Was really pulling for AVi to get the cycle . Fell a double short very nice to see him get somethings besides singles. He is just too big and strong to be a single hitter.

As one of Avi's biggest supporters I'm surprised I never posted in this thread but Ro Da Don basically said everything I would've said . It's hard for me to really understand how strongly negative the feelings are about him especially during a rebuild. Even his apologists are always somewhat apologetic about him because at time's he looks so bad. Other times he looks amazing like the first 4 games this year. One thing he always does is bust his ass down the first base line. I can't hate a guy who busts his hump like that. He deserves a little more respect for that alone, especially when guys loaf it pisses fans off just about more than anything . I could come up with reasons for his 2 errors so far but suffice it to say we've seen a lot of bad outfield defense so far due to weather conditions and not just on the Sox. Even I look at Avi with a jaundiced eye. I noticed that his 1st 3 or 4 hits were all ground balls .I was like what happened to him elevating balls ? Tools and strength do not always a player make but they help immensely when the on switch finally gets flipped.

Good game. There was some bad OF defense on both sides today but with the wind it was forgivable. Had no idea why Leury turned his back to the ball and faced the wall on the ball hit by Avila . Then the ball hits off the wall right next to him. I was like turn the f*** around and catch the ball.

I was hoping the Sox would hang onto him for his defense which is still very good and at 29 years old thought it was possible for him to have a bounce back year. He did once put up a 5 WAR season tough that seems ages ago. Any way last word he went 3/5 today during his Rays debut with a HR and 3 RBI.

I think it's pretty cool that he is related to Carlos May and also Lee May. Carlos played for the Sox in the Chuck Tanner years and wasn't a bad ballplayer and might've done better if part of his thumb wasn't blown off by a mortar . If May can succeed along with Anderson and Moncada we could have a new era Go Go White Sox ,thrilling fans with speed, pitching and defense. Ok yea I like to look at best case scenario.

The current top Red Sox prospect Rafael Devers cost $1.5M as a 16 yr old. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of other stories like that out there. Those under 300K guys are "you get what you pay for" and "scraping the bottom of the barrel" signees. I am all for going after Roberts but will be miffed if they don't get him and the Sox walk away with bupkis.
