that escalated quickly...

I just hope if Harper isn't coming here he'll be up front with the Sox and give them a shot at filling that gaping hole in RF. My thoughts would be ok...he's going to the Dodgers so Dodgers clear a space for him. I'd take Puig off their hands to fill that hole.

Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside
Wanne replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
yeah...the innings is my issue to. Not saying it's the reason why Kopech blew out his UCL...but never know. -
Update per Heyman: White Sox one of 3 teams meeting Machado
Wanne replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree...but unfortunately I think we get neither. If I was betting I'd say Harper to the Dodgers. Machado to Philly. I'll GLADY take being wrong! -
i'm on a board where this guy is merely using Baines fWAR as an argument why he's not deserving (of course that's the only way he can relate to players). I get where people are simply enamored with the sabermetrics and all...but geez.

it they're offering Bukauskas and Seth Beer I'm tripping all over myself to say YESSSSS.

Goldschmidt to Cards / Weaver-Kelly-Young to Dbacks

I don't buy it's an overpay. I'm not one to put a salary number on a player that doesn't exist. -
Goldschmidt to Cards / Weaver-Kelly-Young to Dbacks

Kelly, Weaver, Young and Mr 2.2fWAR Pick wasn't going to help the Cards compete this season. -
Goldschmidt to Cards / Weaver-Kelly-Young to Dbacks

Disagree. Think the Cards would be smart to go after Harper hard. Can you imagine the draft from all the buttholes puckering at once on the North side if the Cards landed both Harper and Goldy this offseason lol.... -
Goldschmidt to Cards / Weaver-Kelly-Young to Dbacks

yes and no. I think StL is someplace Goldschmidt will love playing and will re-up. Kelly is a good piece...Luke Weaver...sure. Know nothing about Young. Good deal for the Cards IMO... -
IIRC I don't think Direct TV people get PAC12 network (I could be mistaken)...but that's a shame if you don't. Or Vaughn would be on everybody's list. I've usually leaned towards Vaughn at #3...but then I started thinking about another guy that completely raked (not quite like Vaughn)...but still I thought one of the better hitters in the draft that year. A two-time PAC Player of the Year and Triple Crown Winner. Thought we'd see him as a mainstay in an MLB lineup for quite a while. But the dude never quite clicked in the majors. Remember Brett Wallace from ASU? Sometimes these guys don't quite get over that hump. This is the thought that lingers in my head when/if it comes down to Vaughn or Langeliers at 3. And for comparison sake...check out Wallace's numbers in 07: 2007 (Sophomore): The Pac-10's Triple Crown winner and Player of the Year, Wallace had one of the best seasons in Sun Devil history...finished the season with a .404 average and 107 hits...led the conference in batting average, slugging percentage (.687), runs scored (75), hits, RBI (78), homers (16) and total bases (182)...finished third in the conference in OBP at .484 and tied for fourth in walks (38)...was a consensus First Team All-American

thanks for posting that!

He more than doubled Bonds freshman output. Fell a couple shy of season all time record. Torkelson led the PAC in four categories slugging .754, runs, total bases and HRs. He won't be getting any draft love until next year when he's eligible. He really exploded onto the scene last spring. He's another of those guys that can play 3B and this summer he played corner OF at Cape Cod. Hopefully Tracy Smith doesn't fuck him up. I really haven't seen a coach more hated that Tracy Smith out here lol...not even close.

I watch a ton of ASU baseball...go out to Muni when I can and honestly he was the most impressive hitter I saw last year in terms of overall production plus power. Madrigal is/was a great college hitter...but Vaughn is a shade above him IMO. He hit very well against ASU. Another name to keep an eye out for who's only a soph this year at ASU is Spencer Torkelson. Hit 25 dingers as a frosh and hit around .325 or so. Be interesting to see how he develops this year as well.
-
you probably could...he's a good enough athlete. Wouldn't be the preferred spot IMO.
-
not sure how much PAC12 baseball you get to watch...but Vaughn is a complete stud at the plate. I'd take him in a heartbeat and not even hesitate. I've heard some chatter about he's such a good athlete could probably play 3B too...like a Bob Horner type player. I'm a huge fan of Andrew Vaughn.

you wonder how serious Manny is about playing SS and with the trade of Segura to the Phils...it's cooled him on them?

Castillo the starter, Sox still looking to add
Wanne replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
somewhat..but not sellers. Just rolling the dice and came up craps. -
I think the Marlins are going to be sadly underwhelmed with what they'll be offered. Can't see teams giving up top 5 prospects honestly. Maybe the Astros...that's about it.
-
yeah...I can't see Hahn giving up Robert in any circumstance.

Giolito • Collins • Basabe • Fulmer for Realmuto then trade Castillo for whatever.
-
I love this trade. Narvaez is what he is. Decent offensive catcher. Horrible defensive catcher. Colome could be a very valuable piece. As someone mentioned he's a flip candidate at deadline for a nice piece possibly. He gives some of the younger pen arms a little more time to develop. Also...with the 3rd pick of the 2019 MLB Draft the Chicago White Sox select: Shea Langeliers
