  1. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) Farm, do you ultimately see Jordy Hulls becoming more of a role player in the next two years or do you feel he can continue to improve as he did last year and be strong enough to lead this team to compete at the top of the Big Ten? In other words will he be good enough to delay major playing time from Abell or Ferrell the following year? Maybe not at the beginning of the year, but by the start of the Big Ten play, this is honestly what I see shaping up to be the starting 5: 1. Abell 2. Hulls 3. Watford 4. Zeller 5. Pritchard Yes, I put Hulls at the 2, and didn't include V3 at all. Hulls is way better when he can move off the ball. Meanwhile, Abell will hopefully be the point that Crean has needed who can drive and create opportunities for others on the floor. He's a big body who can drive. Yes, Hulls is small as a 2, but he's already shown that he can score despite his size, though he does have to increase the amount of times he drives, just to open up more 3 point opportunities. On defense they can switch, and Hulls will take the opponent's 1, and Abell will take the 2. Watford likes to get outside a lot, and hopefully with Zeller in the mix we'll finally have the bodies for Watford to play the three. That said, Watford is so much better when he realizes he's bigger than his opponent and posts him up. Playing the 3, he'd have more opportunities for that. Zeller at the 4 will take a lot of pressure off of Pritch. I'm not expecting Zeller to the second coming, but I think he will be the capable and fundamentally sound big man we've been sorely lacking. I think the 4 guys off the bench will be V3, Sheehey, Oladipo and Elston. Oladipo is actually decent at the 4 despite his size because he's so athletic. Etherington won't get too much time, unless he shows early he can be damn good from outside.
  2. Just bought a Winmau Blade III dartboard and some tungsten tipped darts. I am so stoked.
  3. I didn't get to any of the games, and no, I'm not on peegs. I basically follow a couple of blogs (Inside the Hall and the Hoosier Scoop, which is the Bloomington Herald-Times blog). They give pretty exhaustive coverage, and sometimes I look stuff up in other places. I'm really excited about Abell for this coming year. He sounds like a big point who can drive, which is exactly what Crean's offense needs.
  4. Yeah, Indiana Elite made it out of that pool though. Hollowell is filling up the stat sheet.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) I agree 100%, our HR for the IT org here has been awful from what I can tell. They can't seem to figure out how to structure the organization, we have a big mix of senior and group managers even though both titles mean the same thing. And on my team we don't have like Service Engineer I, Service Engineer II, etc, we just have Senior Service Engineer for everyone, even though there is a clear difference in salary and responsibilities that each team member has. They even had to give our top engineer a different title all together to make him a lvl 3. Now my manager and our senior manager have to go through and clean up their mess. The sad thing is about the whole situation is that I would love to work here fulltime, it's where I want to be, and I told my manager that as long as the offer is industry competitive I would probably accept it. Are the people who do internship interviews for your company typically HR people, or regular workers? I only ask because I interviewed with your company a year or two ago, and the guy seemed decently competent (actually I take that back, he forgot his business cards). I think it was for some generic sounding "Supply Chain Analyst" position.
  6. I had a solid post ready to go, but then I said f*** it, it's time to watch some White Collar.
  7. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) This is a big reason I'm conservative. I grew up in a military family, I'm in the military...I heard my parents b**** about those government types all my life and now I'm witnessing it myself. The government is full of morons, and it does nothing to the same standard as the private sector. If you work for the government (and you're not prior military), you're the bottom of the barrel. Quality workers go private; the idiots go public. Just what I've witnessed. Or you start private, and then go public when you've made a decent amount and want to have better hours.
  8. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) Or like "racist", "Islamophobic" or "homophobic"? The left does it too, and like you, I don't care if I receive any of those meaningless labels anymore. These two points don't really jive with eachother. You're picking out the names applied to the right by liberals (and it seems that you disagree with their application), while endorsing the exact label lostfan was talking about.
  9. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Along with most people, I've always held that the GOP is the party of patriotism. It shows in the ideology of 95% of the military, it shows in our belief in American exceptionalism, and personally I think our belief in small government and free market enterprise is more in line with the beliefs of our Founding Fathers. But it's still interesting to see a study that backs it up empirically. Apparently we have different definitions of patriotism.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Anyone watching Suits? USA network. My friend is raving about it. Yeah, I'm loving it. The two main guys are fantastic.
  11. I'm the only person I know that doesn't like Chipotle.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) ILLUSIONS! Arrested Development quotes are something a whore does for money...or cocaine.
  13. QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) Wait, Derrick Rose is better at basketball than JR Smith? Really? Thank you for clearing that up, I'm sure that s*** is crystal clear for everyone now. I just find it funny how when player A shoots 4.0 3P a game and makes 1.6 of them, and then player B shoots 4.8 3P a game and makes 1.6 of them, player A is "incredibly ineffective of doing that at a high percentage" and player B is the best player in the world and immune from ever being criticized because you watched the Bulls when they're bad. If you're going to give credence to efficiency and statistics, then be consistent about it. That's all I'm asking for. And before you go on detailing about how Rose is a far better player than JR Smith: Yes, yes he is. It's not even close. Rose is 20x the player that JR Smith, and has 1/10th of the off-court baggage that Smith brings. This is completely irrelevant to the point I'm making, but completely true. But I think his point was that, as the focal point of his team's offense, he's going to be forced to take more shots? Whereas, Smith has the luxury of being able to get a better shot, since he isn't the one his team is counting on.
  14. I've lived in the northern suburbs for my entire life, and I've never been to 6 flags. Never really had the desire, either.
  15. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:45 PM) Purdue's recruiting was a damn joke from 2008-2011. From 2012-2013, Painter has started taking early commitments after Crean started picking up everyone. His upcoming classes should be pretty good. It's just not easy to recruit to West Lafayette. City is s***. I'm obviously biased since I lived in Bloomington for four years, but West Lafayette really does smell awful.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) http://timeoutchicago.com/music-nightlife/...rties-announced I'd love to see Cold War Kids, Arctic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club and Titus Andronicus.
  17. Guys guys...no hate. Just love. Speaking of M&Ms, the Crispy ones were by far the best.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:23 AM) I'm pretty sure that "a mental image of a person eating Jesus" is one of the Holy Sacraments. Fair point. But it's a little different when you imagine someone shoving an entire bearded dude into their mouth. He even ate the sandals.
  19. (500) Days of Summer was definitely awesome. The musical number the morning after he first has sex with Summer? Phenomenal. And yes Brian, I've had a very busy 1.5 decades.
  20. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) Christ on a cracker, I am starving now. There's something really weird about this sentence. I just got a mental image of a person eating Jesus.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) For someone so concerned with writing, you'd think Meredith Blake would have a better understanding of grammar. I was thinking the exact thing. Though I agreed with a lot of her points, there way too many plot points that didn't make any sense in a show that's apparently striving for realism.

I loved the last ten minutes of the Killing, but everything before that was meh. And yeah, I'm a little upset it wasn't resolved more (or at all, really).
  23. Finally got around to watching American History X last week. Great movie.
