The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
And there will be one but not from me . I'll be at work and I don't consider myself as an expert on draft picks enough to rant but I definitely want any of Madrigal, Bart, Bohm, Mize, India over Singer. -
Davidson back, Skole/Gonzalez to AAA

Are Alex Presley and Michael Saunders going to get any chances w/ the Sox ? I know they are veterans and in their early 30's and I have no idea how they field . I'm guessing they are mediocre at both at this stage of their careers but can combine a little hitting with a little defense. -
The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)

Madrigal please if available . Pure hitter, pure baseball player ,level headed, understands the game. Just not feeling much upside in Singer . Not enough space between the floor and ceiling. Need some real baseball players and not DH/1b types. I know you take BPA but need still is a factor. -

This is exactly my position and I'd throw India in there just for fun because he's good and has a superstar name.

FS: We've Suffered Enough - Call Up Eloy
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This. I am shocked that the next april vote is leading the poll. I know with all the injuries and bad pitching performances that the rebuild timeline may have lost some steam but to punish Eloy for it just so we can retain him longer seems out of line to say the least. You reward the guys who have earned it you don't punish them. -
And you wonder why people think you are a troll or just the fan version of Forrest Gump. I don't really know what to make of you. Attention seeker ? Brain damage? Senility ? You certainly know how to get people to respond to your posts so maybe you're a genius but with you here actual real baseball discussions suffers\ because people spend so much time responding to you and your oddity.

I'm surprised your actually confident of much of anything having to do with the Sox right now. I mean sure growing pains and I have been the one guy saying injuries prospect flame outs etc while others just think every pitcher will come internally. I'm certainly not against the rebuild but everyone here needs to start getting real. This year the rebuild has suffered a lot of set backs and cracks in the dam have led to a flood. We can all say it's darkest before the dawn and with Kopech and Eloy on the horizon things will surely get better but the Sox need to keep their options open . Stop thinking it's all just bad luck because it's not . It's just what happens in sports and creating versatility gives teams more options especially with the increasing reliance on the bullpen. Cubs have Zobrist and Bryant playing all over . Stros have Marwin Gonzalez . Championship caliber teams have those kinds of guys and if that ends up being Tim Anderson for one reason or another so be it. Right now JImenez is the only one among the OF you mentioned in the minors I'm pretty syre will have a very nice career. The rest either become trade bait or never become the quality of players you need on a champ. There isn't any guarantee that Jimenez stays in the OF either.

Time to see if the Astros will take a reliever or two
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You really think that is going to hold up if its even true ? Please give a link . I know they've done much better but one of the best ? What does that even mean in your mind? top 10 of 32 teams for a whole month ? I'm fairly certain that not many of any teams are going to be beating down the Sox door and any that do won't offer much. -
I don't think it's odd at all and Anderson isn't phased by it and wants to be a SS but he also indicated he didn't think it would be all that difficult to play OF. He also knows that it's a possibility depending on future events and the Sox may end up having a hard decision to make. But as he said he wants to be a White Sox for life and wants to be in the lineup no matter what position he plays. I don't think the talk is based on having Madrigal playing SS at all since there isn't any guarantee the Sox will even draft him. Maybe Machado won't want to move but the Sox pursue him and actually get him. It's a long shot but then that's where the hard decision comes in that Tim knows could be coming. If he isn't that concerned with it neither am I .

I wouldn't count on Leury some of the big names need to be versatile sort of like Zobrist and even Kris Bryant. I know most players are entrenched in one position but like now Moncada could be moved around some Anderson too .But realistically those things have to start in the minors. Boston didnt seem afraid to move Moncada around . Didnt they have him playing 3rd when they had him ? I know most would be against that , let him concentrate on hitting and all that . But sometimes learning and playing multiple positions might keep your mind off hitting woes and do things more naturally. they way they have come to you all your life . The good new is Anderson isn't against playing in the outfield if it comes to that. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/could-outfield-be-in-tim-andersons-future/c-278979304

Eloy is beastly like Frank Thomas was beastly except for the crazy batting eye which might make Eloy less productive than Frank but the service time issue and better draft position are definitely playing a part in holding the kid down. The longer they keep him in AA then you can say he needs a good 2 months at AAA even if he destroys AAA like he has AA, longer if he doesn't. By then its September and maybe he's not real happy about it especially when he looks around and sees guys younger than him Gleybar Torres, Acuna, Sorotka, Albies and Soto all producing in the show .

Sox @ Indians, 5/29 Game Thread
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Heads22's topic in 2018 Season in Review
Abreu reached a peak BA of .319 3 or 4 days ago of now at .302 . Hot streak dead. -
Hahn's also talked about when a player forces the issue and that's what he's doing and he still isn't in AAA. I don't think there's any question at all he can jump right into MLB and produce . The question is how long are they going to make him wait to become a MLB player and thats just a matter of securing better draft position at the risk of upsetting him. And if he get's hurt in the meantime everyone will be upset Next April is a year away and he's already forcing the issue . Eloy is going to make a liar out of Hahn .

So he starts off Lindor with a curve . I'll give him some credit. He's a battler , has an idea how to pitch , he just doesn't have the command or stuff to use that knowledge yet. -

I think Cleveland pounds him in the 3rd. He's just laying the 1st pitch fastball right in there to get ahead in the count. Maybe look for some 1st pitch swings from the Indians .
