For Basketball, my favorite team by far is Illinois, and after that it's Northwestern, and then I don't really care. Maybe Boston College (and yes, I kind of liked them before their season last year), Pepperdine, Stanford, something like that. For football, I like both Northwestern and Illinois equally, and after that it's probably Michigan (really taken a liking to them lately, in all sports), Penn State, West Virginia, VA Tech, Stanford, Texas.

I thought they were pretty funny (though I didn't see American Dad).

I have the original Oregon Trail still, I bought in a pack of games 5 or 6 years ago. Also, the latest version is Oregon Trail IV. And forget about Math Munchers, SUPER Munchers was the best. You could a pick different categories (like geography and the like) and play those. I was the best at that game.

The article did say "Major teams and conferences" I believe, which makes me think you won't find the smaller teams (a la Illinois State) in the game. But then they'll have the Big 10 (there was a screenshot of Michigan I think), Pac 10, SEC, Big 12, etc.
