  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 07:46 AM) I am helping to right a FINRA exam, does that count? Well, it's better than trying to wrong a FINRA exam.
  2. Contracts Civil Procedure Torts Lawyering Skills I I'm betting it's pretty hard to guess I'm a 1L (first year law student).

    2011 TV Thread

Entourage should have ended after Season 6. Even Season 7 had some good stuff...this season has been pretty bad, though.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) If the student is over 18 the schools can't and/or won't say anything to the parents. They'll be more than happy to accept my credit card, but not answer any questions about anything else. Like how much does he owe? "Hello my son is Tex Jr. SS# 123-45-6778 I would like to pay his remaining balance" "How much would you like to pay" "His balance" "I can't give you that info" "How do I know how much to pay" "You will have to ask your son" "OK, what if I pay $1,000 will that cover his balance?" "No sir" "If I pay $2,000, will that cover his balance?" "Yes it will" "What is I pay $1,500" . . . Welcome to FERPA. It's the same reason you can't call and ask what his grades are, unless he's given explicit written permission stating the names of people whom the school is allowed to share such information with.
  6. Living in Minneapolis, I only get Sox games on WGN or ESPN. Since they're not on either today for the game against the Twins, I just figured I wouldn't be able to watch...until I was flipping through the channels and remembered that I probably get the Twins game here. Oops.
  7. If you're going to make a promo video for your fall tour, it might as well be a fake gay porno. NSFW...the Foos really do bare their asses in the video. http://stereogum.com/794062/foo-fighters-m...ay-porno/video/
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Versus the stance that the kid is disposable. Erm, isn't one of the more, shall we say "contentious" points of debate, that whether or not what's being aborted is a "kid" or not? If that's the issue, framing an argument (which is a pretty liberal use of the term given the quoted text) using the central issue ("kid") as a given premise is going to accomplish zero.
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) I wonder how this helps the children? Oh wait, it doesn't, it just makes a bunch of whiny ass losers feel better for a few moments to destroy school property to 'make a point'. If caught, the person should get MAXIMUM penalties, fines, jail time. http://www.620wtmj.com/news/local/128458763.html Are you expecting most liberals to disagree with that? Maybe they will, maybe they won't...but I for one think it's pointless to protest at a school reading (unless there were some super ridiculous extraneous circumstances that aren't being reported here, but I doubt that).
  10. I think Hollowell will be the best of the bunch when all is said and done. He's PotY material.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 07:14 AM) The British may be an ugly bunch of people, but they sure know how to produce some hot big boobed ladies. I saw something on Manswers once (so you know it's credible) that you don't want a hand job from a British woman...apparently they don't wash their hands very often.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) I concur, and maybe he wouldn't. He just seems like the type of player to take that kind of thing very seriously. I think he takes it seriously enough the he respects it, and wouldn't cheapen it like that.
  13. I forget which blog I read this on (ESPN Big Ten Blog, maybe), but they likened to something a grandma would buy on HLN/QVC...I definitely agree.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) No beer sales Wait, really? Northwestern doesn't have beer sales? Is that a school thing or an Evanston thing? Despite growing up 10-15 minutes from the the campus, I never went to a football game there.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) The Indians and Twins have each had 8-10 more major injuries than the Sox this year. This. The Sox just haven't capitalized on anything.
  16. Oh yeah, the 6th banner thing was obviously in jest. Crean will most definitely get 2-3 more years, because of Zeller this year, and banner recruiting class coming the year after. This should definitely be the best year of his tenure so far. For the past few years, there have been people playing who shouldn't have been...this will be the first year that there will probably be people who should be playing but won't be able to. I don't think Zeller will be some massive savior (frankly, he was more that in the sense that news of his commit was the "We're coming back" catalyst, and directly led to a few more recruits). But he's going to be the most talented player on the roster, and he's a big, which is something we desperately need. He's more of a 4, but he might be forced into the 5 sometimes. Hopefully, Watford and Elston will be able to go out to the 3 more, instead of having to play the 4/5. I'm also excited for Abell, and to see if he's actually a point guard. A big point who can drive? That's exactly what Crean's offense needs. Well, that and to not stand around holding the ball for ten seconds at a time. That happens way too often. Apparently Sheehey and Oladipo have really improved, too. If Dipo can learn to become at least a decent shooter, he could be All Big Ten. He can get to the hoop with the best of them, and he's freakishly athletic. Also, he's probably our best defender. Sheehey is also really athletic, and the same goes for him if he could learn to shoot...but he crashes the boards less than Dipo. But that dunk Sheehey had against Iowa last year? WOW. Overall, I'm thinking it's going to be roughly .500 overall, and maybe like 6-10 (or are we up to an 18 game schedule now? In that case, 7-11) or 7-9. Better than the 3-15 of last year, anyway.
  17. Pete Pihos, the only Indiana Hoosier football player to twice be selected to the All-American team, and the only one to be elected the Hall of Fame, died at 87 after battling Alzheimer's. http://blogs.heraldtimesonline.com/iusp/?p=15085 Sidenote: Without looking it up, I'm assuming he's not the only one in the Hall of Fame...Taliaferro was the first black player in the NFL and is probably in the Hall of Fame, right?
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) While Sullinger is obviously an outstanding college player, you're basically the Ohio State version of Baghdad Bob, so I'll wait and see on the bolded. I always thought Sullinger was closer to 6'6 or 6'7, but 6'5 wouldn't shock me. I assume he's actually 6'7", MAYBE 6'8". Regardless, the kid is still a candidate for PotY in the B1G, and Ohio State is definitely the favorite heading into the season. Though obviously, the Hoosiers are going to go undefeated in conference and hang up the 6th banner this year.
  19. Completely random sidenote: You guys seem more civil today, and actually analyzing eachothers' posts. This heartens me.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) What law school, farmteam? University of St. Thomas. I got into places like DePaul, Loyola and Denver, but UST had the best combination of money and how I comfortable I felt. UST only actually opened ten years ago (well, technically it opened in the 1920s, but closed in the Depression, and reopened a decade ago), and at first I was worried about that...but the more I talked to alums and others with the school, I realized how involved everyone is. I also like that it's right downtown, and the law building is gorgeous (built in 2003). Apparently even in just 10 years, it's regarded even better in the Twin Cities than William Mitchell or Hamline, the two other local law schools (obviously the University of Minnesota is more highly regarded). Their placement within the cities is really good. Basically...I'm excited to be here!
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) Are you from Minny? I'll be there for a conference in October, would love dining suggestions downtown. Nope. Grew up north of Chicago, went to IU for college (graduated this past May), and just moved to Minneapolis for law school. I've been here a few times though, so I know a good place or two. Mostly of the brewpup variety though, I haven't had a chance to be too adventurous yet.
  22. Moved into my new place in Minneapolis...boxes are EVERYWHERE.
  23. I'm starting to get into craft brews more, but I'm only just starting to build up my tolerance for anything remotely hoppy (i.e. anything hoppier than a wheat ale...which is everything). It's a long process, but I'm enjoying it.
  24. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) I am the youngest. Pretty sure my mom didn't much care by that point. Same...sort of. Since I'm the "baby" there was also a bit of that, "MY BABY IS GOING TO COLLEGE! AWWW" thing.
