him to adjust to each level he advances.
  4. Maybe. No one can say with 100% accuracy. But if kept and they improve they can be used in other moves when we expect to compete. That's the importance of depth in the system.
  5. I have it on Procol Harum's Greatest Hts CD :). Also the 1972 Live version of Conquistador with Edmonton Symphony Orch. is one of my all time favorite song and grabbed my attention many many moons ago.
  6. Seems like Jokiharu's ice time is a lot less than it was since he got back. Was a healthy scratch at least once also. Is that just because Murphy is back ?
  7. The Blackhawks acquired the rights to forward Dominik Kubalik from the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NHL draft previously acquired from Arizona. The trade was first reported by Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston. Kubalík currently leads Switzerland’s National League in scoring with 43 points, is second in assists (25) and tied for fourth in goals (18). The 23-year-old forward, who stands 6-foot-2 and weights 176 pounds, was a seventh-round pick (191st overall) of the Kings in the 2013 NHL draft. Since being drafted, however, Kubalik has remained in Europe, playing in his native Czech Republic through the 2016-17 season before joining HC Ambri-Piotta in Switzerland this season. He amassed 27 points in 25 games that season before continuing at a point-per-game pace during 2018-19. As recently as October 2017, Kubalik received an NHL contract offer from the Kings, but never signed. He remains unsigned and, according to the Blackhawks, will finish the season with HC Ambri Piotta. https://www.secondcityhockey.com/2019/1/24/18196604/chicago-blackhawks-los-angeles-kings-trade-dominik-kubalik-2019-nhl-draft-breaking-news
  8. Whaling takes me away to where I've always heard it could be Just a dream and the wind to carry me And soon I will be free I think I used to see this song a lot in game threads when Sale was sailing. So I changed it to fit the current theme.
  9. Rabbit said something about Palehose1 being legit but spelled it paleose1 so that threw everyone off about who he meant and also failed to say it was a comment on MLBTR where that person said the Pederson deal was done. Palehose1 guy said Fulmer, Bummer and low level prospect then another twitter guy said it was Bummer, Fulmer and Laz Rivera but also said Machado and Pederson deals will both be announced at Soxfest.
  10. Yep since he also said Machado is part of a Soxfest announcement also. That's the main thing.
  11. If true seems to be replacing the guys they gave up in the Russell Martin trade.
  12. try making it palehose instead of paleose. It was some talking about getting a an eagle golfing at ruffled feathers like 10 posts above this one,
  13. If he really wanted you to know instead of clicking on his Twitter he'd have made it clear
  14. Welcome to the latest installment of getting rid of promising prospects and screwing with the depth of the system for 2 year future 1st basemen playing CF. Rutherford is year younger than Walker, his name is being bandied about too.A guy with a sweet lefty swing hits the ball to all fields . Had a really nice year while being 1.5 years younger than the guys he's playing against and is our #11 prospect when he's got guys like Eloy,Kopech Cease,Madrigal and Robert ahead of him.
  15. Bullshit. 1st of all we don't have Machado yet or Pederson and all of sudden adding Keuchel to a terrible group of starting pitchers is going to make a team that had 62 wins last year a contender. Ater we get that starting pitcher and Machado and Pederson talk to me in October but chances are getting all 3 is a long shot which makes being a contender in 2019 an even bigger long shot .
  16. This is a lot of mathematical jibberish that's basically telling everyone that minor league depth is a bad thing. How can you throw a lot of numbers around about fair value when you don't even understand why the deep system will help not hurt the rebuild,
  17. Jeez I'd like to win the World Series again and if it takes 5 or 6 years from the start of the rebuild so be it .You can cry about how it took so long watching the parade.
  18. No matter how you slice 2019 there is no chance . You better somehow get 2 starting pitchers who are head and shoulders above anything we have now for that.
  19. At least this thread probably won't be locked. Caulfield always stirring the pot bringing sports related drama into Soxtalk.
