He might not even be the best hitter in the PAC12 this year. ASU's Spencer Torkelson starts the season on a tear. 9-14...6-6 with runners in scoring position. 9 RBIs. If Torkelson wasn't a sophomore...he'd be in this conversation right now as a top 5 pick IMO.

The fact that the two biggest clown shows in Chicago are the Bulls and White Sox...not hard to see what the problem is here. I will say tho...I do have a little bit of faith that the Sox will turn the corner in the next few years given the amount of young talent they have.

Such a winnable game tonight for the Illini which was frustrating. That sequence towards the end of the 1st half was a kick in the nut sac and such a huge pt swing. Wisky gets a bailout phantom call as shot clock expired. Dude makes two FTs. Frazier misses as easy a bunny as you'll ever see. Wisky hits a 3 after Frazier's miss. Not sure why they didn't take the ball to the basket more in the first half when they went stone cold. Can't wait til the big boys get here next year.

$1K?...dayam! Did that over 10 years out here in Phx...usually had a sponsor or two. We played in the Peoria men's league (at the Peoria Sports Complex). Some pretty good teams when I first started and it eventually started to go downhill. We were the Angels...and the Rangers were always the team to beat. Mike Cosgrove (former Astro LHP) played on the Rangers and that dude could still bring heat in his 40s. Guy on our team from was from back there Ron Daugherty...was a WR and one of the last cuts on the Bears in 84 I believe. RD was a football coach out at Mesa CC too...great dude! We had a really fun group of guys that pretty much stuck together over the years. I played til my shoulder said no more...and my eyes couldn't pick up a ball off the bat worth a shit. Sucks getting old! Hope you can find someplace to latch on with. I thought about doing MSBL (senior over 40)...but they play too damn far away during the middle of the week. Hear ya about the slowpitch...meh.

This is where I'm at (about Hawk). Benetti...really don't like very much at all. He and Stone play too much grab-ass in the booth. Only time I don't mind Benetti is when he's with Paciorek. Whimpy is awesome! I actually felt sorry for Benetti one this year when he was doing the Maui Classic and paired with the inanely bizarre Bill Walton. Just really really weird stuff was going on lol.

definitely sanitize and be a clean freak. And write EVERYTHING down. The carbonation for the ciders is what I'm a little curious about. They say you want your carbonation out of mead so you don't blow corks...but how do you know how much to carbonate (with sugar or those little tabs). I haven't racked any yet...so I've got some time. thanks.

I'm not going to do beer...sounds like a pain in the ass honestly and I just assume buy it. I'm delving into making my first batches of mead as we speak...and going to do some hard ciders this weekend too. The ciders don't take as long which is good since I'm very impatient. There's a place in Prescott we always stop in at that's pretty cool called Superstition Meadery. Little bar the basement of this shop on the square in downtown Prescott. We did that Granite Mountain Hotshot Memorial in Yarnell and headed up the road to it just this past weekend. But DAMN they have some great meads! So we decided to give it a shot. You can make whatever kind you want. I prefer a little sweeter so it's better to use Orange Blossom honey. If you want a more "woodsy" flavor use wildflower honey. The say it's better to use the wine yeast also. That's the thing...it's all trial and error to find out what you like. My first couple of batches we're doing a cherry...and just a traditional. The meads take longer to ferment than the ciders. With the hard cider you can do it ghetto style and just get a gallon jug of apple juice...or cider...poor some out add a cup or two of sugar (some say brown sugar is good...or just corn sugar) and pitch your yeast...drill a hole in the top of the cap and pop your airlock for a week or 10 days. I've been studying this for a bit. All kinds of vids on it....Northern Brewer has a few good cider vids. This homesteading couple (goofy dude) have a bunch of vids too...I think called City Steading. He makes a mead called Viking Blood (with cherries). But there's all kinds of vids on youtube. Wanted to get someone's perspective on here that's done this...

Palka's lost 10-15 lbs this off season and has been working out at GA Tech all winter on his D. Curious to see the progress if any he's made. Probably in the same neighborhood as Schwarber...which was still meh at best. Don't get me wrong tho...I love me some Daniel Palka!
