  1. I wouldn't call it dire though . It's just reality with pitchers. Sox are stacking them up because of that reason. The are doing the same thing with position players hoping one turns into something very useful amongst the Gillaspie's, Palka's. Willie Garcia's, Tilson's and Cordells , Delmonico's , Davidson's etc.
  2. That's what I've been trying to tell you all along . Injuries and flame out are going to take their toll on a lot of those arms and like the Mets we may trade away a guy who ends up like Michael Fulmer.
  3. Unfortunately in order to sign him I seriously doubt you can MAKE him do anything.
  4. I wanted to delete that post because you had already answered it with JGB But yea I will take 2 WS appearances in a row .Thats sustained success in the White Sox world .
  5. We are on the exact same page with our views. The guys in the minors there's just way too much trust in them . There's just way too much that can go wrong plus they will be extremely young still and building up innings even if they turn out to be good. Some of those guys won't even sniff the majors let alone become stars which is what we will need . Starting All star quality pitchers and relievers and they just don't come along a lot and especially all at the same time like over a 3 or 4 year period. We are even in agreement on Moustakas, he was a bargain and so far he's performing admirably though it's a long long season. Also in the lineup there will be nothing wrong with having a couple 1-2 WAR guys if you also have some 3-8 WAR guys . That's plenty of offense as long as not too much of the WAR is given for defense.
  6. Plus he has to harness his emotions
  7. I would also be totally shocked. SSk2 also believes this and I've discussed it with him. Just seems so far fetched when you think of all the starters and relievers that WS winners have acquired. I'd have to challenge anyone to find every pitcher on a WS winner that was strictly from their minor league system and I'll even allow for minor leaguers who were traded for and were later brought up in the last 25 years.
  8. Bet the house its a cylinder you can't lose !
  9. Yea I'm off my game today lol thats what happens when i can't watch the game
  10. Well either Trayce or Engel had to bat because someone has to play CF.
  11. Is Palka here yet / Can he PH for Engel ?
  12. Ha 1st pitch another strike called on a ball
  13. Then the hitters need to creep a little closer to the plate and force him either further outside or bust them in , then turn and burn. Unless he's gone of course . Probably will start him next inning at least.
  14. wow davidson not helping himself then the ump finishes him off
  15. Position players just seem a lot easier to project than pitchers because of the whole arm problem thing. I'm starting to think by 2020 Moncada and Eloy wiil be special offensively. I'm projecting a little too far with Robert but also hoping he makes significant enough strides to be a rookie in 2020 . Add an Areando Machado Goldsmidt Harper, Bogaerts or even Rendon and that lineup could have 3 or 4 superstars in it, Not just good but great offensive players,
  16. Hey I hope you are right but I just don't see it happening like that. Even if many of those guys succeed they just will be too young and inexperienced. I have no idea how old those guys will be in the WOC ( window of contention) years but many of them will still be 25 years old or less at the start of it and we will pretty much want to be successful starting in 2020 so some won't even be up here by then. Rodon, Giolto, Lopez Kopech all with potential to be 1 's or 2's should be there in 2020 but I can practically guarantee one if not more than one will miss significant time due to injury between now and the start of 2020. Also a long way to go for any one of them to be considered as even remotely reliably successful. Just seems to be asking a lot of them by 2020.
  17. You also don't see the Sox needing relief pitching either but every team eventually does need both and all the guys you mentioned will still be babies and some will get injured some will flop some will just not fulfill expectations. Cubs needed Lester even after lucking into Arrieta and a young Kyle Hendriks joined Lester couple years before the Cubs won the World Series. Even if its 2020 or 2021 Giolito and Lopez wll have only been around a few years and Kopech Hansen or Cease etc even less if they make it at all. Weill see but I'm pretty confident that there will at least a #2 if not a number one starting pitcher needed while those other guys build innings and the careers necessary for a long playoff push. Don't want them flaming out like Sale seems to do at the end of the year.
  18. And possibly K at a high rate . I was just giving u a hard time. Sort of meant to put some kind of emoji to indicate that but I kind of forgot.?
  19. Except Pasqua was a lefty also like Palka and both last names start with the a PA and Pasqua actually played the OF whereas Davidson never will.
  20. That's why I've been saying that the Sox will go after starting pitching also. The young starters will still be in their baseball infancy and wildly inconsistent. Need an anchor ( Sale anyone ).
  21. I saw that comment on the "Big Elephant" on whitesox.com I wonder if he was messing with Areu because of Abreu giving him a little grief about not getting the cycle. Would be really funny if he just made that up to screw with Abreu.
