QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Swisher is just a bad hitter, he can walk, and has power, but shouldn't be up, trying to bring a guy home from 2nd. Griff should have hit in that spot.

Swish, who is normally better off with the bat on his shoulder anyway.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) K-rod with as good of a change up today as ive seen him have...throw that in there with the slider and fastball he has...filthy That's one of the nastiest changes I've seen.

That changeup was just filthy. If he wants to throw all his stuff for strikes, nobody will have a chance.

Alright great job Liney. Wasn't hit hard at all, wouldn't have deserved a run had he given one up.

If liney makes an out here it'll be really big for him and us.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) That last pitch to hunter wasnt that bad. It was well enough away and wasn't that high. It wasn't a B pitch, but it was good enough. The only problem I have is listening to the mumbling tool Hawk. If a young guy makes a mistake, he harps on it for like 2 or more innings almost scolding him. If a vet makes the same mistake, its the silent treatment. I never see him break down a Mark Buerhle start showing replays of one pitch and scolding him for not nutting up. Agreed. It's only a bad pitch when the batter knows its coming.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) Every time I watch Carrasco pitch, I wonder how the hell he keeps getting guys out. Ha, I just don't understand it. Location, speed differential, movement. Such an easy game.

Well done DJ. nubber, strikeout.

Game Thread 09/07/08
That last pitch he threw wasn't a bad pitch. All three batters were sitting on outside pitches, we had go in on someone or else they were just going to drive everything the other way.

Paulie has come back to being Paulie plus some. He will make up for the loss of Q along with effective pitching. Carlos Quentin, who needs him?

White Sox Winner!
It'd be great to dominate the Halos this series, not only great for the team to build on, but psychologically tough on Minny and a great way to earn respect from the masses.

Anyone else hate our offseason moves?
The reason that some of our fans aren't happy with OC is because I think many thought he needed to be an all-star and a dominator at the plate. He is consistently above average, which in itself is exceptional. They also expected him to commit very few errors or something, I'm not sure what more they can ask from his defense but apparently the few detrimental errors left quite a sting. The media disliking him has also affected fans' views on him. Nobody on this message board can know if his clubhouse presence is as publicized. The things that a leader does in the clubhouse are rarely publicized, not to mention it is hard to step in as the "leader" in your first and contractually final year on your team.

Uribe and Cabrera aren't even in the same league as shortstops. Uribe will never approach what Cabrera does in an average year for OC at the plate. As far as defense, OC is just better. People are just fooled by Uribe's flashy plays. The fact is, he's a fatass and that restricts his range. His arm strength helps him sometimes, but arm strength doesn't get you to balls. In 2005, I was one of those who thought wow Uribe must be one of the best shortstops in the league. But he just isn't. Orlando Cabrera is better, and I laugh at people who say that not only is OC's defense inferior to Uribe's, but is so bad that it doesn't make up for his superior hitting. And for those who want to use OPS or HR's to say Uribe last year is better than OC at the plate, the key to statistics is to use all indicators of performance. Cherry-picking the few numbers that contradict the majority doesn't fly with educated fans.

Leader or Manager
When I hear manage, I just keep thinking I don't want to elect the Kyle Orton of Presidents. (Orton being the "game manager")

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 08:30 AM) bad joke. Im waiting for Hawk to come out with his line of stuff so we can all wear it proudly I was really searching my mind for what Hawk stuff would be. All I came up with was Hawaiian shirts, eyepatches, and that goofy hat he used to wear that said "the Hawk" on it.
