Belisario just has no business being closer. Glad he's out. I'd be fine with Guerra or Petricka.

The head of the Fraternal Order of Police had a hilarious line. "There's more at stake here than due process. It's public safety." He's acting like getting a warrant is difficult.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 12:23 PM) I'll just leave it to the Rabbi who reacted to Gibson's first crazy anti-Jewish comments: “If it’s true what’s reported, frequently hatred, bigotry and prejudice, which is controlled, explodes at moments of stress and crisis. Liquor loosens the tongue of what’s in the mind and in the heart, and in his mind and in his heart is his conspiracy theory about Jews and hatred of Jews.” This line of logic bothers me. I admit there's some truth to it, but I don't think it's correct to say that what a person says when he's drunk is what he truly believes, but just doesn't say when sober. A person can't help what thoughts run across their head. What a person chooses to say or not say is just as important as what he thinks, and that decision-making is obviously imperiled when drunk. Where the "some" truth to it comes in is what SS alluded to -- when it happens 3 or 4 times, it's more likely to be what the person really does believe.

IU and Illinois among the 6 finalists for Jalen Coleman. I think Michigan is considered the leader right now, though. -
Anyone else catch the Tyrant premiere this week? Not bad. I'll keep watching.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 11:28 PM) Jeff Goodman - Bulls are tonight's big winner Yeah he loved the pick. Guys on NBA TV loved McDermott, too.

I really have no idea what Stauskas does in his career. You could tell me he'll be an 8-time All Star or that he's out of the league in 3 years, and I'd believe either one.
-
Maybe it's because I watched him repeatedly murder IU, but I wouldn't be sad if Gary Harris falls to the Bulls.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) Me too though I don't get the wow? Wasn't he supposed to go more in the 7-10 range?

Embiid sure looks happy about heading to Philly.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 06:38 PM) Gene Honda should just announce all draft picks in every sport. This. So much this. I think Parker will be the best player from this draft, followed by someone less expected like Exum or Smart.

Congrats Tex and good luck pettie!

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) Keith wins his second Norris Trophy. So is Keith a Hall of Famer? Two Norris Trophies and two Stanley Cups looks pretty good on a resume. -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) Great advice here, get to know the 'hood and use padmapper for listings. Makes it so much easier to see where each apartment is and the filter is pretty great to find exactly what you're looking for (or close to it). I'll third the PadMapper recommendation. It's the straight goods. When I was moving to the Twin Cities and didn't know too much about the area I found the city-data forums helpful. Here's the Columbus forum: http://www.city-data.com/forum/columbus/ There also used to be a poster here who lived in Columbus. "TheDoctor" I think. Rock probably has some helpful info as well.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 10:34 AM) I've seen plenty of over the top comparisons all over the inter webs. He may be the next Buster Posey, he may be the next Jeff Clement, who knows. Just the gushing over 20 at-bats is amusing to me, I'm sure plenty of players in all leagues have had similar stretches, it happens in baseball. I always pull for Hoosiers. It was so much fun watching that lineup. Schwarber is tied to his bat. Doesn't really have a position, my guess is he sticks in LF.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) I really doubt they polled every Seminole and asked them how they felt about it. More likely they talked to the governing board of the tribe, and once they were bought off, that was that. What's FIB? f***ing Illinois Bastard. Never heard it til I went to IU. Apparently it's commonly used in Northwest Indiana, and to a lesser extent Southeastern Wisconsin. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) 1.975 OPS And four HRs in those 20 ABs.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I'm hoping Portugal is this year's version of 2010 France. That'd be nice. Agreed with others who said Johansson was better than we saw.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 02:21 PM) FWIW, Hockeybuzz is reporting that the Canucks want Saad for Kesler, so the Hawks said no. They also are reporting that the Hawks won't trade Seabrook or Hjalmarsson but are shopping Oduya. Ew. Also I don't mind dealing Seabrook or Oduya at all, Hjalmarsson would bum me out. Him and Keith are the best d-men and it's not close.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) SIU gets a commitment from 7'1" center Deng Leek, meaning they will corner the market on large African born kids who have only been playing for a few years IU has signed three of those kids since 2008. I really don't think they played more than 100 minutes combined. EDIT: Turns out I didn't give them enough credit, mostly because of Tijan Jobe. Bawa Muniru: 62 minutes (transferred after one year) Tijan Jobe: 211 minutes (came in as a JUCO and played his 2 years) Peter Jurkin: 18 minutes (just finished his Sophomore year, lots of rumors that he won't be on the team this year because he just can't get his leg healthy). -
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 05:18 PM) It happened weekly in Detroit for a while, until Yahoo stopped putting the stories in their feed. There are always cases where someone with a gun protects themselves/family and it never gets reported because the bad guys go away without shots fired. Do you seriously think that people don't defend themselves with guns? I was in a situation where I was about 10 seconds away from having to do that myself. I thank God every day that I didn't have to, but I was ready to if I had to. There was no way those bastards were getting inside my house and at my wife and kids. I don't doubt it happens, but like you said it doesn't get reported. It's difficult for me to imagine because I can't think of a single incident where a gun would have come in handy. Maybe just my good fortune.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) What does that matter, we're judging Rick Hahn. Uh, because your point presupposes that they could have been moved for something better. Or not moved at all, but I'm guessing you wouldn't like that either.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 12:39 AM) For many people gun owner ship equals safety. You can't discount that, despite the many times anti gunners try to. People DO use guns to protect themselves and their families. All the time. As for a few of the other things you mentioned, I am sure many people would think twice about the license plate scanning and all the camera if they were given a choice. Many times those things were implemented without public knowledge until AFTER the fact. Do you mean people have/buy guns with the general intention of protecting their families, or that there are actual occurrences everyday where people protect themselves or their families with guns? Not jerking your chain, legitimately curious. And if it's the latter, can you give me some examples of what you mean? I'm just imagining bad guys bursting in the door and there's a gun-wielding homeowner standing in the way, and that seems far-fetched, at least to happen frequently.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Not enough to "love" what Hahn is doing. At best mixed results so far when he needed to use those pieces to start building the core. What would you have moved them for?

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) So you are comparing the CIA to the iRS? Torturing some terrorist vs intentionally distributing citizens tax information and intentionally targeting individuals? We're the torture emails linked to the White House? Another Liberal false equivalency.... But then you liberals have his cock so far down your throat ......oh forget it....this is why nobody posts in here anymore.....because even with something this blatant you will try to defend him...and you are not even doing that...you are comparing him to something that happened 8 yrs ago...what's your explanation of the thousands of illiegals Asshole is letting into the country...how many gang members and potential terrorists are included? Keep smoking the Hopium pipe...the Republicans should come out right now and not fund the EPA, the IRS, and HHS, next year. If f*** face wants to govern by executive order fiat, try funding the government that way too. f*** him and all you turds that support him... Skipping over the approval of torture in general (...), the bolded is what bothers me. In thread after thread, people like StrangeSox say they don't exactly love Obama. But then you see one post saying "Presidents doing bad things isn't unprecedented" and all of sudden they're bowing down at the shrine. It just suits your narrative. Y2HH, it's time for another one of your "it doesn't matter which party it is" rants.
