  1. It's true, I'm a heathen. Apparently I have something in common with Yankees fans.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) Someone just recently pointed out to me that Hitler was Austrian. I never would have thought that, Austrians seem harmless. Yeah, he was a Corporal in the Austrian Army in WWI. I think he also won the Iron Cross First Class, and was 25% Jewish, but I might be wrong about those two points.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:12 PM) Perhaps, "Do not desire your neighbor's ass?" How did we get to talking about donkeys.
  4. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) That's s***ty. Minny has a rep as a gay-friendly city. Yeah, it's very gay friendly. I distinctly remember large billboard ads downtown a couple weeks ago that were clearly targeted at gays. Not something you'd see in most cities, unfortunately.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) If your stomach can handle Tylenol (I Know that bothers some people), it's the main OTC pain relever which does not cause blood thinning. Perhaps not for situations such as this where clotting is paramount, but I prefer ibuprofen...way less harsh on the body.

The Killing was awesome last night. I agree with what Brian said I above...I'm gonna be pretty angry if they make us wait until season 2 to find out who the killer is. I'd rather we found out who the killer is in the finale, and the "cliffhanger" has something to do with one of the characters' stories.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) Isn't this already law in Illinois? I have not heard that, which obviously doesn't mean it's not the case. I do know there's wonky rules with shipping wine.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) I read that and went through some of the links. I could really evaluate based on the articles whether or not it would actually shut down any small breweries or not, a number of them said that they already use distributors and it isn't a problem. I don't think it'll shut (m)any down. It just seems sort of ridiculous to enforce you to add a middleman. I'd agree that I think most decently sized breweries (decently sized for craft breweries, anyway) already use distributors...I would imagine that to even just have statewide distribution (let alone regional), you'd need a distributor.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) I just feel that whomever is revealed as the killer won't make me fulfilled at all unless it is someone completely out there. Show just lost steam with me. I've kind of wondered that, but it seems too cliche.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) Which is the reason why I never decided to watch the Danish version of it, and why I never plan on watching the UK version of Shameless. Oh definitely, I like Shameless way too much to do that. Though I think someone earlier in this thread said that the series differ slightly; at the end of Season 1 in the UK version, Fiona goes with Steve.

Yeah, I'm with you guys...this episode of the Killing annoyed me. As for my theories...
  13. I believe you've said before where you work, and I interviewed with them once for an internship last year. Didn't get past the first round, but I had a pretty positive experience. The interviewer was great, real down to earth. They do a lot of recruiting at IU, it seems.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ May 21, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) And they volunteer as sport coaches, Scout leaders, help out at youth centers, etc. They take on jobs ranging from Doctor to school janitor. But those jobs probably have way less of a "cover up" culture than the Church did/does, meaning it didn't all explode at once. Also, in those jobs I think there's a bit less of the "one on one" you can have as a Priest, as well as the inherent level trust parents have in you (or at least it used to be that way, before all the scandals). Yeah, a doctor also has plenty of one on one time and an inherent level of trust...but there's way more exhaustive and expensive training to be a doctor than training to be a priest.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) Are you kidding? Think about how easy it is to make fun of kucinich. Dept. Of peace? How unmanly. He'll, it turns out that hippies wee even responsible for the catholic church abuse scandal. Yes, but Kucinich is an elf who has a hot wife, so he gets a pass.
  16. For some reason I'm really digging Ray LaMontagne and Warren Zevon (The Wind, specifically) tonight. I must be in a contemplative mood.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) These people can vote AND have children. That's the disturbing part. I realize the left has crazies like this too, but I feel they're less easy to lampoon.
  18. Without putting TOO much consideration into it, I've always thought that celibacy wasn't really the root cause, but likely exacerbated the problem. I'd say more of it has to do with the fact that a pedophile is more likely to seek out a line of work where he has easier access to his potential victims.
  19. This would definitely suck, and take most/all of the fun out of it.
  20. I actually gave the best man speech at my brother's wedding a couple months ago. I kept it brief (1 minute, maybe 1.5 minutes), told a little anecdote about my brother and I and tied it into his wife. The biggest thing is BE BRIEF. No one wants a long speech. Also, don't be too drunk when you give it...pace yourself beforehand, and go crazy afterwards. Other note: Don't drink so much the night before the wedding that you black out, faceplant in the hallway outside your hotel room, scuff up your face in a few places, and then have to wear makeup to cover it up for the wedding pictures.

    Channahon

My aunt/uncle/cousins live there. It's just southwest of Joliet on 55. As others have said, pretty small town, not much going on. I live north of the city, and it's about 1:10 away.
  22. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 16, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) Hope you got a chance to enjoy a flight or two at Teqila Cava in Mexico. Best EPCOT addition in years. How long has that been there? Soarin is my favorite Disney World attraction, for sure.
  23. The Aragon is far and away my favorite live venue (admittedly, I haven't been to many). I can imagine that Rise Against would be pretty damn good too, live.
