  1. Can you give me a scenario where taking on a high priced vet would be beneficial to the Sox ? Do you think we'd also get a prospect? And if it's just taking on salary how does that help the Sox ?
  2. Ho Hum Eloy with 2 hits including a double. Hardly worth mentioning /
  3. I just like wins. There are so many younger or youngish guys on the Sox it behooves them and us for all to play well. Sure we can make a list of guys most important to the rebuild but if everyone does well it means a much better future . Realistic ? No . But, ideally ,the best possible outcome.
  4. The All Star game is when the best players from the National League and the same from the American League play each other for 1 game. This year it is being played in Washington, DC.. There are festivities such as the Futures Game which was Sunday, The HR Derby and Celebrity Softball game.. It's a 4 day break in the schedule of all teams. I'd use google for anything else. The All Star game has an amazing history.
  5. I thought a good thread would be who is going to lead the Sox in HR's poll. Palka(12), Anderson(13) , Abreu(13), Moncada(12), Davidson (14) or Avi Garcia( (9), ( not as many as the others but HR rate is better since he's been injured so much. I just have had no luck creating polls . Maybe it's easier now with the new board. So if anyone wants to do it feel free.
  6. Did you purposefully want to sound like Flounder from Animal House ?
  7. How about a GoFundME for a freakin' Sox cap ??!?
  8. If by winning organiztions you mean playing above.500 they aren't the only one. Kannapolis and Great Falls are playing well and Birmingham is approaching .500.
  9. For a 31 yr old ? It was just a prolonged slump Goldschmidt went through the same thing early in the year and he has rebounded nicely.
  10. It's possible Jose ABreu is coming out of his slump. Pump it up Pito !
  11. 3 HR night is really impressive. Wonder who the last Sox MiLB player was to do that ? Of his 13 hits 7 are HR and 1 triple for a really nice .735 SLG . Keeo it up big fella.
  12. Sure you can look at it that way and It's easy enough to understand but they are still minor league players and the trades were made to help the big league club so they either have to play in the big leagies or get traded for guys who play in the big leagues. Right now their value to me is in limbo until they help the White Sox win in one way or another. In your way the Sox haven't "won" the trade but they are "winning" the trade in the early innings. The final verdict to say we won it is still very much undecided as are all the trades with guys still playing in the minors.
  13. So you're saying that they had no inkling of what they had ? That's an indictment of them right there.
  14. Well I don't blame anyone for injuries especially scouts. Hell I can't even blame Hermie like I've seen a few here do.Injuries happen and if a guy turns out to be injured often I don't see that as something that is predictable at all unless there was a history of that before the acquisition and even then that can be bad luck and doesn't necessarily mean it will continue
  15. Yea I didnt bring that up because the OP was talking about Steverson . Lots of guys successfully use leg kicks and the bigger issue is where was the Sox data on Sally's numbers with and without a leg kick ? Is anyone awake in this organization ?
  16. Well you have to put that into context. When did the trade take place and what was Albies doing at the time. No one expected the kind of powere he has shown at the time of the trade. If JImenez ends up an oft injured 1st baseman we'll think differently later.
  17. Thank you trades that involve minor league players take years to declare a winner or loser. But that is the mind set around here. We are a little too high on our prospects while the vast majority of them arent close yet and could falter at higher levels.
  18. I agree with the OP. Remember Tyler Saladino and a tweet from Justin Morneau ? https://www.soxmachine.com/2018/05/27/what-is-tyler-saladino-now-and-is-jose-rondon-still-him/ Basically the Sox told him to stop using a leg kick and the Brewers showed him data that said he would generate more power with it. If the Sox are against leg kicks then yes it's time for a hitting coach . Saldino's numbers are much better with the Brwwers albeit in a limited sample size but he has been a valued utility player there on a contender when a really bad team like the Sox had no room for him .
  19. If thats the case then we are in agreement . I understood it fully and I stand by my support of the post.
  20. Just think how many rungs there are on the ladder between the scouts and the guys who make the trade. That's a lot of people in between who could have said something . He wasnt ranked because he hadn't even played yet. If you go thorough the process of spending 800K on a guy maybe should wait to see what you have before you trade him. We didn't get out scouted we got out everything'd up and down the ladder of decison making with Shields and Tatis with the ultimate responsibliy falling on the ones who pulled the trigger. Just another bad decison along with the Dunn's , LaRoche,Keppinger, Samardzija all trying to patch major holes with questionable acquisitions hoping for the 2005 magic acquisitions to repeat themselves. When you rely on a wing and a prayer ( or as some refer to it as half assed) to acquire talent, more often than not you are going to fail
  21. Hmm I think it is. Either they are driving the short bus or occupants in it ,either way he refers to the front office as those types who proved by the trade that they belong on the short bus. I just refered to them as the driver because they are the ones in charge of the rebuild. I mean it's a cruel term no doubt but I'm fairly certain I understand it's use there.
