  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 3h3 hours ago White Sox relievers: 1.25 ERA, 28 Ks last 8 games (21.2 IP). Third straight scoreless outing for Zach Putnam Mon. AP It'll be even better when they can protect leads. But there's also a lot to be said for holding a team in check when behind thus giving the offense time to mount a comeback. Also should help extra innings record.
  2. Statcast makes it debut tonight on MLB network. What is statcast ? http://m.mlb.com/news/article/119234412/st...als-mlb-network . Basically it tracks everything happening on the field at all times. So supposedly defense can now be quantifiable. So if you are interested in seeing it in action DVR the Nats/Cards game tonight. Other articles on it http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2015...anals-cardinals http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/statcas...-network-042115 http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/dat...uesday-30458034
  3. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:28 AM) When clicking on this thread all I saw was "And that's a White Sox Com".....I fully expected it to be a thread bashing the Sox and titled "And that's a White Sox Complete Failure/s***show".....I of course didnt watch the 9th. Kudos White Sox. HAHA I don't do bashing threads so early in the season . Bashing posts however are another thing (i.e. Robin Ventura)
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) To be honest, I had no idea what was wrong with him wearing #16. Figured out the reason. I think if I had to name all the Sox retired people, I would have never thought of Ted Lyons. I don't blame Dan for forgetting. Really ? When was this ? Ken Berry wore 16 in the 1960's . I should know because he was my fav player as a kid and basically every uniform I owned had 16 on it after that.

The thread on advanced stats might be the proper place for it but I don't think people routinely go to that thread very often anymore.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) Finally! Sox and their fans get to celebrate one of these walk-offs! Don't discount the hit by TYLER f***ING FLOWERS! p.s. Glad that Melky drive fell and wasn't caught so he gets another hit. ANATOMY OF RALLY Pitching Change: Cody Allen replaces Bryan Shaw. 1.Adam LaRoche called out on strikes. 2.Avisail Garcia doubles (3) on a ground ball to right fielder David Murphy. 3.Conor Gillaspie walks. With Alexei Ramirez batting, wild pitch by Cody Allen, Avisail Garcia to 3rd. Conor Gillaspie to 2nd. 4.Alexei Ramirez doubles (3) on a sharp fly ball to left fielder Michael Brantley. Avisail Garcia scores. Conor Gillaspie scores. 5.Tyler Flowers singles on a ground ball to left fielder Michael Brantley. Alexei Ramirez to 3rd. Coaching visit to mound. 6.Gordon Beckham singles on a line drive to left fielder Michael Brantley. Alexei Ramirez scores. Tyler Flowers to 2nd. 7.Adam Eaton singles on a line drive to left fielder Michael Brantley. Tyler Flowers to 3rd. Gordon Beckham to 2nd. 8.Melky Cabrera singles on a fly ball to center fielder Mike Aviles. Tyler Flowers scores. Gordon Beckham to 3rd. Adam Eaton to 2nd. Actually Alexei's double was to straightaway CF . Mike Aviles an IF was playing CF and didn't look comfortable going after it.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) wow, wasn't expecting this. Have a feeling if Noesi has a bad start, Rodon will then be in the rotation. What I don't get is that there's absolutely no need for him in the bullpen right now, as lefty relief and Robertson is the only thing going well for the team. Axtually there is a need but its to keep his innings down in case the Sox make a playoff push.
  8. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Eaton, what the hell was that? Eaton being Eaton.
  9. Good job G. It was the new team at it's finest which we all hope we see a lot more . Sale Abreu The Rock Milk Man : TFlo for 2 more hits and having the highest batting average among the starters
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2015 -> 05:03 AM) Yeah, I am pretty sure a real manager has this team 9-0. While many say not challenging yesterday despite what the video guys tell you cost the Sox the game, the 1 run on 4 hits seems to have been ignored. I am sure that is his fault too. Everyone is well aware that if it reached extra innings it could have gone either way. Problem is they never got that opportunity and if Alexei is questioning the decision you can be sure he isn't the only one . There's no defending Robin here and you know it.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Something I found interesting is that some of the Chicago media members that always preach patience and small sample size were on the radio Wednesday blasting Ventura for the Eaton decision. It's easily the earliest in a season I've heard criticism towards him on the radio. It wells deserved. Pitcher walks and hits a batter . First mistake was squaring right away. Eaton should have made him throw a strike . Maybe he throws a wild pitch or balks or there's a past ball. Eaton has speed the odds of him hitting into a DP are small unless he hits a line drive and the runners are asleep. Once the first attempt went foul. it should've reminded Robin Eaton can't bunt squaring around . He's ok trying to bunt for a hit. But the whole coaching staff should know all that. Doesn't anyone speak up or is it support your manager decisions 100% and no open disagreements ? Then he squares around to bunt again after he got strike 2 but took a ball. SO Robin had another chance to call the bunt with 2 strikes off but he did it again and we all know the results.
  12. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) People will deflect the blame to Robin for even calling for it and that's fair, he deserves it. But even if it's a stupid job, Eaton has to be able to do it. I specifically stayed out of the thread announcing the Eaton extension because it was kind of shocking at least to me. There have been plenty of "one hit wonders" in baseball . Not saying that applies to Eaton but it seemed a little premature to extend him. Hoping he bounces back but he still makes stupid baserunning decisions and that was evident last year. His fielding and OBP made him a Sox darling but he has his flaws.
  13. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) Realistically, what are the odds Ventura is fired before, say, July? June? August? Does anyone think we'd actually let him go? What are the odds Samardzija will want to stay here if this year is an epic fail and Ventura continues to look clueless AND the front office does nothing about it ?
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) She's up boys: http://firerobinventura.com
  15. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) I Know it's not the popular opinion, but it looked like he slid around the tag. As far as Robin goes, they could fire him tomorrow and I wouldn't lose any sleep. That being said, to assume it cost them the game, you are also assuming that they could actually score some runs. Did you see the feed from the Tigers broadcast ? You will see the tag was clear , no ifs ands or buts about it. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/118...e-winning-rally Watch that and see the definitive view at about the 2 min. 15 second mark. Even before that if you're looking for it just watch Alexei's glove and Catellanos foot. The second he tagged him it snapped Castellanos foot and you seen dirt flying off the cleat from the foot being flexed then springing forward after the tagged was released.
  16. QUOTE (bulokis @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Guess what will Robin do tomorrow? He's going for the hat trick/trifecta of boneheaded moves in consecutive games.
  17. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) I'm pretty sure the vote tally against robin for not challenging is - Dick Allen's vote. If an NFL coach had made this error, yikes. And think about this which I haven't seen brought up yet. Didn't Samardzija say he wanted to get a feel for the organization before he thinks about resigning with the Sox ? He can't be getting a very positive view of the Sox at this time .
  18. I remember I supported the hiring of Ventura but I've been calling for his head for at least a year already.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) Hi-def and with the ability to slow down: http://gfycat.com/BlushingQuarterlyChrysomelid he's out He was clearly out on the replay. Alexei tagged his toe , foot even changed direction ,saw it on the Tigers feed on whitesox.com . Even the Tiger announcers said he was out and were mystified that it wasn't challenged. Loss is clearly on Robin .
  20. Nashville now playing like the team that wasn't very good the last 30 games of the season.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) Lol that is so pathetic. Yes, Eaton should have gotten it down his first two tries but he didn't and he looked horrible doing it so why would you ask him to do it again with 2 strikes? This is baseball 101 and it is quite sad that our manager doesn't understand that. It was puzzling that's for sure. Speed on the bases. Speed at bat. Got to let him hit after strike 2. And Abreu just crazy how bad he looked when it was pretty apparent they would be contend to walk him.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) 2 gifted goals Which team is loaded with playoff savvy veterans again ?
