Sox won 2 of 3 at Boston who had the most home wins in baseball. White Sox hit 0 HR's in the series so the bullpen matched it by not allowing a run the whole series. Yolmer leading the league in triples and Abreu in doubles. Anderson great game showing off the wheels, range and batting eye. Palka showing why i call it Palkamania with the Hulk Hogan flex after his big hit after the Abreu IBB . 2 doubles one at 107 other one 116 MPH. His 2 ground outs were at 112.8 and 113.7 !

Amazing he can come right in after barely playing any ball in the last couple years and when he did he got injured 2 or 3 times and just start hitting. He has a lot of talent . I'd love to see him in W-S in early July to see how he does. No sense in thinking beyond that for now. Hitting and fielding aren't the only skills that need developing. Running and stealing does too.

It most likely will be the last season of being so quiet. There's a lot of big names out there the next 2 off seasons and Sox have a low payroll . The money is there to spend. Outside of repeating himself he can't really say much else. Sure don't want to be accused of tampering by mentioning a specific player. I really think you're just reading more into it than is there.

You're right, nothing to see there. Typical we'll analyze it when the time comes, Can't say now if there's any one particular player we are going after etc etc.

It would be so so very very cool to see Covey Rodon and Lopez all shut down the Red Sox. Especially with Rodon and Covey not on the staff most of the year. They might have to get some phantom injuries from more players to sustain the drive for a top 3 pick next year or have the pen implode again . They have been way too good lately.

Maybe want to provide some direct quotes or a link to the conversation ? If what you just said is true and the tape backs you up then that's headline news around here and worthy of its own thread. I know there could be multiple seasons in a row where the Sox hit the FA market but the 1st one is critical. Can't wait til any after that because it just limits the teams options.

I can't remember the last time the Yankees primarily used a RH hitting 1st baseman. With that short porch in RF they mostly want lefties playing 1st.

Yes I have brought that up many times in the past when discussing pitch framing also the pitchers reputation or even the hitters reputation. Look at Davidson. He has a rep as a K machine . Nothing before this year in his MLB career would suggest he has a good eye up there but he has made the adjustment but the umps haven't . With machines there are no reputations , no veteran or rookie treatment, just cold hard data.

I think its plenty realistic . The ball isn't invisible , the plate isn't invisible. The hitters do it and have to swing a bat to hit the ball. All an ump has to do is follow its path. Just put a microchip in the ball to follow its path if it's so hard for a person to do it. Or use cameras . The technology exists. I have no idea how sophisticated pitch FX on game day is or any of the tech stuff on telecasts but i'm sure if MLB consulted with the right people it could easily be done and a lot cheaper than paying umps salaries and for their travel. The hardest part probably would be calculating the low and high zones for each hitter . Maybe do measurement on the players like when you buy a tailored suit then factor in how those measurements change in your normal batting stance.

I blame umpires. Sure catchers are bad at framing but its not all on them. Umpires just suck. Their job is to call a strike when its a strike after all it crosses the plate before the catcher catches it. If umps have to rely on a catchers mitt to tell if its a strike then go to robots.

Beautiful win. Sox staff the last few weeks is much better.

Unlike the green traffic light meaning you have to go the green light in baseball means go at your own discretion if you so desire. And in case there is any confusion considering your baseball novice status when Nokona (above) says hit 3-0 he means when the hitter has 3 balls and no strikes on him which usually means the pitcher may groove a pitch right down the heart of the plate which is a pretty good pitch to hit really hard which you have to weigh against the possible walk (base on balls) you may get in that situation.

I know you said "like" Arenado but who else is like him ? Maybe the Sox just buy Arenado since he'll be a FA soon enough anyway.

Just have to keep in mind that there are a lot of posters here all with different opinions on talent and baseball in general. I think I know baseball pretty well but I find myself at odds many times over different things and how the game is played now. I try really hard not to be stuck in the past about how to value players but it does seem like the Rod Carew type of player is not appreciated much anymore and it'll take some time for everyone to come around on Madrigal if it happens at all since he has a long way to go . I'm a big believer in his hitting tool set and then you throw in his defense, his base running, his baseball IQ, work ethic and leadership and there's a good chance everyone will end up liking the kid a whole lot.

Half the board here probably in mourning over another win. Go look at the game thread the last few pages after the Sox took the lead hardly any posts . Nothing to whine about and nothing to cheer for,

I get the concern but whats next ? Don't dive for fly balls ? Don't try to run down long fly balls because you might run into the wall ? Gotta let guys with talent use it and whatever happens happens.
