    True Detective was great. Colin Farrell plays f***ed up so well. And though I just think of him as a comedic actor, Vaughn seems like he can pull this off. He could play ruthless well. Ballers was entertaining. Seems like a sports version of Entourage. The Brink was hilarious. I have high hopes.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) I believe Florida was paying half his salary too. RIP CapGeek and the site's owner, that was the best resource. Try General Fanager
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Very surprised at all the Jackson love. He had MJ, folks. You know how hard it is to win the Stanley Cup? And Q has Toews, Kane, Hossa and Keith. Coaches who win lots of championships tend to have really good players.

    QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) I'm sure the $250 million part might have been true. I think he was that desperate. He definitely is. Solid finale. Gilfoyle continues to be the best character.
  5. I haven't read the books, can someone explain the whole many-faced God storyline to me? I just didn't understand it. So they euthanize people, then take their faces to use as assassins? And then Jaqen killed himself, but he really killed Arya? The whole thing was just confusing to me in the show, maybe it makes more sense in the books.
  6. Kane looked a lot better in game 3, even without a point. But man, Patrick Sharp...he's been invisible since Minnesota, and he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire then either.
  7. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) MY GOD! You are unbelieveable! Dude! Not following police instruction SHOULD NOT result in your death! That simple. Mike Brown and Eric Garner were MURDERED by power-hungry cops for not following instructions, and that is an outrage, a travesty. It makes America look like a third world country when unarmed citizens are killed by the police for disobedience. Without wanting to rehash the whole thing, there was some conflicting evidence for Brown, but the way the indictment was handled was bush league. He should have been indicted, if not for the prosecutor trying to defend Wilson. Garner was unbelievable.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) He was their superior. That's depressing.
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) Maybe if Iraq was managed better having to re-invade wouldn't be an option. You know you set this up for the incredibly easy "if Iraq wasn't invaded in 2003 it wouldn't need to be managed at all" right?
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) No political angle to this at all right? Even based solely on the video before the girl's friends ran back toward him he should have been placed on a lengthy unpaid leave, if not canned. Inexcusable and stupid. There were plenty of other cops visible in the video, and they weren't freaking out like this guy. And good for the two cops for running up as soon as the guy pulled out his gun, but why weren't they calming down before?
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Team USA just beat the Neatherlands in a friendly, where we scored 2 goals in the last few minutes of the game to win 4-3. Crazy. The Dutch had their full team minus Robben too while the US were missing Dempsey along with Gonzalez and Besler. With a Dutch shot off the crossbar in the middle.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 07:54 AM) I forgot just how f***in much I hate Amtrak. I've never taken an Amtrak, and from everything I've heard, I don't want to.
  13. More of a bar question than a beer question. My cousin just moved to Lincoln Park (Sheffield and Armitage) and wants to find a decent bar to frequent, but said a lot of the ones near him turn him off (irrationally or not) by having Cubs signs in the window. I said of course they do, it's the northside. Are there actually any Sox bars around there? And generally, any good bars within walking distance of Sheffield and Armitage I should recommend to him?
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 2, 2015 -> 07:40 AM) The rule states that there has to be a distinct kicking motion. There wasn't one. You are allowed to redirect the puck with your skate as long as you don't kick at it. If you saw the slo-mo replay it was actually the goalie who screwed up after he made the initial save . The rebound dropped right in front of him and he wanted to get it out of there so he swept it with his stick right into the path of the on rushing Hossa. Hossa already had his skates turned to slow himself down . In real time its like a half second from the sweep by the goalie to the puck hitting Hossa's skate. He didn't even have time to think of "kicking " the puck. It's one of those things where the slo-mo made it look a lot worse than it actually was. Real time it wasn't a kicking motion.
  15. Wasn't sure where else to put this. Some people rode around on bikes and kept spraying people on pedal pubs with water guns in downtown Minneapolis. The third pedal pub they sprayed was full of off duty suburban cops, who jumped off the pedal pub and started beating them down. These people were total douchebags for riding around spraying the people on pedal pubs solely because they hate pedal pubs. But the off-duty cops' reaction was absurd. No one "won" here. Btw, are pedal pubs a thing in other cities? They're pretty popular here.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 27, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) I agree that if 2022 gets yanked from Qatar, Australia or even China have a good shot if they want it. 2026 is going to be held by CONCACAF most likely. I heard someone on a soccer show this morning say that he believes this will be like a mafia investigation, where these middle men will roll on their bosses. We'll see, but man I'd love to see Sepp and his cronies get theirs. That's already happening. Apparently Jack Warner's sons were some of the government's key witnesses.
  17. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 20, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) Let me know what you thought of this. I was at McBrides on 52 a couple weeks back and they had this on tap. When I ordered it, the waitress suggested I try a sample first because she thought it was a lot like a plain light beer. I tried a sample and agreed that it didn't have much watermelon flavor at all and was rather bland. I haven't tried it elsewhere yet. Tried it, I agree with this. I did taste the watermelon but it was otherwise pretty bland.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 25, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Playoff hockey and Labatt Blue, can't go wrong there. (And it's very cheap) Love Labatt. We just call Blue Lights "Canadian Water."
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 22, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) Agreed. I was wondering when it would happen, surprised it hasn't yet. PROTEST!!!
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 20, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) They were inside and outside. They all showed up at the same time and the restaurant was running like normal, there were people there. What I didn't quite understand was that it seemed like cops knew this was gonna happen. A lot of cops were already there before the actual violence started. So on one hand, why the hell didn't Twin Peaks do anything (I saw one of the sergeants on site absolutely blasted both the franchise and corporate for not working with police), and on the other, weren't the innocent patrons a little concerned when they saw that many cops?
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ May 20, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) But obviously I'm not ever risking Supreme Court justices being appointed by a republican on my watch. It can be understated how critical this is. It might be the area a president has the most influence in.

    Job Hunt Thread

    QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 19, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Only when insurance companies refuse to pick up a tender. We represent a couple of big utilities and then some random businesses. Mostly property damage/PI work, but also contract disputes, employment disputes, etc. The defense work really pays the bills and then the plaintiff stuff we can sort of pick and choose what we want to do, so it's mostly larger med mal or wrongful death cases. Although we do have the occasional bulls*** $20k auto cases too. It varies, which is nice. Keeps things interesting. I can't imagine doing the insurance defense stuff, working the same types of cases over and over again. I do more government liability and get variety, but the ones who just keep doing small potatoes PI stuff? No idea.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) I'll let you guys decide who to believe. SportsCenter@SportsCenter John Calipari has made it known to Pelicans officials that he's interested in the team's head-coaching job. (via http://NOLA.com ) John Calipari ‏@UKCoachCalipari 1h1 hour ago Even though Anthony and Tyreke are in NOLA, I have no interest in the Pelicans or any other job. I have a great job and I'm happy at UK. You know he's going back to the NBA at some point. Just a matter of time.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Their offense is underrated, I believe they were a top 10 scoring offense last year. All they need is a little bit of pitching to win some games. Seriously. They need some arms. Berrios looking real good in AA. If Sano and Buxton are even half as good as hyped, that lineup will be damn dangerous.
