QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 12, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) Stat of the day: In the Toews/Kane era, the Hawks have been tied at 2-2 in 7 playoff series. In the following games they are 13-0 and have never faced a game 7. That's flat out unreal.

I actually like the Saad-Kruger-Kane line. The others not so much.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 9, 2014 -> 07:31 AM) I mean if Donald fell the Bears would be in exact same position we are now with safety. Yep! I like Fuller. I would have been fine with any of the defensive backs there.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 8, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) Are there tickets even available the day of? Don't they sell out ahead of time? There really aren't walk-up crowds then. I think he means the secondhand market, where fans of the teams that lost sell to fans whose teams are still in it. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 7, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) I just see an issue with this when you have upsets in the tournament, as you do every year. Middle tier teams that may win one game or may win it all. Are you going to get the walk-up crowds that you would normally get in Chicago or Indy? This is the only possible issue I see, but I really think it'll be better than you might expect. And even if it does affect it, that single reason doesn't make the whole proposition a terrible idea. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 8, 2014 -> 07:10 AM) What about a legit white Hawks jersey with the #17 on the back and SECONDS written as the player name? I'm generally not a fan of personalized names on jerseys, but this would be pretty awesome. Getting your own name on the back is weirder to me more than getting a green jersey or whatever. My choice would be to just get a regular jersey in terms of name/colors, but there's no reason to get high and mighty about it.

Just finished my last final. See ya, law school.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 6, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) The point is, the PAC 12 wouldn't move it so far away from their fan bases. What's next, BT moves it to Omaha because Nebraska is close to it? It's irrelevant how close Maryland is to DC, as it's not a tournament for only Maryland fans. You weren't going to see the old big east put their tournament in Chicago just because Depaul was around the corner. School Indy Chicago D.C. Illinois 121 136 700 Indiana 50 233 629 Iowa 362 221 911 Maryland 574 698 9 Michigan 262 242 529 Mich St. 254 223 593 Minnesota 592 408 1117 Nebraska 637 518 1208 NW 197 12 717 Ohio State 176 326 405 Penn State 497 568 206 Purdue 65 124 642 Rutgers 686 782 196 Wisconsin 330 146 855 If the Big East had wanted to grow the Chicago market, then yeah you might've seen that. The East Coast Big Ten alum market is huge. They're trying to tap into that much moreso than the Maryland/Rutgers fanbases IMO, though the latter is part of it (as a general way of expanding the Big Ten brand). The tournament has been in Chicago/Indy for the last 15 years. The conference is expanding, and this is part of tapping into that new market. EDIT: It's also funny that you brought up Omaha since the baseball tournament is there this year for this first time ever. -

I really don't see what the big deal is. I was surprised it wasn't the Barclays Center. And the comparison to the Pac-12 putting their tournament on the East Coast is ludicrous. The most eastern team in the Pac-12 is Colorado. Distance from Boulder, CO to Washington DC: 1,625 miles. Distance from College Park, MD to Washington DC: 9.2 miles -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 5, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) I was some how able to get tickets for The Replacements, Lucero and Hold Steady for the show up in St. Paul. Should be a great show. ?!?!?! How were you able to accomplish this? It's an impossible ticket.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 1, 2014 -> 06:54 AM) Route 55 doesn't get as effected as other highways for hawks games sometimes anyway And I passed out in OT, awesome to wake up to. Looks like I'll be taking in a road game. Oh, heading up this way? It's going to be a little more interesting to be a Blackhawks fan in Minnesota for the next couple of weeks.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 06:31 AM) Funny stuff from Puck Daddy: Eulogy: Remembering the 2013-2014 Blues That was pretty great. Except for the dig at toasted ravioli, that stuff is the goods.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) I'm starting to think that Teddy Bridgewater might fall to the Vikings. Was hoping that wouldn't happen. I think that's the best scenario for them. Manziel should would pump up the fanbase though, regardless of how he pans out.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) I like to think of myself as a pretty realistic poster myself. I'm not sure what you guys think of me. I wouldn't be surprised if everybody thought I was a homer because I'm one of the like 10 people in the world willing to defend Beckman (on some things). No one on this board is as bad as like scoutboard or ESPN posters. Those are awful. Whether they're being exceedingly optimistic or not, people here tend to actually support their opinions. Way to go, team. -

For the record, I think B>W is the most reasonable (read: realistic) Illini fan here. He just doesn't let the fan part of his brain block what the realistic part is telling him. LittleHurt is in that category too. Then comes Jenks and Russ, who sometimes put the orange-and-blue glasses on but are mostly level-headed. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) Bought tickets to see Sir Paul in July. Not cheap, but that could easily be a once in a lifetime opportunity. You going to the one at Target Field? I'll be there. EDIT: Probably not, since that show is not in July (August 2).

Last Week Tonight was good, pretty much what I expected: The Daily Show, but on HBO. I'm hoping it takes on a more serious tone than the Daily Show though, Oliver could really pull it off. A witty, comedic news show instead of a news-oriented comedy show.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 26, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) ya he's toast... "why are you taking pictures with minorities?" lol really amazing his young hot girlfriend sells him out too What can the NBA really do to him? Serious question. I'm sure there's some sort of censure option, but is there anything of actual substance?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 11:11 AM) It seems to me that a lot of times, guys get recruited as offensive players and they end up transitioning to defense for any number of reasons. Jon Beason was a fullback at one point for Miami but he's been a great linebacker in the NFL, and Richard Sherman was recruited as a WR and now he's a shutdown corner. Barr is still a bit raw, but there is definitely some incredible upside there. There have been concerns about his technique, given how little he's played, but the upside is huge. Frankly, he seems like a boom/bust prospect. I could definitely see him either going the route of Merriman or Maybin. JJ Watt, too. Barr definitely seems boom or bust.

Hell yes! Abreu, oh man. Way for Eaton to keep the inning going.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 05:58 PM) I saw that. They would have to be two of the least likely to get away with it, and two of the least likely to need it... If they really tried to use fake IDs at a bar for Lil 5 they're morons. Complete and utter morons. I assume they drink because they're college students. But this is a different level of stupidity. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 11:21 PM) I mean, if you are from Minnesota, youve literally seen nothing but failure other than the twins in 87 and 91. The rest is total f***ing failure. Haha, my friends complain about this all the time. That was one more reason they were pissed the Gophers lost in the championship game to Union a couple weeks ago.

American Football is (briefly) reuniting. I'm not familiar with them, but I'm guessing some here might be. Popular at U of I in the late 90s.
