  1. Wha ..? No winners thread ? Classic see saw battle. Sox go for 4th series win in a row with Q on the bump. Theme song for the win is the Moody Blues " Ride My See-Saw" ( one of their best rocking songs IMO )
  2. Central on fire. Indians lose for 1st time in over 2 weeks. Tigers now 5 above and Royals 6 above ,500 while Sox are working on taking 4 series in a row. Indians have played 10 more road than home games and with their very good home record they might end up leaving the rest of the division in the dust and become a serious contender for the championship.
  3. Some times it looks like Abreu just gives AB's away. Looks at 2 pitches right down the middle them weakly waves at a pitch at least a foot outside.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 05:29 PM) I bought some melatonin tea a few years ago to help me try and sleep. s*** works way, way, way too well. I had a very hard time waking up on it and would feel groggy all day. Now I just stick to the old standbys weed and booze to put me to bed. Or the Sox offense. The best way to fell asleep is owning a very comfy couch and working your ass off physically. I can't lay down on my couch without falling asleep.
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 03:14 PM) Huston is 9 and 1 in their last 10 and has been turning it around for about a month +. The Sox can't seem to get back to consistent winning ways but may have turned the corner, winning their last three series and going 7 - 3 in their last 10. We'll have an inconsistent Gonzalez going in front of our 1 / 2 punch of Sale / Q. With Huston 2 games ahead of us in the wild card and only a half a game out from the top spot - an unlikely sweep would be just about as big as any three game set we've had this far during 2016. Anything less than a series win is a big fail. We gotta right the ship for the rest of the year --- and it starts with this upcoming series. Who are you to say what the Sox need to do ? You can't even wake up on time to do your game thread duties. You'd be working on your 3rd one for tomorrow if you were not stoned on melatonin. Slacker !
  6. Andersons jump throw from 10 feet at least on the OF grass to nail Plouffe was a thing of grace and beauty.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Yes but the last 14 have been solo. The game against Toronto in which we hit 7 solo home runs started that, so "a few games back" is correct, but not recent enough, Thanks wasn't sure if we had hit 14 since then or not.
  8. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) By the way I think the Sox have now hit 14 consecutive solo home runs. Nice to get the win. Bad news about Davidson. The baseball gods are saying again it's not your season. Mark I'm pretty sure Frazier had a 2 run bomb a few games back.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) Fractured foot for Davidson Yikes ! How did Anderson avoid the Curse of the Call Ups ? I'm glad he did though. Knock on wood.
  10. The theme for this victory is Meat Loaf's " Two Out of Three Ain't Bad "
  11. Every hitter in the starting lineup had a hit . Team RISP Sox were 5-11. Anderson had his 1st non HR RBI coming through with a 2 out 2 run single . Saladino looked good playing flawless 3rd base and contributing a solo HR , RBI single and an SB.
  12. Another multi hit game. Anderson will be at .300 soon until pitchers figure out not to bother even throwing the kid a strike. Pretty soon will be seeing what Boshers of the Twins did to him in the 8 th inning. Threw all balls and Anderren swung at 3 of them and K'ed. None of the pitches were even particularly close to a strike.
  13. Davidson should be comfortable coming up now with Anderson here and doing well. Make it a healthy competition.
  14. No Sox won 9-6. Jason Bennetti suggested Supertramp's " Take the Long Way Home" as a theme for tonight's win after the Twins made a game of it with a 5 run 9 th so we'll go with that.
  15. Total embarrassment against a terrible team and terrible pitcher at home.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 07:15 PM) Every single big out has been on a change. You'd think we'd scout that I think you are over simplifying things. He has used the slider against Avi, Abreu and Anderson and uses the sinker effectively also to get outs . Problem is most of them aren't in the zone.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) I thought calling Anderson up was a bit early but I'm not complaining about the results so far. Tim has been a great spark at the top of the order and it looks like the Sox made the right call. Tim has been a breath of fresh air. I stayed out of the arguments re: if he was ready or not. I'm actually surprised I saw so many saying it was a mistake to call him up. Very few if any had a real grasp on his performance defensively or even offensively. I just figured well he can always be sent back down . If he's meant to be a good big leaguer he will be not everyone is some mental caase who gets hurt by early failure. They should be teaching these guys that failure is a natural part of success especially in baseball where failure 7/10 time still makes u a great hitter.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) I found this interesting just because of how much has been made of his different approach this season: Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka Chris Sale through 16 starts 2015: 2.80 ERA, 112.1 IP, 84 H, 22 BB, 147 K 2016: 2.79 ERA, 113.0 IP, 88 H, 23 BB, 109 K #WhiteSox A more useful stat might be the number of pitches used in the 2015 and 2016 innings to actually see if there is a bearing on keeping him healthier since that was the whole point of pitching to contact.
  19. This win sponsored by the Beatles "Blue Jay Way" . Even though it sounds like the title of a Blue Jay win,I had to use it because hardly any songs have Blue Jay in the title and it's the last game of the season against the Jays.
  20. Just got home from work and looked at the highlights. Crazy game. Sad seeing Abreu , Frazier and Melky go a combined 1 for 14 when the rest of the team went ballistic. Melky was on fire the previous 2 games so I'll excuse him. The off day didn't seem to help Abreu but he's probably still sore from HBP's.
  21. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) Loved the size of the crowd and the fact that they looked alive for once. I hated the broadcast bc they kept shoeing blue jays fans exercise other pitch. Mullets bring out the best crowd.
  22. Melky's been on fire and would be so nice if Avila's hitting picked up too like it has lately,
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) Very nice! I was going to go with "Too Close for Comfort" by McFly but I'm more familiar with AC/DC .
