Chris Sale named AL pitcher of the month
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 20s21 seconds ago White Sox' Chris Sale named AL Pitcher of the Month As much as you and I like " Come Sail Away " by the great STYX ( who actually played in my HS gym ) you should listen to Sail by AWOLNATION . . I know it'll never replace Come Sail away in your heart but there are other options -
Red Sox looking for cost controlled pitchers

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) Swihart, Cecchini, Rodriguez Though just the first two would be equally dope. Everybody wants a catcher but seriously there's nothing there that says future all star to me. Think he'll end up being your typical ML catcher. Cecchini is a rough fielder and doesn't have much pop. Give me Betts and Holt . -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) Slava Malamud @SlavaMalamud 5m5 minutes ago Viktor Tikhonov, signed by the #Blackhawks for just over $1 mil, is coming off a $3.3 million deal in KHL. Kid really want to give it a go. Don't put too much stock in this. The KHL ( Russian league) and the ruble both had crashed. Reports were some players weren't being paid and the league is in serious jeopardy. -

Story from the Hockey News saying Tikhonov and Panarin would leave the KHL and possibly sign with the same team . http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/khl-exod...hl-next-season/ -

Could there actually be 3 Russians playing important roles with the Hawks next year ? Possibly all on the same line ?Tikhonov had very nice things to say about Panarin. ( http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Repor...-311240531.html ) Basically said the Hawks will love his style of play. I think it's smart of Bowman to get a few other Russians like Tikhonov and Asiminov to get Panarin comfortable. Tikhonov is the grandson of legendary Russian coach of the same name who I believe was coaching Russian in the 1980 Olympics when team USA pulled the Miracle on Ice. Seems like forever since the Hawks had any Russian players . I remember Alexi Zhamnov and Sergei Krivokrasov probably spent the most time with the Hawks There have been others but none that played any major roles since then. Should be very interestink ( ) to see how things shake out. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) I wouldn't be surprised if Vermette didn't really want to come back. I realize winning cures all, but still, he never really seemed happy, especially with Q dicking him around. Was pretty damn important in the playoffs. He proved very good at winning faceoffs. Q should love him for that alone. -
Pretty impressive when the Cardinals are considered one of the best teams in baseball and have a dominant home record . Titled it as I did because no winners thread yesterday.

6/30 White Sox at Cardinals

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Here comes the signature Sox extra-inning-road-low-scoring-game-loss Sox lead the majors in 1 run games in June. 4-8 record in those games. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) I will say this. Dano is a really intriguing young player. He is the key to the deal. He averaged around 13 minutes a game yet was second on the team with a +12 . Smallish excellent 2 way player who fits the Hawks mold and isn't afraid to mix it up in the corners. His production with the BJ's was better than it was in the AHL. Surround him with talent and he produces. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Yeah, I'd say that's another talented one. Remembered Seguin, forgot about him. The only real losses that were regrettable were Ladd and Leddy. It's gonna suck losing Sharp, but given his current age and productivity, it's not a huge loss, plus they've already gotten so much out of him. Byfuglien -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Ugh I hate that this has to be a thing. Can't they go on a stupid hot streak like the 2010 team? Me too sort of. I will always believe a team that can reverse their bad season and end up well meaning the players they already have improve is worth much more than some hit or miss prospects which the Sox have proved they can't handle (position players). Their players would be worth more in trades upon improvement than the draft position is worth. Of course they have proved worthless in acquiring new players too so its altogether disheartening on so many levels.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) Well, then isn't it on the GM to find the RIGHT players who are internally-motivated, knowing their manager isn't exactly noted in this regard? It seems the rest of the season, we'll be going round and round in circles between the players, manager, coaching staff, Hahn, KW and Reinsdorf (organizational culture/loyalty) assessing blame. Should get old fast, since we've already spent the first half of the season on that same discussion and argument. While I hate to say it because generally I'm an optimist but the whole organization is moribund and 2005 seems eons ago. We got our one in 75 years now it's back to being the laughingstocks the Sox have always been.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) They probably won't need luck. I still want Sale to win his starts, but other than that, keep losing. Then anyone they hope to trade loses value which is worse to me having multiple guys lose value than gaining a high draft pick.

Was there fan interference on that reaching over the wall and touching the ball ? It seemed to drop right at the base of the wall and for as hard as that was it you'd think it wouldve bounced off the wall .

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) Today around 2pm CST they ran a pretty lengthy talk on this subject. Unfortunately I was out to lunch with the damned channel playing... no sound thou. Anyone else catch this that can give a summary of what was said? They talked about whether to use TNT, dynamite, plastic explosives , hand grenades or the A-Bomb.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Just the other day I was thinking "you know, Jose isn't that bad, but he's only a really hot couple months from getting back to superstar territory". Let's hope that has started. 15 hits? Color me impressed. Way to improve your trade value, Shark. Jose on another hitting streak. 8 games now hitting .412 during it.

Welcome aboard rook. Now get my bags.

3 straight games with 10 or more hits. Abreu with 4 to get back to .300. Eaton with 3 . Melky with 2 more. Soto with 2. 6 doubles . Still took 15 hits to get just 6 runs but baby steps in the right direction. The Sox 1st win at MN. this year. Good pitching and defense. Melky/Ramirez threw out a runner at home and Soto caught Buxton stealing.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) At the time of the trade what was Brock Holt doing ? Just curious. I looked it up . He was repeating AAA and was 25 and had a fairly non-descript season. The Davidson trade was December of 2013 . In 2014 Holt was 26 and started playing very well at Pawtucket and after being called up was making headlines becoming a BoSOx mini legend fielding well anywhere they put him and making spectacular catches ( at least in the OF ). This year his age 27 season he's hitting .318 , OBP over .400 and just hit for the cycle last week. Hindsight ,I know, but wonder if the Red Sox had any interest in Reed. Holt went from a fringy prospect to solid ML contributor between his age 25 and 26 seasons.
