QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 4, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) You have no right to complain about BBTN since you have never been on the show I did sit on top of the TV once when the show was in progress. Does that count? Actually Kruk did say some good things about the Sox when he wasn't spitting all over himself in a rage.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 4, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) Actually they did show Iguchi's HR on the "touch em all" spot. Also it was said by I think Karl Ravich I saw their whole crappy show, but I missed Tad's homer and was hoping they had it on the program. I had the impression Kruk was drunk or something as he slurred words and used words that didn't fit his rambling sentences. The boy didn't make sense half the time./

MLB Game Day is froze. What happened on the pick off? Sloppy baserunning again by the Sox. -

2 on and Konerko swings at the first pitch at his shoelaces. What's up with that? Paulie is really slumping. Hope he can come out of it soon. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) For Pods so far this season, that was a blast. Have Pods or Iguchi come within 50 feet of a homer this year? Not that I'm complaining about it, just wondering. No they haven't and I am complaining. Anyway, I hope that as the season heast up they do too. Both have had flashes of power and I would love to see Iguchi get his first homer when we need it the most. Otherwise, if you can accept singles hitters they both are producing. -
I agree that earlier this year the Cintron move may have been something to consider, but we seem to have a well balanced and cohesive team. Any additions would have to be able to fit in with the team as it is built right now. Plus we shouldn't put much credence in these speculative newspaper statements. Every middle infielder out there would seem to be of interest to the Sox, if we did. Plus Frank Thomas ain't going anywhere except back into the Sox DH spot when he is healthy. We need that bat and his leadership. Frank would be tearing the league up right now if he was able to play. The man knows this could be the year and is itching to be a productive member of the team.

QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) my god, is Jon finally livin up to his potential? is this why the Scrubs picked him in the first round, top 10 overall IIRC? I have never seen him pitch with this much poise He isn't beating himself and what I am particularly impressed about is he goes right after the hitters. No fooling around and he doesn't walk a lot of batters. That is the secret to success in my opinion. He has such great stuff and now finally understands he doesn't have to finese. -

I think Jon Garland is making a statement this year. Maybe he is our Cy Young candidate? -
Gammons forgot more about baseball then we will ever know.. Puhlease... He must have forgot everything he knew about baseball then. The problem with these writers/analysts in my humble opinion is they read someone elses stuff and it becomes gospel and they have to start spouting off so as to impress their colleagues with their knowledge. It's a bit comical to watch ESPN BBTN when they start trying to one-up their partners.
-
I am sure we just have an optical illusion there. Reality has no place in blown umpire calls. I just hope it averages out for us.
-
To Quote Peter Gammons on BBTN: "C.C. Sabathia could have been a free agent next year, but he signed today (2 years $17.5M) because he wants to be in Cleveland when they win this thing and that's NEXT year." Where does this guy get off? Where does he get his analysis info from? It seems that every program of BBTN he has to try and one up the other loud mouths by topping their stuff with some off the wall comments. Never once a good comment about the Sox.

We need more consistent relief pitching and clutch hitting. I don't see the offesne coming through with runners in scoring position enough and I think we were hititng around .210 with runners in scoring position. The starting pitching is great and will be our leading weapon, however our hitters need to deliver and the relief corp, which lost the last two in Oakland, needs to step up. I think the hitting will come around, but I am not so sure about the pen. I really do think we can win this thing though.

I loggd on to MLB game day just in time to see that final Oakland batter get a hit. We lose 2-1. We have a banged up line up and people playing in posiitons they don't play in like Dye at SS? Wow! It sucks to lose and we lost our first series, but it was bound to happen. What I don't like is the fact in happened on the West Coast and in the fashion it did on Tue and today. The West Coast has been a black hole for us in years past and if we had won 2 out of 3 I could see myself thinking we had turned the corner. But, that Jon Garland game was something special anyway and we are still in 1st place.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) I know it's a rumor...but it's funny that the Cubs may be in panic mode. BTW, don't mess with the bullpen. Rolaid Relief Standings have us #1. Thta's right! Vizcaino maybe, but let's not trade any pitching away since that is our strength.

21st in fielding? Well, 4 errors in one game didn't help, but he forgets that the Sox are the leading defense in turning DP's and I think that counts a lot. Sorry Mr. what's that guys ame on ESPN???.. Oh yeah Krutches.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) They can only void it if it is knee related. I wonder if he would be willing to give the Tigers a refund?

I agree Dye needs some time in the corner getting spanked by Walker. I even picked the guy as my PTC tonight thinking he might break out of it. -
