QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) How about joining the party Beckham? he needs to join the party in Charlotte... -
I guess if there was one guy out there I'd really target it'd have to be Markakis. That is one really bad team so young players may be attractive to the O's at this point. Hell...I'd gladly give the CQ and a spec or 3 (depending on the level). Tough to pry him away probably...but they could save some quiche (believe he makes around $7M...which is a steal IMO). Wouldn't hurt to ask...

ASU with another typical choke job. Nobody showed up today for the Devils. Hats off to Clemson though.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Freaking ESPN... They report on the game and all they talk about is Strasburg. They don't even mention Gavin's name. I used to love them, but I've been steadily losing respect for anything ESPN since 2005 when Berman almost cried on air when we swept the Red Cubs in the first round. geezus...took you this long?!? Every aspect of ESPN reporting blows.

Have the CF shift to pull and pitch him outside. nice communication or recognition.

Former Birmingham Barons Manager Wally Backham Goes Ape-S*#t

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) He was the D-backs manager for a minute, wasn't he? hahaaa...I love Wally Backman! Yes...for about 3 or 4 days he was manager of the DBags and a NY paper wrote a story about he was arrested a couple times (one on a domestic dispute and the other a DUI)...and that he had some serious financial problems. BFD. DBags really dropped the ball on this one IMO. I always thought the guy deserved a second chance. -
My most fun to ever watch was Dick Allen!

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Amazing game going on between Arkansas and Arizona St. Arkansas was one strike away from being eliminated, but Eibner hit a bomb off of Jordan Swaggerty. Az St. has a set-up man, freshman Jake Barrett, that reached 97 mph. Amazing game last night indeed! Glad it started at 7pm cause it gave me time to get back from a weekend at the lake and catch the game. Pure electricity out there. I really like this ASU team...VERY resilient up and down the lineup and fundamentally sound. I really wouldn't be surprised to see a all Pac 10 final with ASU and UCLA (who's pretty solid too). And fathom...Barrett's gonna be a complete stud in a couple years. He was a 3rd round pick of Toronto last year outta hight school but opted for ASU. He was projected by a few sites to possibly go in the 1st round but I think his solid commit to ASU might have shy'd some teams away. And granted...the ASU team has gone one all year without Spence at all. I bet he might be kicking himself in the ass for not signing with the Halos last year when he was drafted in the 3rd round.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) Isn't Vin Scully (minus the awful dye job) just magic to listen to? I could watch/listen to Dodger games forever... Listen to on the radio...yes. If the game is on right in front of you...no.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:56 AM) Quentin Ramirez Depending on the return...why on earth would these guys be on your untouchable list?!?!?

Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?
Wanne replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Completely disinterested has been my feeling...probably from about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Can't remember the last game I sat down and watched. What a COMPLETE WASTE of $160 for MLB Extra Innings. I ponder all the Heiney Light I could have bought with that!!! -
What still kills me is this O has been stagnent for the past 4 years...and what's the common denominator? Our plate approach sucks no matter what pieces are moved in and out. It doesn't really take a rocket scientist to see what needs to be done.

Rios sure has been paying dividends. Swingin' a great bat. Hopefully the boys will start to heat up and keep it rollin'!

wow...nice family outing at the ol' ballpark. Sadly I've seen my share of those things...mostly at football games though. -
Anyone happy the Padres are doing well?
Wanne replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm actually more disappointed that the DBags aren't closer in the standings...because they need bullpen help in the worst way!!! -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) You sicken me sir. Its just a glove. Hey...I was multi-tasking!

I'd more than wet mine. I'd oil all the strings pretty well and literally soak it overnight. Take it out in the morning and wrap a ball in the pocket and tie it up and let it dry a day or so. Then oiled the pocket and flexors. Sometime I'd beat it with the head of the bat in the pocket too. It usually took me about a week to get it where I wanted it.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) I honestly don't think its either, I think its very much mental. Might help him if he just decided, for a few games, to forget all the tweaking that he or Walker are doing, forget the expectations, just go up there and do what he does naturally. Easier said than done of course, but I think that's what ultimately gets him out of this. very much so. he just seems wound too tight...

QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) I never had a problem with Valentin. I mean, he wasn't the best for average hitter, but he could mash sometimes. He was an awful SS though, but he made up for it with the Stache. Dude was a pimp! hahaa...I still have the White Sox bottle opener in my drawer that when it hits metal in the middle Hawk is callin' a Jose Valentin homer...YYYYYES!!! Sometimes it randomly goes off when I open the drawer...it's pretty classic!
