  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) Why is Shoemaker still in there? Because the sinker can get a DP and Sciosia is old school.
  2. Ok Saladino don't get picked off and Frazier make him elevate the pitch,
  3. Sox need to start a bonfire and throw their bats in it.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 07:54 PM) Swinging at good pitches. Better than the rest of the team can say. Yep. Somehow people get the idea that 1st pitch swinging is bad, At times it certainly is. They showed a stat during the All-Star game what some of the All Stars hit on 1st pitches and most were like in the .300's,.400's ,and .500's and one was like .661.
  5. Woo hoo 29 straight scoreless innings. Oh Abreu I love the 2 doubles . But did you really think Shoemaker was going to throw you a strike there with 1st base open and you hitting him well the 1st 2 AB's. A smart hitter like Ortiz would've took that pitch 99/100 times.
  6. Anaheim is the new Oakland . Cy Santiago and Cy Shoemaker. 2 1/2 game stretch of scoreless baseball is so exciting. So now that Shields is pitching fairly decently the last 4 outings giving more hope going froward the offense drains that hope away.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) Hello everyone. The Morneau era is here From one lefty Frenchie DH (LaRoche) to another. Let's hope Morneau doesn't surrender as meekly as the other guy did.
  8. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) So improving the team won't improve that? You make a good argument and everything you say is true. Unfortunately with good hitting catchers at a premium I fear the Sox get easily out bid for him IF the Brewers decide to trade him now. Fulmer is probably the 1 guy Hahn won't trade just like Anderson ,not so much because he wouldn't trade him, but because there is no one in the farm system even close to being ready for the majors unless you count Ranaudo, who probably should've been called up to take Rodon's 1 start instead of Turner. I highly doubt the Sox get that 1 big bat they are looking for unless Reinsdorf signs off on a big contract like he did with Rios since he got burned by that one. The more money the Sox take on the less they have to give up. Lucroy doesn't fit that mold because he has a reasonable contract for the time remaining before free agency, so the Brewers will want the best package of prospects they can get.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:30 AM) With Morneau now, I wonder if they'll push Anderson down to 9, and go Melky at 2? Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, Morneau, Frazier, Lawrie, Garcia/Shuck, Catcher, Anderson No way I'd bat him last since he's probably one of our best hitters already. The speed at the bottom of the lineup does nothing for me since the Sox are a poor offensive team. Get the best hitters the most AB's and the worst hitters the least. Our catchers should be hitting 9th.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) Still no Saladino. You'll see him even less now with Morneau on the team. If he couldn't get AB's with Avi as the primary DH he won't be getting any more now. I do think it's a good idea to get him in at 3rd base to DH Abreu against lefties with Frazier moving to 1st. Also to rest Lawrie and Anderson once a week. 2-3 times a week in the lineup would be good use of him.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) What did I miss? He literally had a sore ass.
  12. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Like others have said, he's getting paid $1.5M this year and has not done very well in Charlotte. He would most likely slip through waivers. But , but why not bring the guy up with the best chance to help the team like Ranaudo . Hard to believe the Sox would sacrifice a game just to save $ .5M .
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 9m9 minutes ago Sources: #WhiteSox, unsure of Austin Jackson's prognosis, are checking into possible trades for CFer. Jackson had knee surgery on June 10. Josh Nelson ‏@SSS_joshnelson 5m5 minutes ago Chicago, IL I wonder if Charlie Blackmon would be a possible CF target for the White Sox? Seemed pretty logical since even I suggested Peralta from the D'Backs but they've traded away Eaton and Inciarte and have like 4 OF on the DL with Peralta due back soon . If the Sox are looking for a stopgap CF until Jackson returns they could try Delino DeShields Jr. since he is back in the minors with Desmond now in CF. Of course a long time ago I suggested Jackie Bradley, Jr. when .he wasn't hitting and he became an All-Star. I don't believe in DeShields like I believed in Bradley but I'm pretty sure he is a good fielder and will be 24 in August . And just like Bradley his bat right now is the problem and he most likely will never hit above 10 HR's, if even that. If you just like Jr.'s in CF ( Bradley Jr. , Griffey Jr. ) He's can't miss. The good thing is if the Sox get any OF that means Avi probably gets sent down so hope for someone better than DeShields.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) Morneau not in Birminghams lineup tonight Most likely on his way to California without the pressure of a late night flight after the game. Probably will be in Anaheim this evening and get a lot of rest for the game.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) So if you have read this all, then you read the original post with the much longer explanation that included this, so there really isn't a need to write a post like that stuff wasn't addressed before. If you skipped that post, go back and read it. Still think it needs to be said every time. Just because you said it once for accuracy sake doesn't mean you can leave out the details every time after that. It's misleading. All of a sudden it becomes just Semien (he) instead of a they and a guy who sucked for 1 year with all kinds of hopes he could be extended just becomes a #2 . The argument around here used to be ( Semiens 1st year with Oakland)the Sox gave up nothing Semien blows, he can't field, Bassitt and Phegley are fodder. Now it's a different tune all by the shortsighted who somehow can't grasp the fact that when you give up 15 years of control for 1 year ,prospects have a chance to get better and organizational depth is pretty important .What a shocker .
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) I agree that there is close to zero chance that Hahn/Williams trade Frazier. But if they shore up other spots via that trade, they certainly could compete. He's no difference maker. Saladino should be getting more at bats the way this team is stacked up anyway. it would be nice to see what they have in him (although eagle-eye Hahn is likely convinced he's a utility infielder). While I realize that the prime motivation in drafting Burdi was this year's pen, it would be ridiculous to bring him up. If the Sox are going to utilize Saladino he needs to play some OF to go along with his infield skills. I know he hurt his arm ( elbow ?) making a throw from the OF in the minors but so what . If he wants to play more and get more AB's than Avi he should be all for it. He's fast enough and athletic enough to play OF decently and would be worth more.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) Because he got them a #2 starter. You've said this a few times but I think the sentence needs to be longer. Something like, "He (and others) got them a #2 starter ( for 1 year)who pitched more like a 4 (who many people on this board were absolutely convinced would be extended). So even if you were ok with giving up the prospects for a rental then he wasn't extended making it a double whammy of a bad trade. Somewhere in all that if you're cool with the prospects given up and cool with him not being extended then you qualify as a true blue , blind loyalty Sox fan.
  18. It's Ali vs. Frazier for the Heavyweight crown,
  19. Want Frazier to win but want Stanton to hit one 500' .
  20. Duvall looks good. Short quick , tree trunk arms .
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) What is this? Frazier is hitting .145?? On the road or what? Is this an act you do to get attention ? Maybe you are on some kind of meds. I'd like to be empathetic instead of rolling my eyes mostly at what you say, It's obvious from just a few posts above is how those guys listed hit with RISP ( runners in scoring position).
