AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 10, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) We need a stir emoticon. It's the new Sox theme based on Eaton's commenting a few times that he is supposed to be the straw that stirs the drink ( based on the Reggie Jackson comment that he is the straw that stirs the drink when he was with the Yankees). They got t-shirts made to poke fun at Eaton but now it's officially the new fun thing. So now you have seen multiple guys doing it. Bonifacio a few times and Beckham after the hit to win the game. -
QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 10, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) STIRRING THE POT Close. I believe it's the new Sox theme brought on by Eaton saying he is supposed to be the straw that stirs the drink. They made t- shirts about it now using that stirring motion with their hands .

Looked like Danks was going out to pitch the 8th.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) Something that makes the offensive struggles even worse is that a majority of the runs the sox have scored lately were thanks in part to an error by the opposition or misplay (last night's big inning doesn't happen if Eaton's liner is caught) Almost no "clutch" hitting . Avi and Melky last night being the exception. We always seem to be stranding 2 guys. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Another first pitch out by Alexei. He has no game plan at the plate at all. That was the one place you couldn't hit the ball there. The one place ? To the SS or back to the pitcher would've been easy DP's too ? Regardless it wasn't the fly ball we needed . -

QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) That is a great point and I"ve never thought about that before. I've see it so many times it just made it impossible for me not to notice that. It makes a lot of OF's look awkward when really it's just the fact the fence isn't a flat surface so Sox OF's might not ever be considered great denfensive OF's who score DRS points by robbing HR's . The only way to rob a HR at the Cell is to stay about a foot away from the fence when you jump and go straight up but that's really hard to do because the OFer is usually drifting towards the fence and his momentum when he jumps takes him right into that situation I described . -

QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) How bad was Melky's drop of the home run? That ball was over the fence to start with and Melky did a helluva job getting his glove on it, Actually it went right in his glove but popped out on impact. There's a reason why you don't see too many spectacular HR robbing catches at the Cell even though the fence height is pretty ideal for those kind of catches and that's because of how the fence is. Since the picnic area is there ,the wall isn't flat but there's the chain link fence then the padding on the top which prevents fielders from getting much height on their jump. Usually their shoulder hits the padding and their body goes into the fencing which bends them and prevents them from getting that arm extension . -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) Yep, 7 feet, compared to average of 5 feet 10 inches. Is that recent info because I found an article that said the same thing and it was from 2011. Most pitcher should be around 80-100% of their height. Robertson is way beyond 100% and that does add "virtual" velocity to his pitch speed. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:56 PM) He's got to be able to make that play, although I agree it may not have been the best time to do it... He's got a pretty good and accurate arm unlike when ever Big Frank threw I'd cringe. -

Finally a good start and timely hitting by Conor produces a lead and the bullpen was lights out .

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) Release point I think it's more about how well he hides the ball. Keeps it in his glove then he has a very quick arm action so he doesn't give the hitters much time to see the ball once it leaves his glove. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:19 PM) What you "already know" is conjecture without any support. You've been watching carefully so you know that the game has changed, so I don't have to tell you that. No the support is experience. You haven't been telling me anything I don't know. Avi had a very high BA in the minors. What makes anyone so sure that after a few years experience in the majors he can't do the same thing no matter how unlikely it seems ? The guy probably has about 1 full year in the ML now. When he has established himself then you can use BABIP to tell me he will level off to career norms but right now he hasn't established any career norms so please gracefully allow my fandom to imagine he can hit very well in the coming years. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ May 5, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) It all evens out though. For instance, we should see plenty of improvement from Adam Eaton who could serve as a catalyst for the offense in front of Melky/Abreu/LaRoche. That'd better serve us than Avi hitting singles in front of the crappy bottom of the order. And again you're not telling most of us something we don't already know. I have been watching baseball for close to 50 yrs and not casually watching . Carefully watching. The guys sucking now will get better and guys doing well will drop but I take no enjoyment thinking I'm so smart to predict that. It's baseball 101 until a guy like Avi puts in a few more years so we can get a clearer picture of what to expect from him. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 5, 2015 -> 06:41 PM) The whole point of this is that the statistic tells you it's due to drop. You're essentially saying "I don't understand why this high thing is about to become lower so I'll say it's good when it's high and bad when it's low". Some people don't give a rat's arse about that. You're just basically raining on our parade of seeing the one Sox player with a high BA. Let us enjoy the one good high average guy while it last. Yes it's due to drop thank u very much . All we hear is this guy is sucking and the one guy not sucking you're saying wait he will suck. Some of you guys just can't just watch and enjoy the game because it's baseball and the Sox. That's enough for some of us without repeatedly hearing it's a mirage. -
