  1. Oh I'm definitely on board with trading any prospect when they have been given time to show more but most if not all the young OFer's are too far off to have established a higher value. Another one or 2 years and we will know. Those should be non contending years so there's really no hurry.
  2. Oh I agree . 100% I wasn't knocking Basabe , We need to wait like I said on all our high upside prospects. Just was stating his hit tool has been lacking. All the other stuff you said about him is true. You did ask why some want to disregard him so I answered the probable reason.
  3. If we are going to get picky I did say "haven't had much luck" which allows room for some success. Pederson is a much more established player than Eaton and Quentin were. 1000+ more PA's than either Eaton or Quentin had and 2 years older then when we got them. Target the D'backs we do good getting players from them like Eaton and Q.
  4. Probably because of his hit tool. But like most of our other high end prospects and those with high upside we need to not trade them.
  5. I know but still it's buying high and switching leagues. Haven't had much luck with NL players coming here and it's only for 2 non contending years. I know you think differently on that as do others but when it takes like 6 different if's to contend I tend to think it won't happen. Get Manny and give me next year to decide on the direction. Pederson just doesn't move the arrow enough for the 2 years of control.
  6. Let's not forget he's a 3 WAR OF from 2018. 2017 was quite different. I'd consider him a a 3 WAR OF'er if he had done it consistently but he hasn't. How often do we hear warnings about buying high ? Get him for next to nothing fine, otherwise let the contenders like the Braves who might truly need him overpay for him.
  7. All this illustrates is how bad the Sox were in 2018 and even with Manny and Joc 2019 and 2020 aren't years where we need Joc. Pitching wasn't any better and the pitching is where we aren't ready the most. Maybe .500 or better in 2020 if I wear my special Sox colored glasses.
  8. No list can be impartial because it takes a human to program it. If they use stats from last 4 years it becomes a lot different than the last 1 or last 2. Rightfully they should have no stats on Eloy to compare against MLB stats since they are apples and oranges. But I do agree that seeing Eloy on the list is sweet.
  9. That's really odd because that list was always called Top 10 Right Now and Eloy doesn't even qualify yet since he has never played in the majors yet. And alson yes LF not RF but I'm sure they are all used to see him play RF in the famous video of this leaping catch over the RF foul fence in the Futures game 2 years ago. https://www.mlb.com/video/jimenezs-eye-popping-catch/c-920655683
  10. And we have time to wait to see what he becomes. Who knows maybe in 3 years he can headline a trade for a top player or replace Manny at 3rd if we get him but then opts out. Many here want Pederson but would be quite upset if Bush was part of the trade. I don't see a problem reading between the lines of what you wrote.
  11. Point is Bush shouldn't be traded, at least not this year. He was an excellent draft pick . Give him a few more years in the minors see what we have. He has elite bat speed and if everyone thought he was available he probably goes in the top 5 rounds instead of the 33rd where the Sox got him.
  12. Don't you mean against righties since he is a LH hitter ? Yes he hit's righties well and would get the majority of the playing time. He could hit them even better or he could regress to 2017 form especially switching leagues. Dodgers are rightfully selling high on him and no longer need him and we shouldn't view him as more than that.
  13. That's a lot of IF's . If we get Manny. If we get Joc ,if we get a decent starting pitcher (from where I have no idea), If we have a FEW (not just one) breakout. I love the optimism I really truly do but Manny is the big enchilada and he must be attained before any of that is considered .
  14. It actually was an outstanding draft pick. Everyone expected him to honor his commitment to Mississippi St. and the Sox paid him overslot and got him in the 33rd. round. Perfect Game ranked him 52nd in his senior year of all the preps in the country. You just don't give that up ever for a guy the Dodgers have to get rid of.
  15. So be it then. Let the Braves acquire him. There's no great need for him on the Sox in those 2 years. Braves are a contender those years. We are not.
  16. The guy can play against RH pitching and won't be a CF long. He is declining in value whether or not you agree.
  17. He's worth more to the Braves than us. Once Manny signs then maybe see what we could do . Not before then.
  18. That's why I've been saying he is a corner OF soon. He's 6'1 " 220 lbs. Big kid and is not going to be a CF for much longer.
