  1. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) If the A's are to make a deal for Peavy, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle sees outfielder Michael Choice as the potential centerpiece. Otherwise, they could add a reliever. GM Billy Beane says this is the "lowest trade inventory I've seen in years." Reactions? my reaction is f*** Billy Beane...
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) Unless it's due to salary reasons, no thanks on Kubel or Kennedy. both their contracts end this year...so why not if you still get Owings and Davidson.
  3. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) Quote: John Perrotto #Pirates and #WhiteSox have at least discussed the parameters of a trade in which Jake Peavy and Alexei Ramirez would come to Pittsburgh in exchange for Jameson Taillon, Alex Dickerson and at least one other prospect. #MLB #BUCN 29 minutes ago Link Anyone report this yet. That would be one hell of a get!! Bidding Wars...YEAH!!! I'm good with either of these teams return...and watch the Cards jump in last second. haaaa
  4. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Holmberg, Davidson, Ownings for Peavy/Lindstrom yes please You're missing the Dback perspective...they'll need to dump salary (kubel, McCarthy, Kennedy)
  5. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) Eh, I think Eaton may be the most valuable of the three. I doubt he gets moved being a piece on their current playoff contending team. I wouldn't joke about Gillaspie moving to first. Many Sox fans would take that offensively. I don't think they'd move Eaton...
  6. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) As far as prospects the names that are thrown around are Eaton, Pollock, Owings and Davidson. I doubt the first two would be moved but a handful of posters like them. As would I. AZ gives Rick a chance to be very savvy. I'm probably in the minority but I would take Kennedy, Kubel, Owings, Davidson for Peavy. Money probably makes sense too. If we got Owings and Davidson I'd be giddy!
  7. kinda how the Sox covet Trout?...that kind of covet?
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) Peter Gammons ‏@pgammo 50s Arizona has been shopping Ian Kennedy and Jason Kubel, which wouldn't free enough $ to get Kevin Towers' fave Jake Peavy Expand Er, maybe Gammons means would free enough money? Salary dump since they're both FAs after the season...throw in Chris Owings and another spec and you got a deal. They need to dump one of their OF anyway (and kubel most likely) since none of them (a rotation of 5 guys) can't get any rhythm.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:06 AM) 55 hours to go. A huge 55 hours that could impact the future of the franchise. No pressure, or anything.
  10. I'm fully anticipating being disappointed come wednesday. Maybe one deal...happens...but it'll have the same effect as the Thornton deal IMO. Bring your s*** back Jake....
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) I would bet money on Mike Huff. Good god!...if this dude is even in remote consideration my mute button will always be on. Friggin TERRIBLE. People hating on Hawk now will miss him when he's gone. Listening to Yankee announcers with game winner call...friggin joke. I've heard more exciting bowel movements.
  12. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) Joe McEwing = bad coach. Rios = stupid Chris Sale = mad this. Rios is an idiot...but what the f*** is McEwing doing?!?!?
  13. My point isn't the "risk of injury"...it was leaving a very solid outing at that. It's just smart baseball. Lindstrom then Reed...wasn't rocket science...
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) Why not? They have about the same experience Ventura did when he got the job, which is none. Of course, it pretty much shows in Ventura's results. Woefully over his head. so you want to drive back down that highway?!?....no thanks.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) How far? How many innings? How many pitches? Where is that exact spot? How bout a standing O at the end of the 7th after the 3rd out walking off the field...force the issue.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) Well we have those so this report isn't saying too much. that and Towers lip syncing the same thing...meh.
  17. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Corbin....Stud Kennedy....PUKE Miley....Really Shaky Delgado....Big Time Question Mark Skaggs....Is he ready? McCarthy...? Archie Bradley...up and comer is he ready either Just because Towers is blowing smoke...I wouldn't etch it in stone. Like I said before...they need to move an OF also IMO (Kubel probably) since none of them are getting any sort of rhythm...
  18. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) No, but still doesn't change the fact that was a TERRIBLE decision by RV. but what new.... yeah...pretty unacceptable. flat out dumb...
  19. I'd do Reed for Castellanos in a heartbeat if at all possible... I know this is PIPE DREAM stuff here...but can you imagine the future of out infield if we pulled these deals off. Det: Castellanos (Reed, ?) Stl: Adams (Lexi, Crain + ?) AZ: Owings+ (Peavy) or however you make these work...how would that infield sound for the future with Gordo? So if you swing the first deal of Rios you can include whatever piece you get back in one of these deals or not. I know this sounds XBox-y...but possible.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) It's not so much his performance to me as the fact that he just doesn't really fit into the gameplan anymore. I'd rather put that money in the bank and use it when we're actually competitive. this
  21. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) Owings has many of the same question marks at SS that Beckham had when he was first drafted, according to some scouting reports. I feel like people think since Beckham was moved very quickly away from SS when he entered pro ball it meant that he couldn't play SS, but the reality was that he was moved away from SS because SS was blocked by Ramirez and Beckham was expected to be with the pro club sooner rather than later. If the White Sox didn't have Ramirez at SS but rather Royce Clayton, I would bet you would have seen Beckham come up to the majors as a SS. Whether he would stick there, that's another question, but he has enough tools to that would make it worth experimenting with him at SS. And Pedroia was a much better defensive SS than Beckham coming out...but look where he ended up...where scouts projected him. I just think that was the projection on Gordo from the start and he's exactly where he's supposed to be...or I should say succeed at his best position at this level. Owings on the other hand is outstanding defensively at SS right now. I just want Gordo left where he is...
  22. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) I thought about this Kubel pick up as well. I wonder if it would be possible to take on Kubel's contract + Owings + low level prospect(s) and then turn around Kubel and trade him for whatever we can get. A la Toronto with Edwin Jackson a couple years back. Someone of the 24 "contenders" has to want a LH bat that wouldn't cost much prospect wise. that was my line of thinking too...especially if we move Rios by himself or in a package.
  23. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) Towers has said no. Not sure if that is gamesmanship or not. I think that's bs. They need to move one of their outfielders IMO. Part of their problem is they rotate 5 OF guys to keep them happy and give them all PT and none of them are getting into a consistent rhythm. Kubel would be the likely candidate I'd think at $7.5M. Also...why on earth they took on Heath Bell @$10M a year is beyond me...regardless what Miami is pitching in on his remaining.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) IF we could get something valuable for Ramirez, hells yeah. I love the missile but its time to move on. I also have zero problem trying Beck's at short. Key is he's going to have to hit like he did the past month or so to stay there, otherwise Sox will have to find someone else. But s***, I am not concerned about not having a shortstop during a rebuilding year. Sox would have a whole off-season to potentially fill that void. I'm getting sick of moving Gordo around...but that's not to say it's not necessary to move him over there when Lexi gets' moved...but I just don't think he's a MLB quality SS. That's why I'm more inclined to get into bed with Arizona to pry Owings away than STL for a Wong deal.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) Alex Rios should be booed heavily today... Yes...that will fix everything.
