  1. I'm now trying to tweet w/ him in Spanish, it is both of our second language (let's hope he's better with Spanish than I am!)
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) FutureSox.com ‏@FutureSox 3m If the @MLBBrasil tweet is correct, and @andre_rienzo will be called up for Tuesday's game, that could indicate a trade is close. Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Andre Rienzo ‏@andre_rienzo 43s @FutureSox @SoxNet no believe in that because i dont know about hahaha Hide conversation What the f*** does that mean?
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:22 PM) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?g...ox&sid=milb #hugwatch You think we might get Josh Fields? Awesome!!!
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:21 PM) What mixed signals? You either pay a fair price or you don't get the player. The White Sox don't have to trade Peavy. If the offers aren't there you can trade him in the winter or keep him and try to win next year. I don't understand why a price being considered too high is being called mixed signals. I think it is a pretty clear signal. Well, we can't know if the Sox were moving the goalposts or what

    QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 12:45 PM) If I could stay Chicago would be my #1. After that its not really specific order but San Fran, San Diego or LA. But my #1 by far would be Chicago. Chicago would definitely be in my top 3, if not top 2. All subject to change repeatedly as I travel and move around, though
  6. I don't think Peavy not making this season's starts necessarily affects his trade value. It affects his actual value, but I don't know that it means much in terms of trade return. The trade deadline, on the other hand, could be the best impetus for a great return in trade though.
  7. Dude probably called home to mommy before he was supposed to
  8. It is still relatively common for a pitcher to never be right again after TJS. Maybe 1 out of 20. It's not a no-risk endeavor
  9. Guys like Melton tend to fizzle out pretty early in their careers. I don't mind taking it year by year with him
  10. I was the opposite. I haven't done any quantitative work in any way, shape, or form since high school and hadn't done the basic algebra, geometry, etc since I was a freshman in high school. That's a long ass time. I've had to relearn a lot of math and I'm still not going to be much better than 50th percentile in quantitative.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:16 AM) Tigers trade for Jose Veras from the Astros, so /thread I don't see that ending well
  12. How much negotiation do you think is done via text vs phone?
  13. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) The Tigers just got Veras from Houston, so forget about them in a Texas 3 way. Hey! This is a family board!
  14. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:01 PM) Face inserted into palm
  15. Russell would be a guy worth paying 10 million bucks for. He'd probably get that as international FA right now
  16. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Apparently Miguel Cabrera got a little help... "@BBTN: Notable players associated with Biogenesis: M.Cabrera B.Colon N.Cruz J. Peralta A.Rodriguez #STLvsATL on ESPN http://t.co/fM4Bhz9bnt" MMMMMMelky
  17. The posturing continues. Somebody will crack
  18. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) They are probably flipping hector or Jose for hitters in the offseason Must be, it's a very odd strategy. Seems to be a bit more risk than just getting the hitters now
  19. Very weird that we're going for MLB pitchers when we hardly have a rotation spot to spare
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) I'm meaning that we trade before deadline but won't figure out the player until august September Oh, yeah, probably. At the soonest
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:14 PM) Yeah for a PTBNL in August. He'll be next to untradeable in August
  22. There's a couple free ones through the ETS website. I am taking the GRE tomorrow and have been using Kaplan's prep. I paid roughly 30 bucks for a textbook that came with an extensive online deal. I think there are 7 full practice tests included, can be taken timed or untimed, plus a ton of 20-question practice sets. Kaplan's math review was skimpy, so I bought a CliffsNotes math refresher that has been more helpful.
  23. We overachieved last year after he was hired to preside over a rebuild and this year we underachieved. Having Robin preside over a rebuilt White Sox in a year or two is a plan that probably hasn't changed
  24. We can be sure that know-it-alls around here will be acting like they knew every trade offer we had and passed up on
  25. We keep saying KW would have done this or that, but we had a ton of deadlines where there was a lot less activity than expected
