  1. Weird to think the 2-3-4 could disappear by a few weeks from now

Nobody gives a s*** if Puig doesn't make it. Seriously. It will be a non-issue.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Nick Cafardo ‏@nickcafardo 10m The Red Sox are looking everywhere for relief. Interested in White Sox trio Addison Reed, Matt Thornton and Matt Lindstrom. Okay, then I'l say with a straight face: Jackie Bradley. Gimme

LOL it'd be a shame if the best player won the All-Star vote, eh?
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Not really. He was nearly Rookie of the Year for the Rockies his first season and then had a season like Viciedo is having now... But I wouldn't call it the scrap heap, I would just say we sold Aaron Miles at his highest possible value. John Danks was scrap heap? A Top 10 draft pick at that age....don't think so. John Danks was a near-MLB ready prospect, the original subject of conversation.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) I think a lot of teams will hesitate on him because of his injury history and that'll hurt the length a little bit. I'd probably be willing to push 5/$75, but I can't be sure someone won't gamble Jose Reyes money on him. Might well depend on whether there's an org doing anything deliberately stupid this offseason like the Marlins were then. I don't think I'd want to give him 5 years. Would that be the longest term contract we've given a FA ever? Was Belle's that long (I know he opted out before it got that far)
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) So was Carlos Quentin, Paul Konerko, Connor Gillaspie, and Gavin Floyd. John Danks. Juan Uribe was also a scrap heap trade get.
  8. I'm curious what the difference is between the Booz that played with Deron Williams and the Booz that plays with Rose. Couldn't be the point guard....could it?

lol Caulfield, you have too much time on your hands. Just relax and don't overanalyze. Look what a couple days off did for Dayan!
  10. Hopefully they're using his off-time wisely. Things are often a crapshoot at his age/level. We could see him with few at-bats, no production, and suddenly he's sent to A-ball and does well. Hard to say without any media inquiring.
  11. We all know what the standard is in high school baseball, though the hay is really made in club ball. We see these kids at events like Area Code Games and elite club tournaments where they often match up against other draft talent. Even when not, scouts know how good a given American player's competition is. Look at Tim Anderson, who may be a high-high-first round talent but there was too much uncertainty about his competition to know for sure. Now imagine a 16-year-old who has only played against a bunch of exploited kids in a country where there are many fewer scouts and eyeballs in a bunch of simulated games.
  12. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 3m The White Sox have been asking for major-league ready or near-ready prospects in their trade talks.
  13. That sounds awesome to me. I wish I had MLB Network
  14. I would like Ellsbury. I have a feeling we'll sit back and try to see what FAs are hanging around after the largest dollars are thrown about. Ellsbury will likely get some of those big dollars. I have a feeling he will get paid more than he can earn.
  15. I think the area he could have had the most improvement is running the offense. When teams go balls out to stop Derrick, he never had an answer. This is why you would often see us go on scoring runs against teams like Heat with Derrick out of the game. Without Derrick, we run an offense that is something other than "stand around and see what Derrick does"
  16. We can "get by" with Santiago? What are you smoking?
  17. Good God, giving Monta Ellis fairly big, long-term money would have been a horrible move for this franchise. At least as we're constructed now, they have the opportunity to basically press the reset button after the season. Monta locks you into salary hell without making you any better.
  18. I think if the Cards had Wong on the table during a negotiation for Alexei, the negotiations would not last long. We'd scout their system for throw-ins and call it a deal.
  19. Castro was comfortably above 90 the first two innings he threw for us. I almost wonder if underuse is the issue
  20. Shoot, bad luck! Conor roped that thing
  21. All the luck coming back to us in the span of two innings. Can't we spread this around a little bit?
  22. Dunn! My fantasy team loves you
  23. And we're openly cheering scoring decisions. This is our season
