QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) I am a fan of the whitesox first and foremost. I have seen a lot of players a hell of a lot better than Mr. Crede get moved and released over my timeline. I have not been happy with them, but understand that this is a business. Yet we keep seeing thread after thread on moving every single player, trading guys that produce a hell of a lot more than Crede, and then poof he will sign a long term deal based on faith and nothing more. A open forum like this is for the posting and debating of opinion. You make a point, I make a counter point. I base my views on documented evidence, you base it on how you really really really like the player. I think your opinion is quite one sided, but it's yours. I respect that, but don't tell me that Crede supporters, or a supporter of any other Sox player. don't also have valid arguments for their views.

Am I wrong or is Massett showing good stuff this spring? -
3/7/08 Game A - Sox @ LAAAAAAAAAAA, 2:05pm CT

I like thnat Jon Garland guy. I wish the Sox would try and trade for him B) -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) If you want to move Konerko because he will be a 5 and 10 guy sure I can understand. If you want to move Konerko because you are a Crede-fanboy and will trade anyone, and Jingle the lineup because you have this fantasy that he really really likes it here. And then you completely suspend belief and think that Boras and the sox will come up with a long time deal. I think you will wind up sad and confused in a bit. Maybe he does like it here. Why is it wrong in your opinion to be a fan of a real good Sox player? I think we can suspend with the sarcastic criticism of other Sox fans can't we? You have an opinion and others of us have different ones. It don't make it wrong by any means.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) Again, more Crede fanboys and their everquest to move everyone on the team around just to keep their player. Lets trade Konerko, Thome, Fields so we can keep a guy coming off injury who has Boras as his client. Makes sense. Don't be so critical. The sky is not falling because Joe Crede had back surgery. I always remember Tommy John, et al.

We might be seeing Brian Anderson as a reserve OF'er after all. I have noted he has thrown out at least two base runners ths spring. He seems to be hitting the ball pretty good too. Uribe could be our 2bman?! Maybe?
-
That's always apossibility. Or we can sign Crede, send Fields down to learn to play 1B or trade Thome and put Fields in at DH

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) McDougal will be given a shot to come north regardless of his spring. I think Wasserman will really have to outpitch Massett to make the team. Uribe is really getting close to a DFA. Why do you think Uribe is ready to be sent out/down or released? Not with his time in the bigs and the salary he is making. If anything he stays or gets traded, but not released outright. Explain yourself... -

Nice to see MacDougal got a scoreless inning. Thome and the rest of the non-hitting team should all be traded though. Mark that one with the green green of losing -

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) boone gives up the dinger. to a lefty. 4-1 McDougal, Logan, and who else in the relief corp ... ain't doing well so far? -
QUOTE(Shadows @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) If you eat cheerios with piss in it, does it still help lower your cholesterol? Are you looking for a scientific answer here? I do not want to be in that test group

I am thinking now that any Sox player who doesn't hit during the Cactus League games needs to be traded or released
-
Just checking box scores and Buerhle threw 4 innings of 1-hit scoreless ball. That is fantastic and hopefully we won't be hearing any more stuff on a sorer armed Mark B.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 02:50 AM) Both Crede and Fields won't be on the big league roster... I have this sickly feeling that Crede will be the starting third basemen and Fields will be back down at AAA. Sickly? Puhlease!

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) why on earth would you give up 2 legitimate young position players for a 2Bman who is 30 and doesn't put the Sox over the top? Seriously, I'd venture to guess that Quentin will outproduce Roberts this year (and will easily outproduce Owens) and I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that Danny Richar could outproduce him too. People make Roberts out to be some kind of god, when really he's only a year removed from a .750 OPS. Sure he steals bases, and those are sexy, but they aren't necessary to win. I just really want the Cubs to trade for Roberts already so these threads can stop coming up. I guess it's fun to just throw out crazy ides on trades, but this is a bit over the top. We don't need Roberts and especially giving up the number of players mentioned.
-
If the Sox trade Crede just for the sake of doing it I say shame on KW. Lowry is not equal to Crede. I think we need to keep Joe and also Fields who could step in for Konerko or Thome in a year or so. Think future here.
-
It seems Danks didn't look to bad in his 3 innings. But the pen blew it again. McDougal and Boone and even Jenks isn't sharp.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) that would instantly make him my second favorite player of all time to Jose Valentin I miss Jose V
-
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) If that were to happen I'd rather have Fields DH, Konerko at 1B and Crede at 3B. That makes more sense to me, but there isn't anything to say they can't all htree move around from their best psoitions and take turns at DH. You don't want to take Crede out of his spot at 3B and try him at 1B though. Fields would have abetter chance at this point in his careeer to handle 1B. Crede is agold glover at 3B.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) I'm not a Javy guy, but I don't even think twice about a veteran guy getting lit up right now. It doesn't mean anything. If it is continuing 3 weeks from now, I probably would change my mind. All they are trying to do as starters is get loose and build up arm strength. Javy is throwing for the first time this spring I believe. Johan Santana got lit up the other day in his Mets debut. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Except that Brian Anderson does have power. In fact, his major league slugging percentage is much higher than Owens' slugging and it's almost higher than his minor league slugging percentage too. And he's a .220 career major league hitter. If he can hit about .250, he'd slug .400 and that's a pretty damn good 4th outfielder. It's not a stretch to see him hit .250. Add to it that he's better defensively and actually has the talent to still develop into a starter, and I too would prefer Anderson on the bench over Owens. But I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Owens either. I agree with your analysis that BA does have power. Owens is the punch and judy hitter with speed of the two. Speed is a good thing mind you, but I would guess BA could steal 15-20 bases a year. Owens of course could hit 60 plus in SB, but he is the one with no power.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) .... the first couple of ST games on Comcast scheduled? I have to wait for the 15th or so and WGN
-
I would love to see Brian Anderson develop into a real good hitting OF'er with the Sox. It always makes me feel good about our organization when home grown talent makes it with the Sox
-
I hope this bullpen comes around even though it's real early in ST. They should be out there shutting the opponents down so they can show last year was not the way they really perform. I am pulling for Brian Anderson to make it also. The guy has the talent
