  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) Now it's just a matter of pitch counts for both guys. Frazier down to .217. Ouch. Still productive, at least. More than we can say for Avi, who's joining Dayan Viciedo in the "tease" category. Yea that .988 OPS with runners in scoring position which is best on the Sox btw is terrible.Least of the Sox problems.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) So of course he chased 95 mph at the shoulders. Looks like they already know his weakness.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) He was my free agent of choice. Good thing Hahn doesn't listen to me. You weren't alone but he was my 3rd choice from the big 3 of Cespedes , Gordon and Upton. Cespedes was my 1st.
  4. Let's go Q buckle down . Get a DP.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Along with Garcia and Shuck in the mix for playing time. Yuck. I've been seeing a lot of people posting negative stuff about Avi lately . Are you all just echo machines reposting what you see others posting ? Avi is, at least right now, one of the Sox lesser problems . If you look at who among the Sox is best with runners in scoring position you would discover Avi is the best on the Sox with a .988 OPS. Abreu has the most AB s on the team in that kind of situation and his OPS is a paltry .535 . The Sox are in no position offensively to get rid of their most productive hitter with runners in scoring position. If anything Avi should be getting more time in the middle of the order.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 07:07 AM) This is a great assessment here. To add to your point, Coats is 26. What are we waiting for? He's not the type of prospect where we have to worry about his development path. If they're going to get a bat, why not see what you have in Coats in first or Hayes for that matter. Hayes is going to be 26 in September and there will never be a time where he is on the roster and we are more in need for a LH bat. The loss here is the struggling and entirely redundant Sands. Move on. See what you have. Needs to happen. I agree. Their ages and their abilities fall right in line with the Sox needs. The trade deadline is fast approaching and wouldn't it be great if we could actually get help from the minors and forego the need to make trades that further deplete the minors ? The reluctance to bring up new position players and cling to the ones they have is truly baffling.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Robin concedes a lot of games. Why can't he just go away?? Get us a real manager somewhere? I guess the Mets series made it seem like we had a good team again. People it was one series win in the last seven. Law of averages. p.s. Eaton down to about .250? WTF. He was always over .300. Eaton .268
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) How much longer till he's healthy and then you have to get him in the minors trying to get the rust off. Can't really wait to see if he can do contribute of you need it now Highly doubtful much happens via trade for many teams until the trade deadline. Morneau is expected to be ready by then . Last year after missing most of the season he hit around .333 in September and October.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) And he ends up not fully living up to expectations like Jackson and Rollins so you keep adding till someone starts fully producing Maybe you have better ideas ? LOl so the guy is a failure already ? WHo coming here who is available doesn'y have a chance of failure ?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) But he can't hit. And lawrie is one of the few above average position players this team has If the team had more good bats Sanchez not hitting wouldn't be an issue. I think he can hit actually but no one here is patient enough to give him much of a shot. We expect instant success and it isn't realistic in many cases.
  11. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:25 PM) Again he's limited defensively and can't hit his weight. Not sure what he's useful on a team trying to contend How is he limited defensively. He can play SS and 2nd and 3rd . I just think he's a better option than Rollins .
  12. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:21 PM) Sox going after scrap players to see if they have any resembles of their former selves are the reason they are in the situation they are in Maybe you need to check his last few seasons even in limited time he's done well and he'd sure help the bench and leave more options open to get other players.
  13. QUOTE (joegraz @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) "cheapest best options" are exactly what has kept us right where we are. Would get a LH power bat and have money for more additions . That's why you go after him.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Only time sanchez should be on the major league roster is letting him try to see if he can be a everyday player and carry his weight in hitting. Sox can't afford to let that happen with them if they can contend I don't agree . He's a useful glove and switch hitter. If he's the best guy for the job let him contribute with what he does best.
  15. So who gets sent back to the minors 1st Kahnle or Purke ?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) We have discussed all season how poorly the bench has been put together, and the two guys being out tonight exposed that depth. I really hope the Sox go after Morneau when he is healthy. Probably would be the cheapest best option we can find.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) They just are lacking difference makers offensively. Even if you put Melky and Austin in the lineup, there is a huge lack of power. The Sox have 6 homers all year from the outfield and 2 from catchers Not to mention our terribleness against righthanders. Rollins and Sands should be the first ones off the 25. Try Coats keep Sanchez up and on the team.Or that lefty 1st baseman we have in the minors.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) Nice to see Shuck batting against a LHP in the 8th inning of a game. Sands has been used/not used in the strangest ways this year But Shuck has reverse splits but then Sand would have to play the OF
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) Hahn's gonna have to get a big bat if this team wants to stay in it. Even if they get a mid rotation starter, you're going to need to be able to score a decent amount of runs to win games in this division. That's what I said is still the biggest need even during the BP meltdowns. Those were just regression to the mean. They won;t be great but overall they are a decent pen.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) What's wrong with Jennings or Putnam? Those are your fifth and six relievers now...technically. Although calling Duke one of the top four is stretching it, I guess. Maybe just giving them more rest . Who knows Putnam in a closer game maybe to get a DP ball Jennings who knows .
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) Yeah, that homer might have subconsciously changed Tyler's approach to think he can be a power hitter for now, instead of a contact guy who occasionally gets a hold of one. Cabrera out of the game with a bad back. The saber crowd kind of eschew batting average but that's where in comes in handy . 2 pros like Cabrera and Martinez used the count to their advantage to get hits off of Kahnle . They probably get most of their hits in favorable counts. .250 hitters just can't take advantage of counts as good as a .300 hitter can.
  22. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) Especially when he just got called up from AAA and Purke was an option. Didn't Caulfield just say something about putting a guy into a position to succeed ? Problem is the Sox never have a big enough lead to do that. So when is a guy like Purke and Kahnle supposed to pitch ? If we burn the good relievers when behind we criticize Robin for that too.
  23. Against Detroit's bullpen the game should never be conceded. But when Saladino hit into the DP that pretty much sealed the Sox fate. I like Saladino better when he tries hitting to RF better instead of trying to pull.
  24. Well Robin probably doesn't want to use his best relievers when behind . Has Purke even pitched yet . Odd though just to concede a game like this. We have the pitching match up advantage for the next 2 games so maybe Robin wants to optimize the chances to win in those games.
