QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:29 AM) I can't wait to see us in Chicago again. I really hope the Sox give you guys somethin to cheer for. Watching on the TV isn't too fun, I've found after our 2 playoff runs. But, I bet you and I know I certainly do give it our best effort to cheer the Sox on

QUOTE (MO2005 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) So Kenny wanted Torii, he wanted Miggy Cabrera, and Renteria. So let's say he got these players along with Quentin and Ramirez. What do you think this lineup would of been able to do? ALDS? ALCS? World Series? Renteria Pierzynski Quentin M. Cabrera Dye Hunter Thome Konerko Ramirez You are assuming that if these acquisitions were made then CQ would have gotten the oportunity he did? Or even that Alexei would have had the chance to show us what he had at the major league level this year? I know what we would like in a perfect world, but it doesn't always happen the way we would like it to. The team made the best of what it had this year and maybe things would have been better if CQ, Contreras and Crede weren't injured. But, I am sure we will see some changes this winter, but they might not be what we all would like to see either. But, once again turning to NOW things ain't ovah till their ovah. We are still in post season play and have a chance now that we are back in Comiskey

Chicago @ Tampa Bay ALDS Game 2
elrockinMT replied to nitetrain8601's topic in 2008 Season in Review
XM radio as IO will be on the road for acouple hours during game time. Maybe I'll make it home in time to see a good ending on the tube -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) Back in 2005, I never bought the DVD set of the World Series. I have all 4 games on VHS with the intent of burning them to DVD some day, but I'd much rather have the clean DVDs. I just pulled up the DVD set on Amazon and it's on sale for 38.99. I thought about adding it to my Christmas List. So, do any of you own it? If so, is it worth it? I bought it last year and love it.

QUOTE (Cubano @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) 2B/SS/CF Yosmani Guerra and pitcher Ángel Oscar Argüelles. Guerra is a contact hitter and he is very fast. he is a better 2B than SS. Ángel Oscar Argüelles is the brother of LHP Noel Argüelles who defceted this year in Canada while playing with the cuban junior team. Ángel Oscar Argüelles should be very young and according to some reports, he is very tall. Cuban players trying to sign contracts now: 3B/outfielder Dayan Viciedo one of the best prospects in cuban baseball SS Juan Carlos Moreno gold glover in Cuba LHP Noel Areguelles who throws 90 + and is tall and has long arms SS Jose Iglesias who defected in Canada too while with the junior team. He is a contact hitter and is good with the glove. Another junior pitcher defected in Canada but I forgot his name. Cuban balllayers can be the next impact group in major league baseball in my opinion. I hope the Sox get a chance at signing a couple of those Cuban stars.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) What an outing by Clayton, in the post-season no less. He had 5 K's in the first 1 2/3 innings that he pitched. Sick Imagine if he had started the game. He also failed to get the first batter he faced out leading to the 6th run being scored. He did good after that. He has had many bad outings this year and a few good ones

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) we only need 1 of 2 on the road to start this. We had a 10x better chance in game 2 then game 1 going in. this changes nothing I'M WITH YOU ON THIS!
-
QUOTE (griffey17 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) The goal in any series is to split on the road...did we really think we could go into the dome and take 2? They have a good club, Javy didnt help but lets focus on tomorrow AMEN! ARE YOU GUYS WITH US!!!!!???

One Man's Timidity Can Set the Tone
elrockinMT replied to Friend of Nordhagen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, we have a pitcher who in the last four games at least can't get through 4 innings and seems to lack copnfidence in himself. But, we need to step up when playing in a dome stadium and we just need one game to even the series and go to Comiskey. That's all we need is the Thursday game I say again. The team needs to step up and get it done. I think we can do it. -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) He's lucky this isn't in Chicago. He might not make it from the mound back to the dugout. He does need to be gone in '09

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) f*** YOU VAZQUEZ!!!!!!!!!!!! f*** f*** f*** Please just bring in Clayton. What a f***ing pathetic excuse for a f***ing pitcher.... How does a big league pitcher not learn from his first mistake to a hitter?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) Javy is the human buzzkill. It's basically like Wise's HR never happened. Atleast Shields looks far from dominant. Nothing like taking the wind out of our sails and letting TB right back into it again
-
Vazquez=som much talent and is simply a .500 pitcher. Just can't figure it out
-
I am just so afraid the Vazquez can't stand the lead and needs to give up something here to TB
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) i'll take it - pressure is lifted, javy. DO YOUR JOB. One can only hope that Vazquez decides to step up today
-
QUOTE (SoCalSouthSider59 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) All the talk about how Wise sucks, then he hits a 3 run jack, too funny! I wasn't going to say Wise sucked just not that he should start, but I will eat my words gladly. Go D Wise and the Sox!!!

Twins have "internal discussions" about Cabrera and Crede
elrockinMT replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WCSox @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) They can have both of them. Crede's back is completely messed up and Cabrera's me-first attitude may be more of a problem than his age and declining range. I am not sure I agree with your analysis -
Twins have "internal discussions" about Cabrera and Crede
elrockinMT replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) Crede would be a classic Twins free agent signing. A guy on a downside for some reason, and on the cheap. Cabrera I just don't see happening. If any teams think Joe Crede is on the "downside" look for a one yer contract with incentives and maybe mutual agreed on extensions and Joe will prove he can still play. -
You can bet this article is on the Sox bulletin board
elrockinMT replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I had to listen to the tgamba Bay announcers over XM when the Sox played there and they are the most one sided folks I have ever listened too. You can't expect anything from them except rudeness and insulting comments and analysis. Best way to show them what they really are and that's losers is to beat them. -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) This is something I'd like to see for the playoffs. Griffey moves up to the #2 spot to replace Wise in the lineup, and Swisher hits below A.J in the #8 hole. Griffey has a .260/.347/.405 line since joining the White Sox, so he's got a pretty decent OBP, and only a 25/17 K/BB ratio. I think he would do a solid job there, and offer a bit more balance to the lineup. Do people think this would be the best option if Wise was moved out of the lineup? I'd much prefer Griffey hitting 2nd than say Brian Anderson. If Swisher does in fact replace Wise in the starting line up then I would agree with your suggestion
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) I like it, aside from Wise starting in LF. I give a lot of credit to what he did for us down the stretch, but his true colors are coming out, which was to be expected. Get Nick back into the lineup, hopefully have him finish the season on a really positive note. I agree. I don't know why Ozzie is so infatuated with Wise as a starter. He is not hitting and his defense is not great by an means. I would think Swisher deserves to be in LF since CQ is out.
-
Swisher should play IMO. Wise has not shown much since starting, which brings me back to previous observations I have made and that's the fact Wise, and other players, find their mark as subs, but aren't up to the task of being a full-time player. He does a great job filling in as a role player.

QUOTE (rockren @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) Wasn't he ridiculous? You knew it was coming as soon as you saw him in the box during pre-game. Not only was his bias against the WSox blatantly obvious, but he completely crapped all over that broadcast. I thought there broadcasters made several inaccurate references during the game. But, I saw it in HD and the graphics and camera work were good.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 02:39 AM) Just reported on CSN. Discuss Javy is a good pitcher and has something to prove to himself and the team and the fans. Be a winner Javy!
