QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 30, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Strike while the iron is hot, they need someone to fill in for Morales. The Sox could pull Trumbo and maybe another good prospect for Konerko. I imagine I will get flamed for this. And you should get flamed. We need to sign Konerko for at least two more years

QUOTE (Lillian @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) I pointed this out some time ago, but worth mentioning again here: He stopped extending the thumb on his top hand. I've never seen another hitter do that, but he had been doing it consistently for as long as I can remember. Interesting observation

QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) He needs to stand on the plate. He is so far off, anytime he tries to pull the ball, he ends up hitting it off the end of the bat. I've seen it too and that is probbaly a reaction to being hit don't you think? Plus you wonder about the foor injury and such if it hasn't messed with his mind and approach

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 29, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) I want the old TCQ back!!!!!! I love the "Q" but one might ask the question, "who and what is the old TCQ?" The 36 homer/100 RBI guy or a hard swinger with minimal contact? I hope for the former.

QUOTE (Special K @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:11 AM) He had two solid hits tonight, a hit last night, and has been making solid contact with nothing to show for it. Although his average his low, he is starting to conribute and it's very encouraging to see for this offense and the team. I think if he starts heating up, and (don't hold your breath) Quentin starts heating up we can be a very competitive team that can actually give Minnesota some troubles, who have been struggling as of late. Criticism ensue... I think you are right. This offense needs to produce more for sure though and I hope it is starting to turn around. Beckham and Quentin have too much alent to live withj a BA under .200

It looks like we have Sunday versus TB on WGN and MLB TV will broadcast the Sox-Rangers on Thursday night. Next Saturday we have WGN showing the Sox and and then when the Sox-Cubs play we have June 11th on WGN, June 12th on Fox and June 13th is ESPN Sunday night baseball. See you all behind the TV! Hopefully the team is hot on on a roll. I can sense a change in fortunes.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 29, 2010 -> 05:04 AM) I agreed with every move that our manager made tonight. It's nice to be able to say that. Armchair managing is what baseball is all about. I love it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2010 -> 02:17 AM) I love Alex Rios. A Walker success story

QUOTE (beckham15 @ May 29, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) you must not like quick ninth innings then Thornton is good!

Quentin

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 28, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) No Ozzie tonight. Got a feeling that Ramirez, Beckham and Rios are going to lead us tonight, and Freddy will bounce back and keep the Rays off balance. Hope we see Q back in the lineup. I am holding you to that feeling. But, I've got it to. Sox Fever-Catch IT!

Nothing will change in the management circles. In my opinion Reinsdorf likes both a lot and we may instead see some revamping of the team

We need quality tonite Gavin!

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) The point is we won despite Bobby, not really due to any large contribution from him, other than not sucking worse. I do see your "point" and I probably used the wrong word, but still the bottom line is we won the game, but I sure don't want to see that kind of melt down by Jenks again. Can he get back on track? I haven't heard much in the way of comments from the Sox on this game. Has anyone else picked up anything?
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 27, 2010 -> 05:30 AM) Because just because Jenks hasn't blown saves doesn't mean he hasn't sucked donkey balls. This I agree with. My impression was always that you put Jenks in a close game and he sucks usually giving up at least one hit and a walk, but he got out of it usually. Put him in a game with a 3 or 4 run lead and/or not a save situation he would get them out 1-2-3. But the Indian gae blew that one out of the water.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Doesn't Putz get a substantial incentive if he leads the team in saves? Never heard that one, but it is interesting if correct

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) Well, we could very well end tonight 6 back, since the Twins have a frickin block on beating the Yankees. But the Rays series (and the Twins versus Texas) may very well determine the season's course. We are kind of missing the point and that is we did win today. It wasn't pretty but we won
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) Agree with you, Thornton may actually be less valuable to this team as a closer. Then again, Santos might be too. But I think it's him or Putz that gets the next shot. Thornton can be a two inning closer kind of guy though and that's pretty good. He might not be able to picth but every other day though. Putz and Thornton can complement each other or Santos could be put in that role with Thornton

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) I love how people are talking about Peavy the exact same way they talked about Rios. Interesting point

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) I know today wasn't a save opportunity but anyway: Just looking at the 7 games Jenks has saved: 4 of them were 1-run save-opps, 1 game the tying run reached base, 3 games the go ahead run reached based. The other 3 saves were 3-run save-opps, he allowed 1 baserunner in 2 of them and the other was his only perfect save of the year. His 1 blown save was a 1 run save opportunity in which he allowed 4 baserunners and 3 ER without retiring a batter. In other words: he's been walking an ultra fine line in 1-run save opportunities this year. You make the point with those figures and you are right. Jens has been playing with fire all year long. Plus when he does get the save he is still walking that fine line by his walks and hits allowed. Unacceptable!

QUOTE (qwerty @ May 26, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) Bobby jenks a wing and a prayer. At least he didn't fold and just give up. If nothing esle he battled and got those last two out. I hope he looks at himself in the mirror and gets this figured out. A closer with a ERA of almost 7 is not acceptable on any team

This game and that final inning should raise some conversation on ESPN BBTN. I want to hear what the "experts" have to say

The BJ was good for the final two hitters
