NCAA basketball 2014-15 thread
farmteam replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) I've only seen a little of Tyrus Jones but I don't believe he's that good. Plays in Minnesota which as we know, isn't exactly a hot bed of HS hoops. Was brutal vs Whitney Young until game was pretty much over. Only two real senior studs this year, Jones and Reid Travis (Stanford). Fun fact: Travis played for De La Salle, a high school that is literally on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. And yes, their name is the Islanders. -

Kenny Johnson leaving IU to be lead assistant at Louisville. Do not like. He's a great recruiter, especially in the DC/MD/VA area. -
Congrats, Shack! Have fun, bud!

Silicon Valley was absolute gold tonight. I lost it when they were pretending to shout out tech brand names during sex.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) OMG, the rat killing on Workaholics this week. I just f***ing lost it. That was hysterical.

I completely forgot that my signature has the Tadahito Iguchi fan club stuff in it until someone just asked me to join. That's what I get for turning off signatures.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 09:18 AM) Django is actually my favorite of his movies including Pulp Fiction. Funny, Pulp Fiction is the movie I was referring to. I don't really like sitting down and watching the whole movie, but the scene with John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in the apartment (English motherf***er! Do you speak it?) is one of my favorite scenes of any movie.

Watched Django Unchained the other night. Just happened to catch it as it started on Showtime and kept watching. I was surprised how much I liked it. Usually with Tarantino movies there are certain scenes that I love but I don't like sitting down to watch the whole movie.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 04:42 PM) I have to share this since I don't win things often. One of my vendors was hosting a NCAA tourney pool. They are nation wide and have thousands of customers. Free to enter with tons of sports prizes offered from a memorabilia shop. I won. By 1 point. Woo Hoo! What I won was was a Magic Johnson autographed Michigan State jersey with case. I don't have many non-Sox things in my sports room, but I can find room for this. That's pretty awesome. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 12:45 AM) You mean Indiana as in IU, or do you just choose to ignore Notre Dame? IU.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) Minnesota shorthanded goal to win it with .6 left in the 3rd. That came after a faceoff in the Minnesota zone with 9 seconds to go.

I really have no idea how Indiana will be next year. You could tell me they'll finish .500 and miss the NIT again or finish 3rd in the Big Ten and go to the Sweet Sixteen and I'd believe you. Shooting should definitely improve, as Blackmon is a straight stud there (might be the best shooter in the class, won the McD's 3-point contest too). Johnson is no slouch there, either. Also gives us some additional ballhandlers. Hopefully that will cut down on the turnovers, because that absolutely has to improve. Don't really have a true big (even if we land that Trevor Thompson, he has to sit out a year), biggest guy on the court will be Mosquera-Perea or Devin Davis. Could be successful if they play similar to how Duke did at a lot of times. Also hoping for a real big leap from Troy Williams. He could be a real, real good player. If not this year, then his junior year. Just gotta put the work in, that talent and athleticism is there in spades. -
And the cherry on top is that it was scored by Justin Holl, Blackhawks 2nd round pick in 2010.

Holy motherf***ing Christ on a cracker.

Anyone watching the Frozen Four? Minnesota-North Dakota with a real good one going on. Because Indiana doesn't have a D1 hockey team, it's the only sport I root for the Gophers in.

Solid couple minutes there for #10.

Northwestern Wildcat Players Attempt to Unionize

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 08:07 PM) You enforce it like a regular contract. You agree to play for 4 years and in return you get scholarship, room, board, and exposure to the NBA. Not a thing the NBA could do about it. Yeah but what's the stop players from breaking that contract? I don't know if forcing the kid to pay back the benefits he received would hold up. -
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) I just want the best pitcher we can get, whomever that may be. This. I never guess right on this stuff (I liked the McCulloch and Mitchell picks), but I want either Beede or Aiken.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 01:14 PM) I love Justified but not so sure about the second comment. Final season should bring everything full circle. Wish it would start sooner. Name me a better one. Obviously, a lot of this sort of thing comes down to personal preference. But for my money, Walton Goggins as Boyd Crowder is the best there is.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) Justified is gearing up for a major Raylan vs. Boyd showdown next season. Yes it is, which is exactly what it should be for the final season. Boyd Crowder is the best character on television, and it's not even close.

You know you want to hear Vin Scully talking about a crack pipe.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) Justified finale Darryl Crowe's a dead man.

Shameless didn't really feel like a season finale.
